OMG THANK YOU!!!! I have been following Jared since his first appearance in TNP, and I have been unable to find ANY supplier in the USA who sells Bonowi! Thank you Funker!!!
Research modified weaver stance, also look into triangle footwork. Both were core parts of my instruction and allowed me to streamline my thought process when it came to defense and offense.
I agree that you should have a universal defensive stance. In my system, I always make sure that I maintain a safe distance and eliminate key target areas regardless of what weapons I have.
whats the point of the video? i dont quite get it. that is basically the base stance in every martial art ever. somtimes the feet are a little more forward or more together but generally something along the lines of this.
what other stance would you do though? this already is the base stance for all martial arts i know, so there shouldn't be a need for this video right? its just kinda obvious to me that you dont stand there in a way you'd fall over as soon someone pushes you.
jort93z Not everyone has a sharp mind to see that. On my extremely short stint in the Army, during the dry fire drills for us to get acquainted with the rifles I asked my Lt: "Can I use instead of this position you showed, a position analogue to that of a fighting stance?", he gave me a blank stare and I didn't insist on the matter or else I'd be doing push-ups or whatever punishment he had concocted since I couldn't run because my leg was fucked from the shin splints.
I mean let's be fucking real, more than half of funker tactical's so called "instructional videos" are shit you've seen before from other experts in the same field or at other times just people showing off
I agree with the overall message. The stance I teach my students is different and I think that your hands are too high but that's just my opinion. Overall I completely agree with the basic premise. I don't call it a platform I call it an operating system. Same idea
....what would Fedor Emelianekov think about the "empty hand-universal stand platform fighting self defence system"? ....the way he spreads his fingers while demonstrating absolutley sugests serious danger and makes me freakin scared!
Just NO. Your hands and arms are NEVER in the same position (or "platform", if you prefer) because you keep changing weapons or system. So does your stance. The search for a "universal" stance or position is pointless and futile since it can't but be a compromise. If you have the capability to adapt to the situation and use the best stance for that specific need, why use a different one? If the problem is "I can't adapt" or "I'm not flexible enough to learn different things, so one must for all" , then that's another story...
After a lot of experience with fire arms, (where milliseconds count just as much as in any other martial art), I can't condone the 'weaver stance', armed or not. The problem is that it takes time to get into. If you can't immediately counter or attack from a normal standing position or one where you're still in the process of turning around-- then the martial art doesn't matter at all. What works on the mat doesn't always translate to real life. The biggest threats aren't the ones that shout and puff out their chest, but the ones that come from the side or rear and don't make much noise. That being said, it doesn't hurt to tilt your body a little when talking to strangers you don't trust. Shoulder slightly obstructs the neck, leg obstructs the groin and one arm is casually concealed for arming up.
well the general idea goes into right direction at least; a thorough examination of the posture geometry is however required to make a convincing answer or in short: talk more about triangles
Can anyone help me out here im planning on joining a club called Sami combat systems, its structured around FMA and i was wondering would the club be worth going to becauce im planning on going into security and wouldn't want to put myself or anyone else in danger. The main branch has a youtube channel, so if there is anyone who is experienced that can give me any feedback on whether it would be useful or not would be much appreciated
This isn't new. JKD, Karate, Boxing, Silat, and countless others use this same "platform". You didn't find anything new, it's just basic body mechanics. Next video.

FullKitTactical is the place!
I HEARD YOU LIKED PLATFORMS, SO I PLATFORMED ON TOP OF YOUR PLATFORM SO YOU CAN PLATFORM WHILE YOU PLATFORM

Officer Jared is so good, I love all of his TNP videos and these new ones.
Good video, man! Your simplification method makes much more sense than endless tactical training that never will be used.
That's an excellent video, especially for us normal folks who don't have the time to train 24/7 but still want to have some fighting chance out there.
I agree that you should have a universal defensive stance. In my system, I always make sure that I maintain a safe distance and eliminate key target areas regardless of what weapons I have.

jort93z It's to use an universal position for everything. Baton, knife, gun, empty hand

Excellent, well presented, lots of focus passion and real effect. Professional.

So like how you change stances in kata
Just NO.

Excellent video. I agree 100%. I teach the same principle.
if you've noticed, Bas Rutten uses a similar fighting stance.
A+++ advice here!
Well, It make sense
well the general idea goes into right direction at least; a thorough examination of the posture geometry is however required to make a convincing answer or in short: talk more about triangles
good stuff.
Nice weapon system platform
I agree.
I am not clear with this, when I tested it the only thing I found out is that it has nothing to do with
What is the brand of knife you are using in this video?
That's not how it works, with some weapons not only is it beneficial to take a different stance but natural.
What knife was that? I liked it very much ! (Y)
You just sold a Browning Speed Dial knife...

no...... all stances vary even slightly.... so no.. maybe for a mid-grade training...eh
so this what ? boxing stands?
visit tnp/jarod for videos more than 30 sec.
So he invented THE stance!
This isn't new. JKD, Karate, Boxing, Silat, and countless others use this same "platform".
