re: the question at 25:19, I have never watched that Zoras video and peaked just above 600. I started with Claybo's openings guide and then after that primarily watched MtL's fan factions guides and MtL's and Deragned's streamed games. I imagine this is just a function of when I started playing. Claybo's video was more current so that's what youtube recommended to me at the time.
Have been learning the game the past 2 months and jumped from 100 to 447 elo now at around 80 games played. So I think I found out about this video maybe slightly too late. Watched also quite some ongoing arena games, primarly to get a sniff at the bidding/starting positions. Playing your guess the move kinda. I feel like starting positions still is a weak point in general. The understanding the economy video was indeed an eye-opener. Used the Fickles/Claybo base faction introduction video's combined with the opening statistics on bgg a lot. When those were done, the MTL videos, although I definitly have not played every fan faction yet. Now in the phase of watching past streams, as I seem to never catch a live one. What is not there yet question: A video about the different maps and a quick reference sheet or something what colors/factions are better or worse than normally on those maps (Recurring theme for me, starting positions). Thanks for this (and the other ones as well) video(s)!
Interesting, good to hear your point of view! The point about the maps is a good one. I have seen stuff floating around, and of course everyone has their own opinions, but that would for sure be a valuable resource....
Lovely video
