Hey Dude Your video is so spot on. After watching you do this install, it only took me about 10 minutes. (If I wasn't so afraid of tearing something up) I could have done it quicker. Thank you so much for your video. You are the best!
Thank you for this video. Mine came with no instructions. My kit came just like yours, the 2 wires not installed in the plug. I deviated from what you did by zip tying in all of the wires to the tailgate and letting the leads hang down though the panel holes. I just tucked in the wires as I installed the lights. Next project, the hood struts.
Just installed this in my hylander, literally took me 10 minutes, quick and easy mod. I used some eletrical tape to clean the wires and made sure to tuck the wires for the led lights behind the sound deadning. Thanks for the DYI, found it super helpful.

Hey Thanh.....Just wanted to let you know that I purchased these lights to install in my 2021 Highlander. I can't wait until they arrive from Car Trim Home. Thanks again for making the install video. They're going to look great. 🙂
Thanh, thanks for the great video. it was indeed simple but awkward to install. Biggest problem was getting the connector loose, not obvious how to release. It was also difficult to reinstall the panel because the wires from the harness and the finish panel left the panel hanging. I kept pulling out the connections on the LED inserts. I finally had to loop the led pigtail and feed wire and sip tie so they didn't pull apart as I was trying to reattach the door trim panel. Cant wait to see the difference at night for loading the back.
@@vietbubbletea the item arrived in a week from China to Toronto! I just installed on my 2023 Hybrid LTD. Pushing the close button on the hatch didn't do anything, didn't even make a sound. I remembered reading a comment left by one of your views before I started the install with a similar issue and thought this might be common for newer model years. As I walked around to the drivers side I had this dreadful thought, since I manually closed the hatch what would I have to do to be able to open it again if the button from the interior wouldn't open it either....................Pushing the hatch button by the drivers side did make the beep sound and hazard lights blinked to acknowledge the button actuation but the hatch didn't open. I next turned the vehicle on and pushed the interior hatch button once again and this time it worked - all functions are back; kick to open, key fob, and interior button. Thought I would share this with your viewers, thank you very much again for your review and install video, keep up the good work!
The reason they left the pins out is because in most of these kits, the wires have to be passed through the hatch grommet/loom which is easier when the plug is de-pinned. Most people can push the wires back into the plug while a lot of people cannot/ don't know how to de-pin a plug.

@@pathdo sorry, i dont, but it is very similar to rav4 trunk door LED light installation, because for the rav4 you use the small light on the right side of the trunk. you have to run the 2 power wires red and black from the new LED lights through the trunk door window trim, then through the rubber tubing and into the rear doom light. just use a multimeter to make sure which side of the bulb is positive + and negative -; then tie the wires in there.
This was really helpful! I did have a question. The cover of that trunk does stick out a bit even though all the clips are in. I’m not sure if you had that issue or if my wires are making it so it’s not secured completely.
Thanks, I would double check to make sure all of the red circular clips are properly fastened to the cover as I had one red clip that stayed stuck to the lift gate and had to realign it.
