Yes is the answer. At least it's my answer. I prefer it to the other Spyderco staples like the Para3, the PM2, and the Manix 2. I haven't tried the Slysz Bowie but I imagine it's pretty sweet.
There is a Spyderco Nirvana listed on Ebay for 1,400 $. Who buys all of the Spyderco sprint runs and limited edition knives. Spyderco has brought out the Para 3 in a bunch of different steels. They went from S30 V to S45VN, Maxamet, Cruwear, S15V, S110V to Elmax and other steels. They also have dealer exclusives. Why would they do that if not for collectors?
Great review. I too came over from the Metal_Complex live stream. I was leery of Spiderco but in my search for the best EDC for me I tried out a Para 3 that has now become my absolute favorite carry knife, It is light weight and as you noted once you are used to the compression lock, very easy to use with just one hand. Keep the content coming.
@@CuttingEdgeEDC I grabbed the BHQ Jade m4 Yojumbo and put black liners in it and a black Lynch clip. It’s a pretty sweet knife. Like the yojimbo2 also. That microJimbo looks way to small. For me anyway. It’s smaller then a Native 5😳
Agreed. Wish they would chase that rabbit a little further down the hole and come out with some other designs in that same vein. Thank you much! Really appreciated the support!
Bought my first one right after I got out of the hospital back in 2022. I managed to ruin the pivot last year and I couldn't find any replacement pivot and screws so I ordered another one. Why? Well it's because after you've experienced the Shaman, you just can't do without it in your collection. So there I was with a replacement and I was happy. However, I saw an all black Shaman in the shop where I hang out in. Guess what I did? I got that one too. Now I've got three (I can still use the one with the screwed up pivot) to go along with my PM2, Military 2, Native Chief, my three Native 5s, my two lightweight Manix 2s, my regular Manix 2 and my Manix 2 XL and those are just the Golden Colorado Spydercos in my collection. Now I don't know what to do with all of them.
I know what you mean, there’s just something about the all blacked out Shaman! I would send the one with the damaged pivot to Spyderco, I’m sure that’s an easy and reasonably priced fix.
The s30v g10 shaman was also my first spyderco when I decided to try one other than benchmade. The shaman hasn’t left my pocket since I got it. I prefer it to the superfreek although it’s a different type of knife but similar. The handle ergos and blade shape are just perfect with this knife. I also added a CME button for the lock which makes the knife a million times easier to actuate with BOTH hands too
Love my Shaman! In my top 3. But I had the nub reduced some and now I can use the compression lock like I was used to on my Para 3.I didn't like how it would hit your pointer finger when it closed.
Man! I didn’t even mention that in the video. I’ve gotten so used to it. Doesn’t cross my mind. Looking back though, I did notice that a lot when I first started carrying this knife.
That's a really cool Folder. But, I like my Compression-Lock, Spyderco, Military 2 more... :-) I, also, like my Manix 2 XL's better, too... But, that's a very cool Spyderco, too. Great discussion Video. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

@@CuttingEdgeEDC BHQ still has their YoJumbo exclusive available. If you are on the fence about picking it up, i would go ahead and get it while you still can. Cause once it is gone it’s gone, and that is when you will want it lol. 199 isn’t bad at all for it. I love it, it took me 2 years to decide if i wanted it, then BHQ came out with their exclusive and picked it up the day it dropped. It really is amazing, i carried it in rotation for 2 months and its great, I didn’t even know it was there til i reached for it. Some People say the knife choil is annoying, but it really isn’t. Probably because i love the Shaman so much. It is a very small aesthetic gripe i got is that there is a cut out for a finger choil but they didn’t cut the blade away for it to match the scales. But i mean a very minuscule gripe. Get it man

Thanks for the showing. At first my thoughts on spyderco wasn't good. Some of the scales look to plasticy. And that what was throwing me off, but im seeing more and more that don't look that way. Haven't held one yet , but im trying to give them a chance, i may be crazy but i guess. 😂
If you care about the knife as a cutting tool first and foremost, spyderco can't be touched. If your more in to the fidget/pocket jewelry type knives then spyderco isn't necessary for you. With a knife as a knife spyderco just kills any other production brands out there and beats out a lot of custom makers ad well. They hire the right people, invest in the right equipment and spend plenty of time dialing in their heat treat protocols and they are willing to invest in running different and interesting steels and spending the time to build a protocol that gets the most out of said steel in a large production environment.
I definitely don't care about pocket bling I can use a $10000 just as easy as I would a 2 dollar knife, 🤣 I only have three newer knives now and they are maybe 40.-60 dollar knives my others are old , so like I said I need to give them a chance,

It’s a good looking knife, but its weak point is the compression lock . It’s just a reverse version of the liner lock. That’s why the manix with its crossbar lock or the strech with the back lock are superior. Especially under hard use. I’ve seen, button ,liner and compression locks fail… but where crossbar and back locks held with no issue.
