- After a very strong start and continuation into episode 3, My Adventures With Superman has now absolutely become the tv show I’m most excited to see each week as episode 4 offers yet another delightfully cute episode of this reimagining of the Superman mythos. This video will be my review of My Adventures With Superman Season 1 Episode 4 titled “Let’s Go to Ivo Tower You Say”...

I think it’s important that Lois figures it out early and on her own. Her not knowing for years is my second least favorite part of Superman lore.
I think it makes more sense in this show too as she’s actively paying a lot more attention to Clark rather than Superman, as in other versions she’s more obsessed with Superman and not really thinking about Clark.

Feel like it is fine that the first 4 episodes are relatively formulaic to help us know the characters in still relatively mundane events before the overarching plot start
I personally feel if you're introducing a new take on a hero you do need to have a few "monster of the week" episodes to build the hero's competency, do some worldbuilding and to let us know the general status quo.
Then you have the serialized stuff to really test said hero and make changes to the world and status quo.
At least that's how I've viewed things.
@@rotimigbadebo9609yeah like in the dcau there wasn't an overarching plot until superman tas. Batman tas and the majority of superman tas went in a villain of the week formula with the main plot not being in full motion until jlu.
With the description given for the next episode, I suspect the overarching plot will become more prominent since it teases Superman will find himself in the crosshairs of Task Force X, who are mostly likely the culprits behind the stolen tech.
Don’t mind it being a bit formulaic with a villain of the week since SMTAS did it. Just that this show focuses more on the relationship between Clark and Lois

one thing i really liked was how clark was overall probably just gonna ask for the gossip questions until Ivo said something rude about Lois. After that, he just decided to take the step with what she would probably have said to him. it really shows how Clark doesnt like people insulting those he care for

Love this Episode from how it’s building up Clark and Lois’ Romance,How Jimmy is becoming the 3rd Wheel,to this Version of Parasite setting Up both the Parasite Mental,AMAZO,Sam Lane,and Lex Luthor,to the Animation and Comedy Scenes,to how they’re writing the Story and Superman,and to How Lois figures out Clark is Superman Early which is a Welcome Change of Pace,9 out of 10.

I''m pretty sure that Lois figuring out Clark is Superman so early is definitely on purpose and won't be undone for the sake of maintaining the status-quo. It's pretty obvious from the opening that Lois and Jimmy will be playing a much more active role in this Superman's story, and specifically likely playing a huge role in Clark discovering who and what he is, which is usually something he already knows before he ever even meets either of them.
Frankly, I think that's a very good change to the mythos, because it honestly makes much more sense that it would take Clark a long time to fully discover just who and what he is, and to have Lois and Jimmy both play a major role in him uncovering that will give both of those characters a much bigger impact on Clark's personal story.
One small thing I loved about the episode:
Them doing the classic "Opening his shirt to reveal the Superman logo" thing. It made me giggle so much. It's so insignificant but thats part of the Superman charm. This show really brought back the Boy Scout in blue and I hope Gunn's version does that too

I LOVE ALL 4 EPISODES OF MY ADVENTURES WITH SUPERMAN
My only problem is show’s that the supervillain designs are so unoriginal. They’re all tech based and overcomplicated. I hope he can fight someone actually super-powered, or at least make them a little more accurate to the comic’s design.
But other than that, I love this show. Everything about it from the animation to the voice acting is fantastic.
I think both Livewire and Parasite are going to get superpowers. The tech apparently awaken their metahuman powers.
i think its just to foreshadow the finale being with braniac. with all the tech seeming to be kryptonian base, it makes sense as it could be made from broken debris that fell on earth years ago.
I am a bit in agree with you, but i think more fruther in the show we will get some comic accurate or at least close to the comics characters like Metallo, Mr. Mxyzptlk (that is shown in the intro) or Lobo.
@@francescozenocchini4428 I absolutely hope so. I think it’s just advance tech now to show the difference between earth tech and what krypton had. I’m pretty sure once braniac is back to life he will make his design somewhat classy, maybe even “fuse” with Lex again

totally. if they're 100% in the opening, they'll come back to team up for the finale or maybe sometime next season. I've seen conflicting things on how many episodes a season this show will have, I hope they don't do it too soon because it would make them feel less of a big thing.
I don't mind when origin stories are adapted/changed if they're done well, so im ok with the changes and very hopeful for the show's future, cause im in love with this version of these characters 🥺

What I'm thinking is happening with all these characters is we see them as just normal people first, but then something happens that makes them the actual superpowered character. And see them towards the end, maybe in finale
Livewire got zapped and briefly had her pale skin, likely gaining electricity powers
Banshee and Mist got brought in by deathstroke so likely will be getting new abilities
And now Ivo had his transformation where he seems like a mixture of parasite
Yeah, the villains would start just using tech until they suffer horrific accidents that give them their powers
When I first saw the trailer for the 4th episode, I thought "Ivo? That looks more like Parasite!" Was not expecting it to be both, so pleasant surprise.

I really like that they brought back Clark's ACTUAL personality for this. Reminds me a little of the Superman and Lois show with Tyler Hoachlin (who was an amazing Supes). I think we're ready for dark gritty Supes to take a bow
Clark and lois interacting are pretty fun scenes.
Continuity issue: Clark put the torn out page in his left hand pocket and Lois takes it out of his right hand pocket. I, too believe that Alex is a young, mad scientist Lex Luthor since Lex started out in the comics as a mad scientist and not the brilliant and ruthless businessman he became in Post-Crisis. To be fair though, just as Post-Crisis Superman has been THE version of Superman since 1986 and is still going as the definitive version, so much so that any deviation from the formula is met with "NOT MY SUPERMAN," Lex the brilliant, charming, debonair and ruthless businessman has been the version that everybody is familiar with to the point that trying to bring back original, mad scientist Lex (BvS) resulted in "NOT MY LEX!"
All in all, enjoying this show and can't wait to see where they go next. Half-Korean Lois was not something I was expecting, but I like it. Sam is a military man and they do tend to get around.
But Byrne's Superman has been drastically changed now. People now prefer Birthright and New 52 Action Comics origin (even if people didn’t like it at the time of it’s release) and Secret Origins which are better than what Byrne's MOS is.
The films not being able to sell it is an entirely different thing. The theatrical version of BvS is not good at all but there are people who have watched the Ultimate Edition and consider it a better film and a really good one. I think the reception to BvS' Lex would have been better if they had released the full version of the film.
The other continuity issue is that he's wearing just a t-shirt in one scene and then in the next, the suit is under his clothes.
@@bentontramell that can be solved by saying that he was wearing the suit under the t-shirt and had the sleeves rolled up to the shoulder. But the paper in different pockets is really hard to ignore.
Ivo being patterned after a Musk/Bezos style techbro conman is pretty apt, honestly.
This might be the best DC show since the DCAU.
I hope we eventually get a Justice League in this universe.

Since Clark still acts like a teenager at age 20, he needs a lot of time to qualify for a JLA.
I suppose this is US fake anime's solution to high school setting. Make adults as vulnerable as hgh schoolers so they can fumble through life, like their parents taught them nothing and they have to sign a job contract but behave like it's a club activity.
And r34 sites get to be filled up with children trapped in hunky bodies and tomboy gf's; everyone's happy.

Lois will discover that Clark Kent is Superman early because it is already the main point of the show. “My adventures with Superman” and the title image has Lois being carried in Superman’s arms.
Ivo might not be Parasite. If you look a bit closer you see a creature coming out of the suit. Parasite might JUST be the suit, or he later finds another host, kinda like Vemon. Same with the other two, the tech initially gives the the powers but battling superman the tech always goes wild and intergrates into the person.
Yeah makes me feel that Ivo just put a techno harness over some alien gunk because it seems to be a combo of biological matter and tech and seeing how the suit drained him much like a parasite I do agree that the suit will gain a will of it's own
Great depictions of all these main characters so far. A fresh take but not so far off that it’s disrespectful to the original core aspects of each one. Lois Clark $ Jimmy are all entertaining.

It feels like this show is the Superman version of The Batman cartoon where they also changed designs of characters that I liked, except Joker. Mr Freeze design was my favorite he had like a icehelmet thing that looked like cool and it looked like he had actual ice powers instead of weapons. Parasite is my favorite design in this show, but my favorite Parasite is from the Superman Man of Tomorrow.

Lois and Clark are absolutely freakin adorable!!! I am very much awaiting to see how Lois is going to handle Clark now that she knows. Is she going to be angry with him? Is she just going to keep a very close eye on him and catch him in the act? Is she going to try to talk to him as superman? I doubt she is just going to expose him to the world or others just because that's not what has ever happened in DC.... at least that I know of....

Love this show so much my only critique is all the constant blushing. It looks more like they're parodying the visual language of anime rather than emulating it because most anime doesn't overuse that visual hint every 3 scenes like this show does 😂

This Superman cartoon were such a surprise to me! I have been a life-long Superman fan since my childhood in Nigeria and I love this! This version of Lois was also another surprise. She is a gonzo journalist and strong female without any feminist nonsense and she looks attractive. Clark is heroic, lovable, and not a cynical evil "realistic" character like Snyder kept making him. It's like westerners actually decided to make a good Super hero show devoid of toxic identity politics, with great characters a d writing and also a positive masculine character and feminine character😯👍
Although some of the other villains have fallen short so far, combining Amazo and Parasite was an absolute stroke of genius.
Could be fun if it will be end season revel that the scientist is lex

I thought the Alex was a call back to Alexander Allston who does become Parasite in the comics. He is also wearing a purple shirt, the color of parasite.

Since Parasite is a suit, it can probably have mutiple users, like the multiple Parasites in the comics. Maybe even Lois will get to wear it, have to make some use out of that Luz haircut somehow.

I imagine that Ivo's assistant will end up becoming the "real" Parasite of the series since it seems he's the one who ran off with all the tech at the end. (Wouldn't even be too surprised if Waller got a hold of him.) Meanwhile, Ivo is very likely to create Amazo as an act of revenge against Superman after his defeat in this episode. Considering the shape he was in at the end, Ivo's whole "tech bro, party guy" thing is over for good, and he'll be far more focused on his work moving forward.
There is actually a Parasite named Alex (Alexander Alston) so that actually seems like a very high possibility

Real Evangelion vibes for me from the parasite suit. Jimmys character is great, light comic relief, where hes usually always right with his wild theories. I feel if he was used more his gimmick might wear thin.

I feel like calling the show Superman Armored Adventures! Alot of the villains are tech and that's much it.
I am enjoying the show so much. But I do hope that all of the villains this season won't all be tech based and that Superman will face bad guys that are either aliens or actually have super powers because we do need more variety in this show's rogues gallery.
I think since it will lead into sci-fy stuff we might get meta humans kinda like how YJ did it by having a villain use tech to unlock em. Maybe Lex would do it plus we're building up towards something involving Krypton so I think it makes sense to use the tech more.
At this point the Superman characters and mythos have been changed SO MUCH that they might as well have just called Lois Chloe, Jimmy Pete, and Superman Betaman.

So they threw Lex, Parasite, and Ivo in to a blender and hit the purée switch. Not bad. But it’s does beg the question of how and if they’ll handle Amazo in this universe.
Think Ivo became crazy a bit too quick but I can accept that he started losing it the moment he put that suit on. Also I thought they made Ivo parasite since they seem to be following the theme of tech changing people biologically (like the comics with a machine or accident ect) but if they are, I’m hoping Banshee ends up like Livewire and Ivo and that someday a poor sap named Rudy Jones gets a parasite suit. And for being formulaic, I don’t mind since it’s going for the Saturday morning cartoon model. Just like SMTAS

Loving the show but I don't really like the remaining of Amazo and Parasite. I don't particularly care for Amazo but Parasite is one of my favourite Superman villains and I think they did him pretty dirty.

This show has potential. However I have question. Is this real that Clark is turning into Superman 'Sailor Moon' style each time? If not there is a continuity error in this episode. We see Lois is taking Clark's blazer and he is left with tshirt. However later he changes into superman by revailing suit under a shirt. How does it work?
And one little nitpick. It is much more storytelling error. Lois is reaching by luck to the pocket of the blazer revealing torn out page. But then we have flashback that Clark put it there. From in-universe pov it is impossible. She wasn't there. It is obviously for a viewer. But that makes me wonder what is a target audience for this show. For a normal adult it should be obvious and shouldn't be telegraphically shown. Unless the viewer has a short attention span.
I doubt it's just luck. She's incredibly perceptive, but also, if you're gonna wear someone else's jacket and there's a literal wad of paper, you're either going to notice the sound it makes, the weight of the full page torn off, or the very shape of it bulging inside the pocket.
this series is very focused on talking and relationships it is "My Adventures With" not "Superman's Adventures With"
It would be interesting if in this version Clark's secret wasn't secret and Lois was OK with it and it wasn't undone. Otherwise its just same old stuff as other stories.
When I watch shows like this, and like He-Man or Batman or Spiderman or TMNT, I go in knowing what characters will become what heroes/villains when they don't go as intended, when Harry Osborn Isn't Green Goblin, When Matt Hagan isn't Clay Face, it gives us a surprise twist we were not expecting.
Too many Twists however can lead to the show not feeling like the series its based on. So I hope there is no super crazy twist like Johanthan Keny has a black belt in Jujitsu or Jimmy Olson was secretly Lobo the whole time. Some times people take these things completely off the rails .
Any how the show intro showed a clip of the three at the space ship burial site and I like to think all the intro clips are from episodes it would be nice to get away from "You lied to me and now Im mad" or "I discovered your secret but oops my memory is erased or you had a lie to cover your lie and I bought it" It would be nice if Lois was OK with and protected the secret. At least for a few episodes before they undo it.
I would like to see some hint of Lex at some point. I thought Slade Wilson was Lex at 1st.
I also wonder if other DC heroes will come in to the story? at least a shout out to a city?
any how I do like watching a series knowing things about the lore ahead of time knowing that the series is changing the lore but also eventually going to do the lore.
So, how is Clark going to lose his powers next week?
Do you think they are going to let Lois know Clark's secrets right away?
Or will Clark see danger in Lois knowing and hold his secrets, until he knows more about himself?

Man you're making this show sound like it's some Shakesperean epic... It's not. It's good. It's cute. It's not groundbreaking the way you're making it out it be. There are better shows out there (in the past too) but this is just a good 7/10

I do like how Dr Ivo is adapted and charactised in this and how he is essentially, the test runner for the Parasite and not the actual parasite who I think will show up properly down line more improved.

Both shows have the whole tech based villains some are aged down (for some reason ignoring Meta Human/ Mutant origins) and that’s pretty much it I really don’t see any other similarities

I started rewatching the 90's Superman show and I strongly disagree with My adventures version of Lois Lane. She was more assertive and already played a leadership role before being introduced to Clark in the 90's show.
Honestly im hoping my adventures with superman leads to a new DC animated TV show universe. Like i think a Batman show and justice league show down the line in this animation style and universe would be really unique.
Shame about jimmy being sacrificed as another pointless race swap.

I'm not a fan of the changes either. The show feels like it was made by people who have a basic understanding of the mythology of Superman. The changes made are ridiculously lame. The creators seem to be anime fans rather than traditional comic book fans.
Yes. Because the rest of us are just fine with the changes because the show itself is still good and still feels like a Superman series.
