My Adventures With Superman's Worst Episode is Still Good

- My Adventures With Superman has had a pretty fantastic streak with none of the first five episodes falling below an 8 out of ten in my personal reviews, this episode though, might just break that streak as what is technically the worst episode of the series so far even if that doesn’t actually mean much. This video will be my review of My Adventures With Superman Season 1 Episode 6 titled “My Adventures With Mad Science”.
The ONLY thing I would've changed is maybe something like...
"You told her before me?"
"I didn't really tell her. She jumped off a building and..."
"Wait... YOU JUMPED OFF A BUILDING!"
I find it really weird she's never called out for that. Other than that, I still enjoyed it.
that's where I thought that was going, unfortunately nope
My only guess for why the writers didn't is... (and I know I'm stretching) that, in spirit, Jimmy's point is accurate. Clark was GONNA reveal himself to Lois in the ep4 stairwell scene... even though ultimately Lois did force it out, he willingly would've told her first anyway.
It would have been very easy for Clark to throw her under the bus by revealing that when Jimmy got upset, but it's honestly quite wonderful that the writers remembered that Clark would never sell out his friends like that, no matter what the situation between them might be. Just one of the things that makes him Superman
When Jimmy said "I can't believe our alarm clock exploded again. Why do _you_ think that keeps happening?" in the first episode, I wondered if he actually did know that Clark had powers and just wasn't saying anything. Turns out, I was right.
I was not enamored by the "Lois is mad at Clark" thing so I'm glad they didn't draw it out over half a season or whatever. And yeah, this was the first episode that was not better than the ones that came before, but it was still good. Even a lesser episode of My Adventures With Superman is better than most things.
I'm glad they had the good sense not to draw that out for multiple episodes. If nobody is enjoying it and they got the point across...best to move on with the story.
Monsiur Mallah and The Brain were honestly my favorite part of this episode
EXACTLY 💯🦍💖🤖🥰
I like that they could finally do their relationship properly
isn’t it technically bestiality
@@kntgaf I guess it was before but the giant brain thing helped
@@Mirrorcomics24I choose to think it happened "after" he lost his body
In my opinion, even the worst episode of the season is at least on the scale of okay to good. so far, every episode has been on the scale of great to amazing!
Same here man. Just been a wholesome good show.
That's how you know a show is great, that its worst episode is another show's best episode
Yeah the fact Lois was not more understanding is frustrating. Jimmy knowing about Clark was hilarious. The first time we met you ripped the handle off the door. Clark: it could have been the screws 😂
It’s pretty risky of them to reveal Clark’s identity to Lois and Jimmy this early on. Now they’ll have to create a whole show that can’t rely on source material. We’ll see if they can do it
The intro did kind of imply that they would be a team of 3 in knowledge of Clark's identity. But all they have to change is that now Lois and Jimmy can cover for Clark. The way these characters developed is already pretty different. Lois has eyes on Clark in this show much more than she ever did in the source material starting out. With her interested in him it would just be more awkward actively trying to hold the secret from her. There's still alot they can borrow from the comics.
There absolutely is comic content of these two (and there's a lot more than just comics about Louis) after knowing Clark Kent is Superman. They can still keep taking things from other source materials and using them.
In fact, the whole "I already knew for years but I didn't think I needed to tell you" is straight up from a comic, although it is for another reason in the comic.
I really loved Jimmy in this episode as when he revealed that he always knew Clark was Superman, it was super refreshing to see and actually shows that Jimmy isn't an idiot and can pick up on things faster than most, as well understand the matter was a sensitive topic that he knew Clark was insecure about so he was willing to wait until his best friend was ready. Jimmy is so underrated and far more of a vital character to Superman than people realise.
I also loved this take on Brain and Mosuier Mallah as they were literally a married couple that are mad scientists and its refreshing to see them not be villains for once.
Can't wait until we see Mr Myxzptlk's next episode
Also kind of made sense that the photos from the first episode were blurry. Jimmy, the great photographer that he is was covering for Clark.
It’s worst episode is still it’s best.this was a great episode, it just didn’t have many defining moments like the other.
Even though this episode is my least favourite so far as well. But I still quite enjoyed it. Plus Jimmy and Lois know Clark's identity as Superman now, so be interesting going forward from here.
People were looking for a reason to hate Lois and then the characters moved past it immediately 😂
Nah i definitely still hate Lois at the moment
Still was a good episode, I can’t say the same for secret invasion
Thanks for the review. They're probably not revealing the General's name yet for a reason. But, is no one gonna talk about how weird it is that a human scientist fell in love with a gorilla?
Why the worst episode?? It was very funny, had great character development, charismatic villains and even had a shirtless Clark lol. If your biggest criticism is the heart to heart conversation during a fight, thats a really small thing
Shirtless Clark made this the best episode of the season 🥵🫣😍
Im sorry but the jimmy side of the story was so sleep imo
@@AshuraGC yeah, i agree.
I honestly really liked the Jimmy side of the story
In the "Silver Age" of DC Comics there was this character called Pete Ross who found out Superboy's secret identity but never told Clark because he didn't want to upset him. Seems like they're combining Jimmy's & Pete's characters.
When you said "upset him" my mind automatically went to Injustice 😂
Overall still a good episode.
Mallah and Brain were great. The resolution between our 3 amigos felt a bit rushed in my opinion. But Lois changing her mind about Clark was handled better than Jimmy I think.
The one thing I’m still wondering is why Jimmy let Lois pursue Superman all this time. I don’t really like when shows do the… let’s call it: “invincible twist”.
Jimmy does not know that Clark is superman anymore, but it didn't matter if he knew to begin with since nothing happened back when Clark revealed his identity a few years back. So unless they figure out a solution to the "if a normal person knows that Clark is Supes, then they'll die" (outside of Lois, other heroes and Lex), then he still won't know Clark is Superman.
Lois’ reaction to Clark being Superman was bad. But then she yelled ”Did you lie about your feelings for me?!”, and suddenly her bad reaction made a lot more sense. Fortunately Clark was able to prove that part relatively easily, followed by a brief look of remorse from Lois.
Eh it still didn't make sense for me, her getting angry makes sense, jumping off a building dosent
@@yaboyjackiechan1483 That’s fair. But earlier, Lois was already 99% sure Clark was Superman. Seeing the wounds that Clark tried to play off made it 100%. She may have known Clark would catch her, but yeah that was very unfair move. And after realizing Clark had been ”lying”(he never actually said he wasn’t Superman), she must have wondered ”What else did he lie about?”. That’s why her reaction otherwise made more sense to me.
@@Novice9241 still suicide baiting is an extremely toxic thing to do in an relationship no matter what your reasons are for it and her doing that definitely makes her need to apologize to Clark
@@yaboyjackiechan1483 You’re not wrong, but I’m afraid there’s not gonna be a verbal apology at this point. But so far it looks like Lois is planning to do that through actions.
@@Novice9241 that's something I don't really like though, kinda feels like their just sweeping it under the rug and trying to avoid Lois taking actual accountability for her actions, not a big fan of it but hey I'll hope for the best
I loved that Jimmy already knew, he’s a reporter like Lois, who figured it out on her own, so he should’ve been able to too
He's either General Lane or General Ealing from the comics. I didn't find the Brain and Mallah all that interesting but it was a great character episode between the three leads and got me way more interested in Jimmy overall.
Monsieur Mallah and Brain were fun. Its interesting to see new but still DC villains pop up in new ways as it keeps us on our toes. If they did nothing new we would just be repeating past stories and it would be predictable. If we did all NEW original characters we would just be waiting for some one familiar to show up.
Giving us things we know from other DC shows lets the world, however changed it gets still feel DC
Changing things up allows us to more easily accept the other changes and see this as a separate Earth from the main Earth.
Thematically for added relationship drama it would work to have the General be Sam Lane but we can't rule out any number of characters since back stories have been changed.
Im right now waiting to see a few things
1. When will we get Lex? What is his roll in all of this? What version will they use?
2. When we get to mr mxyzptlk how silly and how meta will the series be willing to go?
3. When will we see other DC heroes and will they be heroes when we see them?
4. When will Clark be able to translate or understand his father's message?
5. how many characters will we see and check off our list before each season ends?
That happens to me any time I watch a reboot. I go when will characters I know show up and how will they be written?
Im even considering the possibility that if this gets enough audience it could spin off other shows for the other heroes with in the same canon and style.
I honestly did not like how they “resolved” their situation. Lois’ behavior during the first half of the episode was totally out of line. Her snide comments pissed me off. Why would Clark lie about liking her? Also her getting mad at Jimmy for not telling her CLARK’s secret is just nonsensical. She still needs to apologize.
Seriously, an apology is all it would take for me. Is that so hard? And why's she acting like she found out about his crippling meth addiction?
this and young justice are my favorite animated DC TV shows.
Am I the only one who wants this show to crossover with Invincible?
"Since I learned you were an alien after we became friends, I'm cool with it. If I learned about it before becoming friends, I would've just thought it was cool."
I feel like jimmy could MAYBE say this, but I don't know.
Still like the show but I’m not liking how hypocritical Lois is being. She wants Clark to reveal all his secrets that are extremely dangerous to her after only a few weeks of knowing each other. Yet she refuses to reveal anything about herself and her dad who is the threat they’re facing. She thinks she has a right to know everything about Clark and was even mad at Jimmy for not telling her about him. But she put both Clark and Jimmy in risk in episode 1 by lying to them and keeping what Perry said a secret. I liked that Clark stood up for himself when she was berating him. I hope they don’t pretend what Lois is doing is perfectly fine
If they didn't use the brain and mallah, they could use ultra humanite and Dolores winters
Worst episode my ass dude!! IT WAS ADORABLE AND SWEET, DAMMIT!!🤬
🦍💖🤖🥰
mallah and the brain deserve better then this! They were honestly my favorite parts out of the episode! I hope they return later!💖🙏🏻🥺
I love all 6 episodes of MY ADVENTURES WITH SUPERMAN AMAZING new DC animated show
Wrong Monkey. 1/5
I Honestly thought it was a Good Episode, Yes it’s a Filler Episode but I Enjoy It, the Trio are Good, and unlike the Flash Fillers this Series knows how to Set Up the Main Villains of this Season, The Brain and Monsiur Mallah are a Interesting Change of Pace that I don’t mind it, it’s a Unique Spin of these Classic Villains that are much better than the Doom Patrol Series failed to deliver, I didn’t see Jimmy knowing Superman is Clark Coming, the Animation is Great, it seems Task Force X will build an Army Fusing them with that Tech that might hint is Brainiac’s Technology made to track Kryptonians, and I’m Curious to see what General Lane and Ivo would Do,8 out of 10.
Honestly, I have to disagree. This episode was probably one of my favorite in the season, with the only problem I have with it being the same problem all the episodes have: they really do feel like the story is straining under the episode length-limit.
But none of these episodes is really designed to stand alone in general, but rather to exist as "chapters" in the season "novel," so it's hard to argue definitively about that.
Honestly, I was so happy that they brought in the Brain x Monsieur Mallah love angle, because that was one element of the comics I was upset to not see in Doom Patrol. It's the most crazy relationship concept and honestly, their relationship here made me feel really happy.
Monsieur Maleah and Brain were hilarious and fun to see. I didn’t think this episode was the “worst” cause I still liked it.
I think Ivo might build the parasite suit to be used by some military operative that general lane trusts seeing as Ivo is more useful as an inventor compared to some of the other tech villains they've captured.
Finally back to Dc content
I TOLD you it was Monsieur Malla!!
this one didn’t really land for me, kinda disappointed with the follow up to last episodes cliffhanger
I personally really enjoy the jimmy focused episode
Clark and Lois are awesome but it gets kinda repetitive with those two
I think it makes sense the brain was going to kill Jimmy then decide not to. He thought Jimmy was a spy from Amanda waller, but because he's not they don't have to kill him
Personally, I've decided to drop the show after this. I liked Jimmy saying that he was going to wait for Clark to reveal his identity, but other than that there was nothing refreshing brought to the superhero identity imo (Spider Gwen was more refreshing and that was straight from the comics).
I did not like mallah or the brain's characterizations and Lois was kinda getting annoying (just a little bit).
Aren't your issues here to do with things that are over already? Identity's been revealed, mallah & brain have left & Lois will probably be less annoying given the resolution of conflict with Clark. Are there more underlying issues that relate to these or something?
@@mikerosoft2179 Yea mallah and Brain leaving is for the best for me, but there's still a possibility of them returning (if they don't, then fine). Sure, the identity reveal and Clark/Lois' conflict is resolved, but it is sped through and nothing interesting came out of the conflict (to be fair, I didn't know this season was 10 episodes or so).
I guess another issue that I've been having are the villains themselves and their designs. Things could change about them, but I have been losing interest in that possibility.
Edit: Oh, I haven't been too thrilled about the action, but I don't think this is an action based show, so I try not hold it against the show.
A mi me gusta cuando los heroes se enfrentan a villanos que no son suyos es un poco molesto con spiderman y batman por la cantidad de villanos que tienen pero es divertido con otros te hace darte cuenta que este es un universo interconectado
Why dose Jimmy not notice that Clark has no shirt on
Yeah this really wasn't a good follow up, especially after last week's episode cause so much controversy, i worry for the series as it could be one of those series that starts out strong and gets progressively weaker as the series goes on.
It was s great follow up, I don’t understand why you don’t think so
Over we, Lois Lane, over Superman Identity,
Over, We , Actor, Lois Lane over Superman Identity,
Could Brain only know him by the codename/nickname "The General" since they were involved in separate operations?
It was a character building episode and it’s hard to put both character building and story building in one 20 minute episode
I really don't like Jimmy already knowing about Clark's secret identity. It just opens up to many questions and feels like a random twist with no foreshadowing.
I think it was a mistake to have Jimmy and Clark already know each other. It's odd to think Clark is best friends with someone who is obsessed with mysteries like aliens.
It would just made sense if the show just started with Clark moving to the city for the first time after learning to control his super powers and he met Lois and Jimmy at the Daily Bugle.
There was forshodwing Jimmy commentating to Clark the clocks exspoded again. He knew Clark had super strength in episode 1
there are so many ape characters in the DCU that I tend to forget about Maula.
Worst episode? I actually really enjoyed this one!
Only reason I don’t think they chose bloodsport is bc Slade is an infinitely more popular character since bloodsport only really got popular bc of TSS
I really wasnt vibin with this episode. Hopefully next weeks bounces it back
My majn issue is tge way everyone talks and acts feels very standardized and not natural
I still throughly enjoyed and it has in no way whatsoever lessened my excitement for this show
wrong! it’s the best episode because it has M O N K E
Yeah, in comparison to the last one this episode is kinda weak. I did good work developing Jimmy to be way more respectable, and I love how they're building up the General. But overall, it just has me already looking twords next week's episode ESPECIALLY with the preview for it.
I don’t know how this was the worst episode. I liked it and it was really cool.
Can you do a video going through every single Batman Cowl every in order in comics and adaptations
5:30 Isn’t Anthony Ivo a Superman villain?
I know he was never Parasite until this show, but I thought he was a Superman villain.
He's more of an justice league villain
I thought Ultra-Humanite was a Flash villain.
I think he started out as a superman villain and then became more of a JSA (Justice Society) villain. Grodd is Flash's main gorilla villain.
How many episode will be in the first season??
10 episodes
yes, this is the worst episode, sorry I don't like this one, even clark didn't suit up as superman in this episode. I hope there won't be a bad episode like this anymore
It was one of the best episodes
@@madnessends2477 no, this is the worst. Even superman technically didn't appear in this episode
I thought this episode was pretty great. The last one was a little weak for me.
Worst episode!? Are you high? Six was great. If anything is maybe the worst episode, it'd be three, but even that's not bad.
Every episode has been the least great
Third, ALSO MAKE ANOTHER CINAMATIC UNIVERSE
I would like them to make another connected animated or anime universe. Be fun.
They're really doing something right when the "worst episode" is still a really good episode
