Not gonna lie, I'm finding it really difficult to narrate my whole day. I'll notice myself playing with my baby silently for a while, and then start babbling on about everything for a few minutes, and then back to silent without realizing it. I don't know why its so hard to just keep talking. 😑
I hear you, Kat! My second son is 4 months and I still forget to at times….or I’m just too tired, quite honestly! 😂 Don’t drive yourself crazy with this, though! You don’t have to be talking to them 24/7 (you need a break sometimes, momma 😉). Like I said, it is a really tough habit to get into. It’s also harder to hold a one-sided conversation when they can’t really talk back yet!
Thank you for the tips! My son is 19 months and he's not talking yet nor pointing. When I am narrating he may walk off and start doing his own thing and when I'm reading he always try to take the book from me and just want to flip through the pages. Should I continue the action or just stop once he show he's not interested?
Hey LaDeidra! I would definitely continue to narrate even if he seems like he’s not paying attention at the moment. The more exposure he has to language, the better. That’s great that he’s showing an interest in books! Maybe when he takes them, you can kind of look over the book and point to and label the pictures or talk about what’s happening. Although reading a book to your child is great for language development, you don’t always have to read a book word-for-word - just talking about the pictures is beneficial too! Hope this helps! So glad you enjoyed the video! ❤️
Very helpful! It's gonna be alot of work though. I'm doing my best teach my daughter. She is 15 months & still babbles vowels, she only can say mum & dadda.
Great video! I think I’m doing a pretty good job with my baby after watching your video. I definitely talk talk talk sing sing sing to my baby from 6AM-9PM. I fear the neighbors get a little annoyed & think I’m coocoo. Lol
Hi! If your child is not speaking at all at this age, then I recommend contacting your child's healthcare provider. They can speak with you about your concerns, evaluate your son, and recommend further intervention if necessary. Best of luck. 💗
My 20 month old insists on saying ah ah ah all day. She can say about 12 words, but refuses to say any of them unless I say, "what is this"? Or "How do you say"? 🤷♀️
Hey Chrissy! If she responds when you ask her “what’s this?” that’s fine. Every child is different. I hope you find the tips from the video helpful! ❤️
