About Us:
Cruising the World with SV Meraki! We are THREE Generations coming together to create the Cruising Meraki Project. Join Kevin, Shawna, Mick, Kate, Thomas and Bentley's sailing adventure of a lifetime. An adventure that leads them to meet wonderful people, experience new cultures and see the world in a whole new way. We hope you enjoy our project as much as we enjoy sharing it with you!
What is the Cruising Meraki Project?
The “Project” began back in 2018 when we first decided to start working towards a goal of sailing the world as 3 generations. The term “Project” is fitting for us as we are working together collaboratively to achieve a common goal.
meraki [mer-ah-kee] (verb) This is a word that modern Greeks often use to describe doing something with soul, creativity, or love - when you put “something of yourself” into what you’re doing, whatever it may be.
THREE Generations, TWO Boats, ONE Dream!

Hi guys, Sam here from Malaysia. Wish you a big congratulations on your lovely find! ❤ We're also about purchase our first sailboat and really looking forward to seeing it.
How many cruising years have you budgeted? & Where do you intend to sail?
Cheers ☺ looking forward to your videos.
@@24hourtravellers hey Sam! We’ve budgeted for 3 years to get from Victoria, down to Mexico, across the pacific, time in French poly etc and then to Australia (Mick’s homeland).
@Cruising Meraki is that a Hut8 hat you are wearing? And where in canada are you from?
@@STEVEKRSNIK hey! You might be seeing Kate’s “huf” hat?
Mick is originally from Melbourne Australia and Kate is born and raised in Victoria BC. We’ve been living in Vic for the past 13 or so years.
I'm about to retire from the military and want to purchase a Bluewater sailboat. This was a great episode on what to expect when buying an older vessel. I didn't really know where to start and what to expect budget wise. I have 100k US to spend so hopefully I can find a deal.
Just watching this old and very good video. It reminded me of the excitement the day my wife and I felt when we bought our boat both are gone now so thanks for the memories.
Good to see more people getting into the cruising scene, best of luck to you.
Thanks Denny!!
Congratulations! Looking forward to vicariously living your coming adventure.
Thanks so much for the great words of encouragement! So happy you’re along for the ride ⛵️
I am glad I found your channel. Victoria BC.
Get out of the marina as fast as possible the more you can do underway the better
This was definitely our plan of attack and while it’s a little more work along the way we’re so glad to be out here doing it!
just keep chasing that dream ... Congrates
Living the dream and extremely thankful for it!
Woo hoo ... my first appearance in a sailing You Tube video !
I've always wondered how much it costs for a Screen Actors' Guild membership.
Thanks for all your help with the purchase Max! We were so thankful for your expertise.
Just started watching your channel. I recognized Malibu, at the confluence of the Jervis and Princess Lousia Inlets. Spent a lot of time there in my younger days! I look forward to following your adventure.
Hey Lloyd, thanks so much for following along! Glad you were able to reminisce through our videos. We love Princess Louisa - Kate grew up going there also.
Nice video guys! It’s so exciting to see other people’s boat buying processes! We absolutely love our Passport 42, also a Stan Huntingford design 😎
Thanks so much guys! SH has sure designed beautiful boats built to go far off places 💕
lol he said " on the line " that made my day
Mick’s got lots of great one liners 🤪😆
"it's a safe area for weather"..." You have to watch out for hurricanes" ..😂 wait a minute
Im stoked to have found your channel. I can't wait to see how you and your family sailing full time. We have a dream to sail with my family, not full time, but week blocks as time permits.
I would love to hear about life as a family on a sail boat. The ins and outs sailing with kids.
One Life, One Search,
Shane,
PS: You can take the bloke out of the Aussie, but you can't take the Aussie out of the bloke!!! Just loved the "BBQ Mate" and there is always time for a beer. (One Aussie bloke here)
Hey Shane, we’re stoked to have you here. Love to hear about your dreams - boat life is seriously a good life!
Keep watching and you’ll see how life on the water with kids is hard work but we’ll worth it!
Haha and Mick is pretty happy to be on his way back to Aus (eventually).
@@CruisingMeraki i have many, many dreams. I'm lucky to have already lived some, namely living and working in Antarctica. I'd love to drive Australia in an expedition vehicle with my kids, and sail the West Australian coast with my kids.
I grew up travelling Australia with my family as a kid and just want to do the same with my kids.
One Life, One Search,
Shane
Hi I've been following you guys for 6 + months but hadn't seen the purchase episode BOAT = Bring Out Another Thousand
Hey Philip, thanks for being here and we’re glad you found where it all began! Meraki has come a long way since then; many laborious hours and miles under her keel! We’re SO thankful we lucked out with such a great boat (considering we had no idea what we were looking at 😅)

Subscribed! Video magic made this seem like an overnight purchase. Out of curiosity, how long did it take from initial offer to getting the keys?
Hey Jennifer! Thanks so much for following along! Everything happened really quick once our offer was accepted - from offer to keys in hand was about 2 weeks.
