This aired only 6 months after Lennon was murdered. Ringo was always pretty reserved and reticent, but just the same I sense the trauma hasn't ebbed enough yet. man her playboy spread was stunning. And I really did used to buy the magazine for the articles while in college. There was a lot of content in there. Back then we had not much TV so on a quiet night when not studying, it was quite relaxing to sit back and read a Playboy. Jokes, quips, fun facts, some really funny stories sometimes. Little Annie Fanny as silly as it was. But the one where they lampooned Arnold oh too funny

2:47 “Box”, for those who might not know, is a vulgar slang term for a ladies privates. I’m told it originated in Australia during WW2. Carson probably realized it when it was too late 😂

When the beetles arrived in America in February of 1964, some were saying they liked Paul or George or John. I had no idea who they were but I liked Ringo. I was five years old. I think Ringo was the favorite of the kinder crowd while the older kids prefered the other blokes.

This popped up - they refer to Wimbledon and Queen Elizabeth silver jubilee (25 years on throne). Just about to have diamond jubilee. 70 years - not just all my life (age 67) but my parents watched the coronation parade from stand in The Strand a few days before they got married. Dad got the tickets, he had just arrived from Nigeria. Mum had come to England a few weeks before to arrange the wedding with her parents. They met up outside a pub in Northumberland Avenue. Mum always cherished that moment. Never had much interest in royal family and neither did they except as it affected their work

Was in LA visiting a friend who working for NBC. We got VIP tickets to The Tonight Show. The show is tapped earlier in the day then broadcast at night. We were waiting in the "VIP" line and my wife heard a bloke with an English accent behind her. She turned around and it was Ringo Starr. This man could not of been nicer. He was the guest band that night and he came to make sure his friends got their passes. Surprised to see how short Ringo is. Average height for me and I was a good head taller.

Maybe but you also had to factor in that Ringo was just newly married and it had been 5 months after John was killed so I'm sure he was going thru a lot bgg of emotional stuff..and maybe some drinking too on the side.

*Of course* Ringo's not going to start "bawling" during an interview. Doesn't mean he didn't care. I'm sure he was still hurting very deeply over John's death. Do *you* walk around every single minute wearing your heart on your sleeve and especially during interviews? Please. 🙄

    • @javiergilvidal1558

@@jademusic1211 I'm not interesting enough to warrant being interviewed. In fact I'm not talking about Ringo, but a showbiz system which forces perennial cheerfulness in the midst of an earthquake. You don't need to "bawl" to mourn and bear a somewhat more restrained countenance. Nothing new, really. At the beginning of Beatlemania in the USA, The initiatic Ed Sullivan coven started the screeching, howling "happiness" upon the warm remains of John Kennedy.....
