Good points....kapci 6030 likes to be totally dry. a minimum of 3 days but even more is better like you say. Off the edge is key to eliminate burn through. Then Rotary polisher not orbital. IMO they are too slow and IMO useless. Using a good compound and getting the paint completely dry is very important to do it fast. Best info on UA-cam.....TONY!!!!
I painted my Honda Prelude 7 years ago, never put it back together and stored it for 5 years, than doing basically a flow coat by block sanding it and re-clearing it and was curious how far i could take it and re-blocked everything until all orange peele was gone and buffed it. It ended up being a Black Onyx Mirror and sold it right away. It ended up to be something that was impossible to keep clean that reveals any in-perfection and will enslave you. LOL
thats cool mate nice to see someone watching not in the same trade so to speak but can find the info helpfull, for the bodies you could also use p1500 wet with sat a firm rubber or foam block if its easier for the shapes youd get the same result
Hey Tony, well that was better than last night mate the audio was in sync and I think there was an extra bit of video on the end as well. It's amazing the finish you can get with the clearcoat after a colour sand, lets face it the off the gun finish was amazing but after the sanding and polishing it took it to another level, fantastic job mate👌👍 Enjoyed the live chat last nigh mate plus I think there was quite a few watching after a quiet start, it was a shame the audio was not right but that was totally out of your hands and was a error on YT side, thanks for doing this Tony🙏👍
your most welcome mate and thanks for sharing fella, but yeah sometimes youtube can be a pain i literally uploaded the exact same video file again no changes but second time it was right
Yeah you said it was the same file so it proves it was good old YT doing it's best to make things hard for you🤦♂️😂 So what's your goto brand of sanding disc these days mate for general prep work, I remember a long while back you used to go for Starke, you were using Sia 1500 in this video but do you used them for panel prep (p400-p800)? I ask because I got 3 boxes of Sia P400 net discs a long while back for £12 (£4 each box) which I thought was a bargain but they are a pos and don't cut well at all😟😠👍
Awesome video Tony fantastic end result and the method you used I really love it how you wipe off while you were sanding you put new ideas in my head because that method could use when you preparing cars for painting it will make it a lot easier haha 🤣 Tony I really enjoyed that video much love ❤️ buddy safe one 👍👍👍🙏👌💯💯💯
Nice work Tony , the customer must have deep pockets lol. On jobs like that i go one stage further and use trizact 6000 to make life a little easier. Most painters hate cutting and buffing but i quite enjoy it just working on an 04 black Lexus this week and a scale model Porche 911 which will also get the same process .
I enjoy watching your vids they are very informative can i just ask why you do not use an air fed mask when using 2k paint. I ask as I'm doing some touch up work on a badly sprayed van I recently purchased and wondered if it's safe using just a cartridge mask. If you have time to reply Thank You. Looking forward to watching more of your video's for more of your tips.
Hey mate any tips for buffer trials/holograms in the paint? Overworking the surface area to amount off compound? Or to much pressure? Can’t work it out. Using rotary also. Did recently purchase a dual action so going to give that a go next thanks
@@TonysRefinishingTV thank you bud really appreciate the fast reply. And also love your work it’s to a fantastic standard the uk definitely do it best 👌🏼
Hi Tony! Post paint job and curing, we are still wet sanding with 3M 1000-1500-2000 grit and then cutting compound. Would you recommend dry sanding with a pneumatic sander using the same grit round disk to make the work quicker and better? Thanks
I ended up getting some nasty pig tail marks in my clear coat from using a DA sander with a 3m trizak system from 1500-8000, that were so deep that only re-clearing it would have saved it. Blocking by hand is the only way to go in my opinion. It is a bit more effort but Aftern what i went through the only guarantee for an excellent outcome. And i religiously washed and rinsed with the garden hose to eliminate and dirt or sand during my blocking. 1500, 2000, 3000 and a good Radio
I've noticed in this video and others of yours, that when dry sanding with the 1500, you would stop now and then to wipe off the panel (as well as sometimes the pad). but when wet sanding, you only wipe after doing the whole panel. in my hand wet sanding, I find I frequently need to stop and spray the buildup off the sandpaper. am I doing something I shouldn't or don't need to do? I should mention I am sanding coats of paint and not clearcoat.
Maybe just use abit more water mate when wet sanding il often add a lot of water during the process but on smaller edges like this one is enough , when doing it dry I’m trying to keep as much dry clear away as I can cursing the process to stop build up on the disc
That finish is beyond awesome mate! If mine is half as good as that I'll be over the moon. I've sprayed mine in cellulose as it's a classic and more forgiving as I don't have a professional spray booth. Any difference in how I approach the polish on mine over this on clear? Cheers again for the great content and all your help and advice!

I finish with menzerna 4500 and a rotary buffer which works great.
see since getting a decent da i always finish with that so much nicer finish
Thank you. Sunmight sunfoam 3000 is affordable. Turtle wax 1 and done is great, its better than Meguiars ultimate.
Totally agree about the 1 and Done. It's up there with 3D One in my opinion.
SIA makes the best abrasives hands down.

Nice job! Have you tried 8000 trizact? Should skip right to the polish.
I haven’t mate tbh they’re so bloody expensive I’d rather just polish lol
Thanks again
Top video, groeten uit Holland
thanks
I have a V class and a S class that needs the orange peel polishing out.
I need someone to do it or advise on how to do it.
same way really but be carefull id probably start with p2000 discs as factory cars have less clear on than ones like this weve done
