    How nice to have some one discuss proper differences in women’s bodies, honestly and helpfully and trying to resolve these issues. Thank you.

    Such a great explanation on the sway back. Finally someone to talk about identifying if you need this adjustment. Thanks Whitney!

    Really glad you emphazised that this sway back adjustment applies only if you have to much length in the back of the bodice. Way too often the pooling in the back is misdiagnosed. I see a lot of people who need more width over the hips in the back doing swayback adjustments. I would say if you need to add the length you took out in the hollow of your back back in at the hem, take another look. You probably need the full but adjustment NOT a sway back. 💕

    I've watched this twice already! Thank you so much for this...I definitely did not know how to approach this when a pattern is on the fold and to consider the hem if it's a dress and the waist...all these important details! Your explanations and videos are so clear, so thank you!

      I always struggle with making trousers, I have great difficulty buying trousers that really fit due to a high rise but they are never truly comfortable. Would love a tutorial on adjust the rise in pants.

      I can definitely tackle crotch curves and full seat adjustments. Debra, I have a video I did recently where I’m showing how to adjust the rise in the Allegro shorts, but it would be the same process for any shorts/pants pattern!

    That was great!! I have severe lordosis, so I always have to remove fabric from my lower back-and sometimes add to the hips or butt as I have a bigger bottom-depending on the pattern!! :+)

    I always don’t put away the pattern until I’ve made the adjustments I want to make. To make it clearer to myself, I’ll put a squiggly line through old lines, because I’m not sure how long it will be before I use it again, and I’m sure to forget if I’ve added that inch to my waist or taken it away when I do go to cut the pattern out. Sometimes I will also date the change, right on the pattern. Or write it all on the pattern cover. So I don’t miss it. And thanks, while I don’t need to do a sway back adjustment, I do need to take a bit out of a pattern, and I was just about to have to look that up, and up pops your video. Timely. Thanks! Looking forward to zippers, that’ll be good.

      That’s a great idea for marking patterns. Most often quite a bit of time goes by between iterations and it’s so easy to forget what you’ve done most recently!

    Hello Whitney! I've been rewatching your fit videos, which I find very clear and helpful, as I'm preparing to make many dress toiles. Since we both have a sway back and narrow shoulders, I was wondering if you know a way of doing both adjustments at once? I haven't found the info in my Google and UA-cam searches. I'm thinking pivoting the top of the pattern towards the the center might do the trick, but I'm not sure if it would create problems I'm not foreseeing. I'd be most grateful if you could point me to a resource that addresses that (or maybe add this idea to you tutorials list!) Thank you very much!

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  2 роки тому

      I think I would keep the adjustments separate. I'm afraid you might try the grain line all crazy trying to do it all at once. That being said, you could always try it on some old bed sheets and see what happens! You might be on to something!

    This is a good tutorial, but my mind checked out after you were confused about what drag lines on the back mean and changed your thought a couple of times. That confused me, trying to understand, change, then change back again. I love your personality and will be watching for the zipper videos. Thank you.

    Do you need this adjustment if you are using knit or stretch fabric?

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  Рік тому

      Possibly. If you are short in the back torso, then you'll need the extra length removed regardless of it being a woven or stretch.

    Please start your zipper instructions with a basic zipper. My sister just started sewing and only buys patterns that do not need a zipper or buttons. I try to tell her that it’s not that hard but she is just afraid to try. Thank you. I love your channel and watch all your posts.

      I explained a bit how it differs in the tutorial, but I do another video showing how to do it on something that ends at the waist (like a skirt or pants).

    My shoulder seams fall forward, what kind of adjustment do I need? TIA

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  2 роки тому

      You need the opposite of a forward shoulder adjustment. Its pretty easy. You would take away the amount it's falling forward from the back shoulder seam and add that back to the front shoulder seam. That should move the seam back on your body so it sits on your shoulder!

    The actual tutorial doesn't begin until 9:14, and that's a unacceptably long intro. At least some of the intro was on topic, so I didn't click away, but it's still a long time to make people wait.
