  • CARPology's Luke Venus takes a look at the brand new Daiwa 19 Emblem 45 SCW QD reels.
The 45mm profile is recognised as the ultimate spool size for big distance casting. This new generation of Emblem utilises a reduced oscillation speed called Slow Cross Wrap, enhancing the line lay. The result is lower consumption of casting energy during line release, when combined with the friction reducing double lip profile of the LC spool increases casting distance by more than 5%.

Ive been carp fishing for over 40 years and since I retired my cardinal 55's I have only ever used Shimano reels. I thought Id give these a little try and I must say Im very impressed so far (only used them twice)

Whats the differences "IF MASSIVE" between this emblem 45 scw qd reel and the crosscast 45 scw qd reel? Apart from the price.

Extra bearing in the Emblem, spare spool and the emblem is slightly heavier.

Unless that lead cast at the speed of light you did not just hit the clip of 22 wraps. Barely got 10 wraps in front of you. False advertisement?

I’ve seen 3 crosscasts literally pop and washers flying everywhere after not even owning them 6 months. Both my pals have sent back to daiwa for a refund but they just fix them instead. Now all my friends use shimano

For 150 quid you can buy another brand with bait runner and you don't have to monkey around with the "quick drag"

I know! What a complete nightmare having to deal with a 1/4 turn.

Yeah Shimano way better qd crap for playing off drag harder to fine tune

I’ve been using the big baitrunners for years. They’re not the best for casting. They are very heavy because there’s 2 lots of gears in them

Baitrunners are for newbs absolutely pointless
