Good evening, apart from the price and the additional spool, is there a real difference between the wishker 45 qd ot and the emblem? I'm looking for a Long cast reel from Daiwa but I can't decide. I am looking for a reel that is solid and durable over time.
@@MetatronsCube23I guess it's one of those things that can never be categorised. Personally, for example who would put a Daiwa Whisker SS2600 in the low end bracket along with a Daiwa Sweepfire? I think there are 4 categories, Low End (Budget)£30-90, Mid Range £90-160, High End £160-290 and then Comp Spec £290+
Very nice reels however I am not sure if you were refering to Shimano's when you were explaining line lay as they have a much slower oscillation and more parallel line lay. I have heard it mentioned before that this type of line lay negatively affects distance which is incorrect. A quick search of fixed spool reel distance casting records will show that the Shimano's are at least equal to the Daiwa's and possibly hold more records than them. Both makes are as good as each other and it is down to personal choice.
Pointless cement for a mid ranger reel. When it's the higher end stuff setting the records you are referring to. You can also point out how Shamano are lighter, by replacing some internals with plastic.... For the win?
A folded handle on the outside helps keep the handle from being caught accidentally when one is in close proximity to the rods, especially by the belt loops on thigh waders that I usually wear. That's why I have been doing it for over 20 years anyway.
Your find they probably they have changed the washer configuration different material washers in the spool to make it 1 turn from free spool to locked up over the normal emblem 45
@@chrisbaxter6706 ive put the wisker 45 knob on my emblems 45s n its turned the drag into 3 quarter turn rather than the half a turn, apparently they were doing this in Europe a year ago, i rang diwa up in the uk n ordered the qdm knobs n they work a charm! ive also changed to ice washers but did that when i first got the reels
@@aidancarmichael6868 have a look at the felt washers from weston developments - changed mine to something I could work with now as I was ready to sack them off.
@@Toronto_James would do mate but ive put ice washers in them, n put these new qdm drag knobs on n there perfect now mate 3/4 of a turn with the reliability n smoothness of ice washers.
I upgraded my emblem 45’s Sith Carbon wassers, qdm knobs and woorden handles. These reels wouldn’t be worth the extra money to me. Ik guessing better quality gearing and hopefully lichter, but haven’t looked that up yet
Cross cast 45 scw qd , is another absolutely great reel and can be had for under 100 brand new each. Have used both and cannot tell a difference to justify these being over double the price.
I know a full time angler who swears by his Daiwas. You may be correct but unless you've bought every iteration of Daiwa reels for the last 20 years, it's impossible to know.

Joe what is the whisker reel in your surface set up you mentioned?
If I sat on that chair I would probably collapse it lol.Daiwa do some nice mid reals I don't use Daiwa carp reels but they look spot on.
How can you say £250 is mid range?
the high range starts at the 600-700$ mark

Diawa bisia are £850 ! ( TOURNAMENT) , at £250 each they are mid range or lower
If they bought out a new range called mine are 500quid more than yours xs that we’re no better, there’d be plenty of dink’s queuing up for them.
Reels have gone as far as they can go,nothing to see here
Do tell more about new Korda Kaizen rods! :)
carpology don't give bad reviews,it's not in their interest
They don't even do reviews
Just paid for adverts
As long as you operate in the world with that in mind, you'll be alright.

Can you do a video on the new infinity rods
