    The soundtrack of tea times as a child. My Father came home at the same time every night and we all listened to the John Dunn Show. One of the most genuine presenters, not like today with presenters egos.

    Oh, how wonderful that I get to hear his lovely voice again. I remember being in the kitchen with mum - getting tea ready and then the washing up. I have missed his voice a lot.

    I worked on the John Dunn Show in the early 1990's as a researcher. It was simply a delight to work on that programme. John was such a lovely person. Occasionally I'd come up with the odd duff idea for an item - I was only about 22 - but he was so nice about it. One of the music producers was called Alison Tuohy who went off to work in Bangkok and I lost touch. Get in touch Alison if you are seeing this!

    I used to love John Dunn - I was 17 at the time this programme was broadcast. Radio 2 is just rubbish now and I am 53. It used to be a delightful network.

    One of my all-time broadcasting heroes.
    I was born "John Dunn" but my radio shows went out at the same time as his in the 1980s so I changed my name to "John Richards", only to find another John Richards broadcasting on BBC Radio Cambridge when I moved to Cambridge. My father, also called John Dunn, was similarly born in Glasgow. Like John, I started my radio broadcasting career in the RAF.

    How I miss Radio 2. It offered so many interesting and fun programmes. People spoke nicely, politely and intelligently and were not over excited. Nothing will ever replace that format.

    Who was the mystery voice I wonder? It sounds like an author or playwright. John Dunn was a true gentleman, (and stood tall at 6'7" all told). Colin Berry coming in with the continuity at the end. Great era of broadcasting before being overrun by adolescent egotists.

    • @rotonda4068
      @rotonda4068 5 років тому +6

      Is it Colin or John ‘Boggy’ Marsh on continuity duty? Either way it’s a great clip. John Dunn’s slot in the schedule is occupied now by, erm, Sara Cox. RIP John.

    Amazing aircheck. I hope you have those recordings of separate segments for MW (sport) and VHF (arts, if I'm not mistaken) during Mr. Dunn's timeslot.
    I wonder why they have those separate segment.
    Thanks!
