takes me back to waking up for school or the first days of work where my dad had the radio on listening to Ray on in the background. Miss Ray and my Dad
Not for the first time, "I have something in my eye" whenever I hear this genius at work. My broadcasting hero and who inspired me to adopt and attempt something of a similar wacky style when I had the pleasure of working on local English speaking radio in Spain. Can't believe it's 30 years ago. I also remember missing him on the morning of January 29th...I share my birthday with Ray's great friend Colin Berry who mentioned that fact on his tribute show. Wonderful broadcaster, whose like we we will never hear again
Way above the rest, this fellow was the definitive master of the airwaves .. around the clock, wherever he appeared, a consummate and very clever and articulate broadcaster. Certainly his best shift was the early one .. happy memories of looking forward to getting up up for the early shift at 5.30! Simply the best!
OMG!! At about20 mins in, The Great Ray Moore does a dedication for a long lost friend of mine Dave Castle from Deeside. What are the chances!!! Ray was the greatest of wordsmiths.
This is just so wonderful! Ray Moore saw me through all my shift working years as a nurse. He just really understood that weird twilight world that 'normal' people don't get. I loved his theme tune the Mike Leander orchestra playing 'Here, There and Everywhere', I loved the way he would play a play a Frank Sinatra record and say 'I rang him last night, never returned my call' or say Burt Baccarach with a liverpudlian accent. He was a one off and deserved far more recognition. No on had ever replaced him.
Met Ray in 1985 at 5. 30 in the Morning at Stretford park athletic running track when he started his outside broadcast. He interviewed me as I enlighten him about the Bogarts in Bogarts Hole Clough. Following year he started the bogeyed jog. A true gent and such a sad loss when cancer struck. I had his autobiography Tomorrow is to late but have sadly lost it. It was so nostalgic especially when he said that he was so hard up he knew when the bank manager went to lunch and went in to cash a rubber cheque.Brilliant Thanks for posting the clip and kind thoughts to Ray & Norma somewhere in the Priston hole Robert Best
Dentures No Teeth, Gatport Airwick, BWM and the diverse sports he would dream up... happy memories of driving home from the night shift listening to the wonderful Ray Moore. Very sadly missed.
One of the undisputed greats. Fans of Ray may be interested to hear that Sitiveni Rabuka is still going strong. In fact he was leader of the opposition in Fiji only last year. He never did get to stand in for Ray but he did, apparently, consider staging another coup to oust Derek Jameson as doing his show would have meant more money.
Thank you so much for uploading. I absolutely adored Ray’s broadcasts. A true genius and am so lucky to have met and interviewed him a couple of times in the 80’s
This was a time when you had to have actual broadcasting talent like Ray and Terry to get on the radio. Not like today in 2020 when any crappy reality show idiot like Rylan Clark can have a Radio 2 show. It's terrible how awful Radio 2 has become.
Ray Moore a much missed GIANT of Radio 2 We will not see his likes again, just listen and enjoy! Thank you, Ray. R.I.P
So fabulous to hear Ray again. So missed.
A sadly missed great broadcaster.
Absolutely. Lovely to hear him again. X
He was a one off. So special and taken far to soon. How I wish radio was still like this. I'm 49 and I just loved listening to Terry and Ray.

Truly wonderful memories of a fantastically brilliant radio wordsmith. God bless you Ray. Love to Management.
Ray and Terry classic morning radio. So funny .

pro tip: watch series on flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Marcus Beckham Yup, I have been using flixzone for since december myself :)
@Marcus Beckham yea, have been using flixzone for months myself :)
Never understood why Ray didn't take over Wogans slot when he left? Would've been a lot better than the woeful Jameson.
Almost forgot just how good Ray Moore was and how very funny
he used to be, it was a great show to wake up to. Paul Bacchus
Thanks Ray, still sadly missed. R.I.P
Ray was Ken Bruce's Mentor and a great friend 📻🎶
Ray Moore a broadcaster who was well-loved by both his colleagues and listeners and well missed by everyone to

Oh how I miss this Radio 2.

A great broadcaster, lord rest Ray .
Thank you for sharing this.
Classic broadcasting.Nothing to touch it these days, sadly
14:57 That fabulous R2 News jingle!
A great broadcaster
Thank you so much for uploading this. I feel like a little piece of the past has come back.
As a youngster I couldn't stand radio 2 as a apprentice, but how I warmed to it!!

You can add Zoe effin Ball ,Sara Cox,Jo whiley, Scott Mills, some Welsh twat olwin something, and not forgetting Vernon Kay,what is the world coming to.
@@jimduffy1967 Vernon is 50 but is still very immature. Wogan was just 34 when he started on Radio 2. So much more mature.
Radio 2 abysmal now.
The incomparable Ray Moore in the shadow of the Merton Hotel
what a true genius of the wireless
good old Ray was also a word smith
The boat was always broke... happily 😂
It just amazes me to hear DJs doing 2-hour stints on Radio 2, when the norm elsewhere are three- to four-hour shifts.
@@octaviussludberry9016 hear, I mean; my apologies.
Big alma ! Xx bless him c
I believe I heard Jeff "Soccer Saturday" Stelling on the ol' Sport on 2 trail there. 🤔
Sad, but by the time of this broadcast Ray already knew he had terminal cancer with at best only two years to live.
I think it was just a week after he'd found out about his cancer. One of the greatest broadcasters of all time.
Does anyone know the name of the song by the Pete Moore Orchestra at 9:04? Thanks
A real dj. All gabbie annies now. Awful !!
