A cool callback to ATLA is that the way Meelo exposed Bumi as an airbender, it's the exact same way King Bumi exposed Aang during their feast in Omashu, down to the air sphere to stop the plate.

non spoiler: “how are you so good with airbending???” zaheer is already a good fighter, he’s in an isolated white lotus prison for God’s sake, him getting airbending was just an extension of what he already knows and you can tell in his fighting style with it, like you said it’s overly aggressive; he looks like an amateur

Dude was such a monster he had to he locked up there without bending. Ruthless. Also this is the best season. Mainly because season 3 and 4 were actually greenlit together so there actually feels like there is a flow. Nickleodeons decisions with korra as an IP was just mindboggling
Zaheer is almost my favorite villain of the avatar verse. For now it's still Azula, but Azula had way more time to become goated. If Zaheer got the same amount of time he may have even surpassed her.
He's a better villain imo 🤷 all the korra villains aside from unalouq r better than the atla villains

the legendary Henry Rollins voices Zaheer, that man is one of the coolest and most sincere people from what I can tell from interviews, behind the scenes, stories from people who know him, worked with him or just met him as a fan. This man is the very definition of PUNK, he was front man for two different punk bands in the 80's, he also turned out to be a great actor(check him out in He Never Died, its so good!) and a great comedian, he toured around with a stand up routine for awhile then he got his own show called the Henry rollins Show of course, he was in Son of Anarchy and hes a HUGE activist and has been a supporter of LGBTQAI+ rights since he was in High School, he did a bunch of USO tours and fights for Veteran rights here in the US, also a big supported of legalizing weed specifically because he sees it as civil rights issue seeing that something like 80%(dont quote me on that but it is high) of people fined or even jailed for weed possession are people of color. He is more than happy to talk about politics and most of his stand up is indeed political. If you are gonna get anyone to voice an antagonist like Zaheer, you get Henry Rollins lol

My thing about Zaheer is that he isn't magically "masterful" at airbending, but he was always a great martial artist. So that in conjunction with airbending makes him a problem. Cuz thing about it, he was in prison before he got the airbending so he was already a big problem anyways

Korra never learned the ability to give or take away bending. when she restored overtones bending she was using the avatar state and probably Aangs spirit to help her do the task.
n now that her conection to him n all past avatars is/are broken she basicly cant do anything unless she learns it personaly.
she still gets the power up while using the avatar state so thats good.
but from now on she has to explain to every new avatar how to be one since shes now the first avatar in this new cycle.

Not only is this the best book of Korra, this is the best book in the entire franchise of avatar imo. And korra as a character in this book and the next is my fav character in the franchise as well.

Zahir's voice is very different of what I spected. In the portuguese dub he has a deep and calm voice and he sounds haunting.
Zaheer is voiced by American punk rock legend Henry Rollins, and looks pretty much exactly the same as him as well.
5:01 what I love about this scene, is how it parallels when the original gAang met with King Bumi.

Lets put it this way: This man was locked in a sealed room on top of a piller that had an extenting bridge to get to it. HE WAS ALREADY A PROBLEM. And now, he has range to all of his attacks. And if it wasnt obvious from him quoting an airbender, but he studied airbending forms, before he was a bender. I wont spoil why though
Maybe with the exception of season 1 and 2 each season is kind of a response to the things that happened and the questions that are raised in the pervious book of Kora. I find that pretty interesting.

Airbending is not about fight at all. It’s about avoiding and evading, going with the flow.
My biggest complaint from the premiere is how they don't really address that several people in the city are displaced because of the vines and they just have to deal with it because Korra dips.
Zaheer sure is gonna feel stupid once he realizes he locked metal benders behind metal bars.

Zaheer is easily the best villain in Korra, and one of the best of all time. He is voiced by legendary punk rocker, philosopher, and Grammy-award-winning spoken-word artist Henry Rollins. He also won the 2015 BTVA People's Choice Voice Acting Award for Best Male Vocal Performance in a Television Series in a Supporting Role - Action/Drama for his performance as Zaheer. Zaheer is a True Believer, top-tier fighter, and highly intelligent. This makes him a force to be reckoned with and a GREAT villain. Enjoy!

About the only thing I did not like about this season was how Zaheer was so competent at airbending from the start. And no, reading books does not mean you can apply it in practice perfectly from the get go.
To be fair, he wasn't applying it "perfectly," his fight with Tenzin shows that, and as they mentioned his techniques don't look like that of an airbender, most of it is his own fighting skills he applies to bending.
@@andreaprochowski4717 I meant is a figure of speech, not literally. It does not matter what 'techniques' he uses. He's using an ability he's never had. I can be a master of the longsword, that does not mean I would be a capable spear fighter.
@@VolrinSethdifference is that bending is more martial arts. You can do the moves but not bend any element. So the fact is, all he has to do is study the actual movements. As soon as he found out he could air bend he was good. Remember, we had a 2 week time skip, he coulda been the first new airbender, and practiced before the white lotus members knew. It's really not that far fetched

If you look at him compared to the other airbenders he isn’t actually very good at the start. Just good at martial arts and applying the air bending to that which catches the white lotus off guard

I cant STAND President Raiko, he needs to be replaced, had it with his incessant whining and blaming the Avatar all the time. Youre the President, do something yourself as well. Just because youre a non bender in that world doesnt mean your powerless to act or help.
