Happy Adventure Thursday!! Just 1 more episode until our Visas take us back to The States, and you’ll get to enjoy it this Sunday! Been enjoying sharing twice a week with you all for this little bit 😘 Big love!! Mr and Mrs A
I feel I am following my Son & partner who live in the land locked country of Botswana. 🐘🦏🦓😆I know you would enjoy it there only may be difficult for you to get there. Watching your journeys I can see how beautiful our earth is, if only more humans were as brave as you both. VERY well done & THANK YOU BOTH for all the hours of adventure & pleasure you give me. 🤗
When I came to Portugal, I rented a fully equipped vacation home in the center of the country so that I could take 6 months to find the right location for me. I feel that this kept me from making a snap emotional decision that I might have regretted later. In the end, I stayed within a few kilometers of that original location.
Charred ground can be used as a negotiating tool but noise from a racetrack will always be a liability and depreciate your property and your enjoyment of said property.
Hi guys, I'm Portuguese and I congratulate you for opening your account in Portugal, now you can also use the MB way mobile application and link your account there, it's fantastic. As a Portuguese I know that dealing with bureaucratic matters is not easy, I wish you good luck and patience for everything you need to deal with, you just have to think positively.
I’m from Portugal and the bureaucracy in Portugal is a nightmare I know but congratulations to you guys making your dreams come true and I hope you guys enjoy Portugal 🇵🇹👍
I can imagine the last property being planted and loved enough to help it renew itself and transforming it into something really special. Fires are good for the land. But, I think with your #1 requirement being peace.. the noise from that track might be a little too much... Depending on how often you have to deal with it. Once per year? Might be worth putting up with it if only seasonal. But only if you can help make it green again. Otherwise I say... Keep looking. You'll know.. when you know.
I wouldn't touch that one with a barge pole! That wasn't ''wind blown' that was a fire. And if you have had one there will be more. Those wells looked disgusting. Add in the dubious ownership, and the fudgy boundaries, the suspect planning permission...Leave well alone! Its a Lot of Money too! If you plan to use the land, you need to check it out fertility wise. I lived on the Spain/Portugal border for 13years and I have seen scams, people tied up in all manner of crap and very few actually making it. And I hate to say it, but Portugal is worse than Spain. I knew a 62 year old woman who was sold a ruin and a chunk of mountain with a spring that wasn't hers by a scammer who did not have anything to do with it! They find ruins and idiots and match them up! She never did own the place and only had water because the old guy who owned the land next door let her use his spring. Be Very Very careful
That first millennium bank is an nightmare, I feel your pain! I had so many issue trying to open a bank account there last week! I Should of walked across the road, but instead went back to the uk with a sour taste in my mouth! Nightmare!
Good, your dream is getting closer and closer. I'm certain your vision of life abroad is about to come to fruition; just takes some time. Best of luck.
Look at you 💎...1. NIF number✔ 2. Portuguese bank account✔ 3.Lawyer✔ Important steps, especially the third one 👍🏻 You really left us with a cliffhanger. So looking forward to next Thursday! Boa noite from Sweden 💙💛/Katarina
I've watched Amon & Christina Browning, Our Rich Journey youtube's channel on their move to portugal (with admiration) and don't recall any of their videos being as detailed...especially with opening a bank account. Thanks so much!
Congratulations on these amazing videos… I’m from Lisbon, but my family is from Portimão. Love to hear foreigners falling in love with our country 💗💗💗💗 Currently I’m living in Zurich, and missing those beaches and food a lot 😍😍 wishing you much love and happiness
Another great Adventure! Thanks for more property tours. The best part is the bank account adventure, congratulations! Much Love and peace your way! 💕✌️🙏
Don't just settle for less than your heart tells you is right. I drove around on my motorbike coming from Belgium to see in what region I wanted to live. And even then I took me over a year to find my paradise... I felt it instantly once I found it... and that was 19 years ago on a +54 acres land in the hills in a micro climate in Spain... Paradise, did I say that already? ;)
Yayyy!! So exciting to see you one step closer with the logistics. I love that you’re leaning towards a renovation, that will be so creatively rewarding 😃 Seeing how far your money goes in Portugal… now you got me thinking that this might be a good spot if we want a second home one day…
"Pata de veado" is one of my favorite sweets (you can find it all over the country) and that one looked fluffy, as it should (the dry ones aren't that good and/or that fresh). :-) I hope you enjoyed it. As for settling in Portugal, as a native here I can only wish you all the best and that you're very happy here. There are many YT channels about foreigners who bought a farm and are happily living off grid here ("Ok Portugal", "Our Portuguese Homestead", "Farmer for Fun", "Frankie on the Road", etc, etc). The beginning will likely be difficult, so be prepared for some hardship. I see you're trying some words in Portuguese, which is excellent. That will really help you integrating. I also see you still translate metric to imperial, I guess that's a harder process... Haha! Again, all the best!
Thank you for sharing another great adventure. I got all emo at the end when you got home with the pastries and the reality of the move got even more real with the bank account. 💜💜✨
For that price, for sure you can find something much better, I am sure of that, I can see you guys in a more whimsical and magical place, big hug and good luck! 😊🙏❤️
So great that you guys are getting things in order before moving to Portugal. Is better to be prepared and well informed. This was great. Be safe!😘🤗🌼🇻🇪
Yup - not simple, this moving continents thing. Did it twice - it was complex each time, but SO worth it in the end. The process is the important part, even though the end result SEEMS the most important. Keep your goals in mind, but enjoy every step - each one has its own milestone status. You will look back with such satisfaction.
Both Portugal and Spain (and Greece) tend to have wildfires over summer, so much so, that pre pandemic, helicopter operators in Australia take their gear over on contract. So check with fire authorities about possibility of fires in areas you’re looking at. Small fires can be very dangerous when driven by wild winds. Not sure of the reasons, but people moving away from small communities leaving them liable to get overgrown when people are not around to do regular maintenance. Obviously building approvals are priority, drinkable Water is high priority and access (no overgrown roadways) to escape fires if isolated from town water. Many people who have limited idea of agriculture may not appreciate that some blocks of land while appearing large, could be too small or may not have suitable soils for their lifestyle
I have always had a desire to live in Portugal. Full time or part time. My husband and I have learned so much from your experience and videos. We’re seniors like you r mom and dad. Truly respect your dreams and journey. While your young think out of the box. Blessings
It all depends in what you are after in a property and how comfortable you want the home to be. Older buildings have no insulation and are very humid foundations are very shallow and cement floors are build in top of soil with no barrier. Of course region is also a choice that comes with a price. We decided to sell a 28 years old family home that would cost us more to upgrade, and purchase a new home that was in the process of been built to latest standard building codes. Moved in last November home was at 22 Celsius through out the winter months with ease from the heat pumps. Cheers and good luck on your search Brittany and Drew, and welcome to our birth country, from a retired Portuguese/Canadian snowbirds that give up Florida winters for Portugal.
Wise words. It is so easy for foreigners with rose tinted spectacles to buy a money pit. Whatever they tell you it will take to put right double ,triple, even quadruple! And Victor is spot on with his descriptions. I was told, by an unreliable source, that one reason the Iberians use tiling so much is it hides the mould and mildew in the winter and can be wiped off! Iberian houses, even the modern ones, are cold in Winter. It will not always be sun and warm temperatures. Of course that will depend on region, but I lived on the fringe of the Serra de Mamede in the Alto Alentejo and I can assure you that was both cold and wet for at least 6 weeks. Non stop rain - if you were lucky. Because you didn't get any more for the year. So although it was miserable you were grateful too.
Wow! Can't wait to hear which property you choose, if any. Great informative video today. How do your parents feel about you moving so far away? Take Care & Stay Safe, hugs UK
Glad you enjoyed it!! My dad had lived all over the country (born in France, Canada, Florida, California, 8 years in Brazil and he’s married to a Portuguese/Brazilian - he will likely end up living in Brazil or Portugal), my mom lives in Florida but hasn’t been happy there for years, she’s considering Baja, Mexico or going back to her hometown in Pennsylvania. Drew’s parents are open to whatever makes us happy, and in the end I think that’s what they all want. Of course they would like us to be close to them, but they understand we’re just following our hearts and going where His great plans for us guide us 🙏❤️😘 Bug hugs back, xx
I loved the house on the burnt land....so many possibilities. Very similar to the Indie Projects homestead. House, fruit trees, dam, and lots of property. A lot of work needed but you're young and healthy.
I am enjoying your channel. We live in the States and just got back from our apartment in Lagos that we bought in 2019. The property by the race track seems like a good deal if you can get it. The MotoGP was just there and also F1. This would be a great place for a camp site to service the thousand of race fans who come to these events.
Congratulations on making these moves. Wishing you lots of patience…you will need it as an American who is used to getting things done quickly that will be the biggest challenge for you both. The trade off is worth it though. The country is beautiful and so are the people. Enjoy and best of luck to you both! I miss it as I haven’t returned in 5 years which is the longest I’ve been away from the motherland
It would be very wise to vet and verify everything you are told and get it in writing, especially on the planning and permits requirements. Best of luck!!
Definitely! I have seen so many get conned, get into projects that never had a hope, and a lot of it is down to A Daydreaming. B.Not checking Everything. C. Believing the oh so nice Locals/Sales person D Finding out the boring stuff. Like what is or is not allowed what it wil cost,t axes... . It changes from one town to another, even from one clerk to another. make sure you get all the paperwork and everything in triplicate. Those 'lovely' people are lovely, but they will exploit you if they can. For one thing you are 'Rich Foreigners' so you can afford it. Don't trust anyone. Might sound harsh on the honest ones, but it saves you from getting ripped off or used by those who are not.
@@hogwashmcturnip8930 At some point we have to have trust but doing the homework is imperative. We are finding the right professionals to help us get the answers we need.
It would also be helpful to have an idea as to the cost to make the improvements to the house and infrastructure...roads, parking, outbuildings for storage and workshop. It will be easy to spend at least double for what you think you'll need.
I’m so excited for you two!! I too have been looking at Portugal and the Azores for a possible move, but decided to invest in a remodel of my current condo. So I’m glad you are sharing this adventure!! I’m excited for your future
MY father taught me the cure for depression and it works great and permanently. Micro dose fresh magic mushrooms for 1 week. Never to the point of illusions. The chemicals in the shtooms allow positive connection to good memory.
This last property is scary guys. Looks like it needs a lot of work or maybe a complete tear down. Could end up to be a very expensive reno project. Even though the location wasn’t what you wanted, I liked the white villas, simply because they looked like they were in new condition and had nice clay tile roofs. Would cost less to fix up the way you want too. Good luck choosing the perfect property lovelies. Hard decision! 🥰
Millenium is also an excellent place for all your insurance needs (when you're ready for that). Lots of paperwork and a lot more signatures too. Good luck with whatever path you choose.
About that campground purchase options: maybe the owner would consider an owner-carry finance arrangement on a temporary basis; so it is drawn-up as a legal doc with you, the owner, and a property lawyer; and where the temporary part comes in that would appeal, most likely, to the owner is when you guys meet a local lender's requirements you transition the loan; and the owner gets paid your agreed sale price, minus, of coarse, what equity you have under the owner-carry payments; just a thought. . . :>/
Really old? That kitchen is 100 years old? Heck, our old farm house has old pine timbers from the 1890s still holding it up. The bark is still on the timbers. Guess that makes the old farm house really old too. You'd never know it from the aluminum siding...
concur with the hassle of opening a bank account! I had to because the bank I was with is leaving Ireland. You have to state where your money is coming from!!! It's all about fraud prevention and anti money-laundering
I had friends who lived not far from a race track and the wind direction made a huge difference to the noise. On the bad days it was very annoying...such a high-pitched screamy-whiny noise which, if you love racing, you'd probably enjoy:) On the good days we forgot the track was there. Loved this video. Interesting, informative, and fun! Thank you for sharing your adventure.
Thanks for sharing! The wind was in our favor the day we were there visiting. It was only a very faint sound. I can only imagine on race days or when a lot of cars are zipping about.
Totally agree. Of course, we don't know what they want, but I would not touch any of these. The first thing to think when looking in places like this is Why is this like this? Why is this business for sale?. If it is a ruin it is a ruin for a reason .Usually that it became untenable. You then have to ask yourself if it can be rescued in the 21st century and how much it will cost, both in money, work, legal stuff. How much future do we have with it? If it is in the middle of nowhere ,do I really want to be making huge trips for simple stuff? How will we cope if one of us gets ill or disabled? Young people tend to forget the fragility of life. But sometimes it has a nasty way of reminding us. i went from being as fit as a flea to someone who cannot bend and has to walk with a stick thanks to a broken ankle in a remote place! Also, my partner died of a heart attack because it took them 5 hours to find us. And we had actually factored these things in! We were going to have a few years in the Campo, while we chose a nice little town to retire to. Yeah, right! We can't prepare for every eventuality ,and we can't live in fear of them ,but we can be aware of them.
@@hogwashmcturnip8930 Amen...you are so right. Better to take a little more time on the front end to research thoroughly and be happy with the decision than to make a quick decision that will end up being a disappointment in the end.
Its like watching house hunters international, but without the TVness! You guys are creators and that burned property will give you a lot to create on. Thank you for explaining opening a bank account in another country as a foreigner. Quite interesting how much info they need.
Hey Charlie and Liz! Nice bumping into you two the other day. Glad you enjoyed this info and the lack of TVness haha 😁 Hope your road trip is going well!
That property did seem very special but we haven't seen what I assume to be your dreambase (water mill?). I hope it's close to the ocean, too. It does have water, though, or they are not the best engineers!
This list of documents sounds very similar to what happens in France. I am self-employed and all documents must be less than 3 months old in France. So I totally sympathise 😀
Congrats guys and I definitely have to say not because it’s my country but you guys made the right decision to choose my beautiful Portugal why? Well beautiful nature all around Portugal with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, amazing bakeries and fresh seafood restaurants, friendly people, and lots of history and list goes on. Ohh and by the way we’re located In the west coast of Europe so it’s easier to travel to USA for only 5hrs and you can travel to our beautiful next door country which is Spain and France and the list goes on. Well congrats guys and may God bless you on your new journey ❤️👍🥂
Buenos Diaz Brittany and Drew! I can't wait to see which property you guys bought and the progress of it. Sending hugs and loving thoughts on your new adventure. ✌💗
Wow! So glad to hear about Millineum BCN bank. I'm filling out forms and will sign them on Thursday (Thanksgiving day) on a Zoom call with my legal team, to open an account with them. I think they may be trying to get me into the brokerage account etc.... when all I want is to meet the minimum requirments for immigration on the D-7 visa. I do have significant assets to transfer to the EU market but not until I'm already there and can, at my leisure, explore all the options. I hope to be living in Portugal by Feb 15.
You know just how to make my day! I love how vibrant colors are in this video.❤💯💢💛 Such a scenic view ,looks great. Impressive upload. You continue to impress me. You make the small things count.🤩😂
Really enjoying going on the property tours with you. Hope you tell and show the one you pick, and that it becomes yours to transform. Little aside: you two both have great glasses. Can you share where you got them, please? See you Thursday, or sooner. 😊
Awe Thanks! We have enjoyed it too. Glad you like the specs, I, Drew, wear them all the time. They are from a sponsor we worked with in the past. bit.ly/3DzaUUU See you Sunday again 😘
I would check to make sure it is not in area that experiences frequent droughts and that is teh reason that is experiences frequent fires ... like some area in California
@@Mrandmrsadventure absolutely, it has to work on all angles. We were in Portugal when the volcano Ash hit, we drove loads and visited loads, now I feel we need to see loads more. Take care x
This is So exciting! Congratulations!! Baby steps and Milestones were my words for this day. Fire is cleansing, Keyed in on term POTENTIAL. Fish for life. I hear police gun range over hills about 3 miles away. Sounds like a war zone sometimes. Then 2 airports one with seaplane access seemed so Century 21 in childhood. Get used to sounds and vintage airships close over house is kinda nostalgic.
Thank you! We appreciate the kind words 😊 Living in our van has made us very attentive to our surroundings and noice. That's quite the picture you painted, I guess you get used to it over time. That's something we are making sure to avoid as we look for the right place.
What a fabulous addition you two will make to the blessed land of Portugal--it does seem that quality people end up there from everywhere. In any event love your spirit you are so beautifully authentic and I am sure the Gods do and will continue to keep you both in their thoughts.
Yeah,it attracts quality scammers, quality drug dealers, quality drug growers, quality child murderers, quality crooks of all kinds! Stop daydreaming. I knew a few, learned of a few, thankfully I never knew or learned of a child murderer. It is just a country with humans in it. Where humans go so do the bad elements.

It would also be helpful to have an idea as to the cost to make the improvements to the house and infrastructure...roads, parking, outbuildings for storage and workshop. It will be easy to spend at least double for what you think you'll need.
I am so happy for you both and look forward to learning which property you choose!!
I’m so excited for you two!! I too have been looking at Portugal and the Azores for a possible move, but decided to invest in a remodel of my current condo. So I’m glad you are sharing this adventure!! I’m excited for your future
Another brilliant video guys!
Awe Thanks 🙏 Glad you enjoyed it!
@@Mrandmrsadventure see the 200 yr old food forest in vietnam video it is great!
@@Mrandmrsadventure i wonder if a chiro skilled in nutrition could help you with depression
Congrats, keeping those finger's crossed, also Bea and Theo's place looking GR8 keep the blog's up to date Very nervous for you both 🌞🌞👍👍
Yes, there place is coming along beautifully! No need to be nervous, every adventurer must be calm in the midst of a good challenge ✨💛🇵🇹😊
Millenium is also an excellent place for all your insurance needs (when you're ready for that). Lots of paperwork and a lot more signatures too. Good luck with whatever path you choose.
Yesss happy for you guys 😊
Hope you find your dream land soon 🤗 🏵🌻🌼🌿🌾🌵🌴🪴🌲🍀🍂🐠🦆🐓🐦🐥🐇🐕🐈🐴
About that campground purchase options: maybe the owner would consider an owner-carry finance arrangement on a temporary basis; so it is drawn-up as a legal doc with you, the owner, and a property lawyer; and where the temporary part comes in that would appeal, most likely, to the owner is when you guys meet a local lender's requirements you transition the loan; and the owner gets paid your agreed sale price, minus, of coarse, what equity you have under the owner-carry payments; just a thought. . . :>/
Great content. Thanks for posting about the banking.
It's all about fraud prevention and anti money-laundering
i love how you guyz are so respectufull with others , thank you for respecting others wich is something that is disapearing nowadays unfortunately
Just being ourselves ❤️
Love your adventures 💜
I had friends who lived not far from a race track and the wind direction made a huge difference to the noise. On the bad days it was very annoying...such a high-pitched screamy-whiny noise which, if you love racing, you'd probably enjoy:) On the good days we forgot the track was there. Loved this video. Interesting, informative, and fun! Thank you for sharing your adventure.
Thanks for sharing! The wind was in our favor the day we were there visiting. It was only a very faint sound. I can only imagine on race days or when a lot of cars are zipping about.
Prayers are going your way in hopes y'all get the property of your dream ~ Good Luck guys !
🙏
Best of luck for your new adventure
Sending you two good vibes 💜 Its so exciting to see how things unfold when manifestations become realities 💜 Take Care 💜
Love that you share your plans with us.😘🌞
You should wait and look more for properties.
@@Mrandmrsadventure it's going great. Probably never going back home. Haha. You two keep up the inspiring work! Take care!
@@TheAdventureCloset That's great to hear! Enjoy your adventure! You too 👍
Lol at that candid outtake left in at 22:15 :)
🥰 keepin’ it real 😘
I think that roof over the bathroom needs a little more than insulation
Hahaha…yep
Muchas Gracias! 😍
@@Mrandmrsadventure Shouldn't that be Obrigado? Lol.
"Bons dias"! lol
So exitied for the two of you, you deserve amazing things. God bless to the both of you!!!!
20 minutes from the beach is good! You can replant. Lots of potential. But, keep looking. The journey is part of the adventure.
You know just how to make my day!
I love how vibrant colors are in this video.❤💯💢💛
Such a scenic view ,looks great.
Impressive upload.
You continue to impress me.
You make the small things count.🤩😂
You will know what property you want as soon as you see it…jump right on in…have fun.
I hope you get the property you want 😍
Red tape is everywhere but in the end, it is nice to get it over with. Best of luck for you both.
So true no matter where!
Love ya - and wish and pray for the all the best in this new adventure - anxious to see and hear which one you are in love with. til later - Love mla
Hmmmm, the hints you've been dropping about the watermill property makes me think that's the one you've chosen. Stay tuned?
Be prepared for one terrible thing in Portugal...the bureaucracy!!!
I would check to make sure it is not in area that experiences frequent droughts and that is teh reason that is experiences frequent fires ... like some area in California
That stone structure could be a barn.
I am originally from Brasil, and wonder if they will be so open to a Portuguese/ Italian in their country??? Congratulations.
my step-mom is an Italian Portuguese raised in Brasil!
@@Mrandmrsadventure Ola Mãe...
Wow so much to do and think about. But nearly there ish. Well done and looking forward to seeing which property. X
So much to think about. It's not just a home/property choice, it's a life, work and so much that comes with this decision. xx
@@Mrandmrsadventure absolutely, it has to work on all angles. We were in Portugal when the volcano Ash hit, we drove loads and visited loads, now I feel we need to see loads more. Take care x
That's sounds great! All your idea's with this property
Such great info! Thank you! 🤟🏼🎶💰
We didn’t get to see inside the Castle Property...your killing me😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Have you checked out the Azores before your final decision? I see the two of you there!!!
Congratulations on opening a Portuguese bank account!
Honestly, I see sooo much money being put into this place. Too much maybe😉
We feel the same.
