I played at an average NAIA school in the mid 2000's, and some of the stuff we put freshmen through was hilarious. I can't imagine what happens with all those alphas on the NFL level.
@@taylorxbrowning haha sure, great couch, traded away all the talent, tyrant coach, devalued his team just because of his ego. Got fired for it. Not surprised.
I think that JJ Watt said it best. Off the field, we are the nicest people you can ever meet, but when we hit the turf, we will be the baddest MFers on the field PERIOD. Coach Obrien gets hot on the field, but the way he treats his family is awesome!!! I got mad respect for him after watching this. Hard Knocks really hits HARD
Honestly, after the boring mess that was the 2012 Dolphins' coaching staff, I have to say I've fallen in love with this coaching staff in Houston. Bill O'Brien might be a really bad GM, but I'll be damned if I said I wouldn't want to play for him. The players really seem like and respect and he brings a lot of energy to that locker room. I also see why Vrabel has made it as a head coach. Same type of energy that brings the best out of you.
Exactly. I don't ever want Coach O'Brien to make my personnel decisions and handle the salary cap, but damn he can make a team compete and get people fired up.
Im so lucky I looked at your comment before I got to it I was eating and i was like ok "be ready" then I heard "Brain Cushings mouth" and was like its time
Dam JJ has a hell of an arm he was hitting fans in the 3 tier… I love how much pressure they put on the players and tell them they aren’t having any fun out there
You can see why Vrabel has been successful as a head coach. That energy you only see from a few head coaches. McVay, Pete Carrol, Andy Reid, Mike Tomlin. All different guys but they’re all very engaging that’s the difference maker. They know how to talk to their players and some guys - like a Mike McCarthy or a Hue Jackson - just can’t connect with dudes it isn’t natural for them. They’re all smart guys but getting their players to be down for the team is another level.
Gosh I totally forgot about this hard knocks year. These are all so darn nostalgic I always watch these in August to get ready for the upcoming season.
Watching this in 2021 is like watching a greek tragedy. In 2015 BoB looked like a brilliant and hard working coach with a talented staff, just a couple of pieces away from really putting it all together. Now in 2021, after BoB was given the GM position, after he got in his head that he knew better than his athletes, he's now without a job and has lost all his previously earned respect. From "I care about the humans" to trading away one of his stars because of a personal dispute and getting on the bad side of a notoriously easy to work with JJ Watt. Truly an amazing piece of history.
Anybody else find it ironic that the theme starts with a morning alarm and later that season Ryan Mallett missed his alarm and missed practice and the team flight before the Miami game??
The sequence showing the coaches family at home (the wife & kids, but in particular, his son with the daily seizures)... Powerful story... Humbling... U can see the eyes of The Christ in that kids eyes imo.
@America with all due respect I watched the GOAT play for 20 years. I know a bad quarterback when I see one and hoyer is terrible. Just because he was the better of a bunch of bad qb's for your team doesn't make him good
Still makes no sense they couldn't make him and clowney be like atleast zadarious and Preston smith as a elite combo for years and basically wasted a first overall pick if you think about it
O’Brien is a good dude, it sucks he gets sucked up into controversy over trading DHop. He was gonna hold out, and it’s just too much drama for a team to focus on.
When jj watt was throwing those balls I was like he should have been there quarterback back then
Man think of all the stuff that goes on in rookie shows that we’ll never know happened
Unless they johnathon Martin who plays next to 2 crazy dudes in miami
Imagine being a rookie and getting a crappy haircut just to get cut weeks later.
💀💀💀💀
I never even knew rookie shows were a thing. Now I do thanks to Hard Knocks.
If I had braids or dreads man ion care if I’m a rookie or not boy Dey is not cutting my hair Mann

Before 38:34 Never really cared for Coach Obrien
After 38:34 Man I love Coach Obrien 😢
Hector Rodriguez 🤣

Bill interacting with his kid is heartwarming. Great guy
What a handsome and happy young man. I hope he is still doing just as well today.

lmfaoooo literally
why was he vomitting lol
I still get goosebumps after JJ’s speech in the beginning. The “wooooo” at the end made it better 😂🔥
I got a whole new respect for Bill O'Brien. My condolences to his son
O’Brien seems like a really good father
I agree, he acts wholesome and loving. Especially with a child with a severe disability, hes a good dude I feel
would he trade his son for a 2nd round pick? lol jk
Not so much foul language around the kids
Yea....and I'm glad he's gone!

Thanks I never knew that 💀
That SC’s rick flair impression was unreal. Didn’t get the love it deserved
No like it didn’t at all
Gosh I totally forgot about this hard knocks year. These are all so darn nostalgic I always watch these in August to get ready for the upcoming season.
I could just watch JJ Watt practice everyday. He's on whole other level.
Gotta be tough to see your own child living with a disability like that. Nothing but respect to O'Brian for being such a good father
I like how open mined the head coach is, he doesn’t put anything past anyone and willing to give them a chance
I love this series thank you NFL Throwback!
Could you imagine having 2015 JJ Watt coming at you everyday in practice? Nightmare fuel...
Man I always thought Cushing was the next bill romanowski lol, I love both of these guys
That Ric Flair impression was phenomenal
He works with wwe now
I will say, that was the historically great Denver Defense that went on to win super bowl 50
Last episode messed up at the end hope this one works well..
You could say Brian Cushing left it on the field 😆 LOL
why did Brian vomit

Man that 2015 broncos defense was insanely good. Super Bowl champs. Crazy seeing them in preseason.
Is it weird that their strength coach sounds almost identical to the Nature Boy Ric Flair WOOOOOOOOOOO

For real and war eagle
Man I'd love to see my Bears get a coach like vrabel. Someone who's been there, and leads by examples, instead of the arena league QB we have now.
Awww god bless Bill an he’s son. It definitely says a lot bout bill on how he is with he’s Son Jack

In that same breath Vrabel is one of a kind.
THE TALENT SHOW IS ALWAYS THE BEST PART OF THESE SERIES!!!!!!! HA HA HA HA
I think thats excellent.
Hopefully they didn't take it to heart. It was only a top 5 defense in NFL history and the SB 50 champs they played against.
JJ Watt is a beast. Definitely HOF'er.
Hell ya
Him reggie white and bruce smith and deacon Jones best complete defensive ends ever who can play inside also
If not for the injuries he would go down as the greatest defender of all time
bill obrien broke the news to the qbs really well
We need the bucs hard knocks next

I didn't quite understand what the d-line coach was saying to JJ Watt when he was reviewing film....
Great dad. Jack looked happy too. FYI his brain malformation is literally translated to smooth brain

2020 Bill O'Brien: 'Hold my beer'

To think, the texas aren't gonna be as good as they were,in a long time, time to rebuild!!!
We came far
Yes we did but that defense was awesome is just the QB hoyer mallet 🤦🏽♂️
Incredible that we always needed a QB in those days imagine having that defense and depend on hoyer mallet it was horrible
Both quarterbacks can play. Yes Brian has more experience but mallett is just as good. He was really good in college.
But was it excellent?
