  • Hey Good People,
    Maintenance is Key 🔑 ! The number 1 thing you should focus on as a car owner is car maintenance. I see people neglect their regular maintenance way more than I should in 2023. In this video I show you just how dangerous skipping oil changes can be.
    I hope you enjoy the video, and be sure to leave your thoughts and opinions down in the comment section. I love hearing from you guys.
    Your favorite Mechanic,
    Alex

    You guys are my favorite mechanic channel. It's funny and wholesome and the support that you have for each other comes thru in the content. Regardless of the mechanical knowledge that you share it's the family atmosphere between yall that really makes watching a good experience.

    I had same 6.0 v8 2500 brand new in 2010 for a year when I worked construction. Beat the living snot out of it purposely and what a fabulous peace of machinery. Driven gently got 9.6 mpg or drop it in 1st gear and rev it to redline which got u to 40 mph gave 8.6mpg. Yea, I do miss the brushed aluminum analog gauges but don't miss the company who bought it...

    The saddest thing is that an oil change only takes about 10-15 minutes out of your day and some cars these days can go 10k before needing the change.

    6.0 with that 4L80 trans, I was Leary about the 799 heads only because the 706/842 flow better, but you did say all motor so I see what you doing that Chopacabra Stage 2 will have you sounding like a monster at the red light plus it will give a good
    Balance of low end torque to get moving then more speed than you need on the top end I can’t wait to see the build! And this is exactly why I asked were you getting into the performance game I like your attention to detail I’m currently building a tribute truck to my dad a bullnose F150 with a 302 and I have a bricknose with a 351, and I want to LS swap my ‘84 Delta 88 but my current build is a 2003 Suburban I’m about to lift it 6” and do my top end cam and lifters it’s a 4x4 and I’m making it my hunting rig no back seat so I can sleep in the back. Camming it with some long tube headers and a few more upgrades to get those big wheels turning down the highway and pull that big joker thru mud holes at the camp! Yolo have fun! When you open that performance shop I’m there all the way from Arkansas! Peace ✌🏾 Fam!!!

    my neighbor had two 90’s chevy trucks and an 80’s chevy. i asked him how often he changed the oil and he said he’d never changed it and put 70k on it. Cant imagine what it looked like. i asked why and he said he didn’t need to. he also replaced the engine on the other 2 while i lived in that house for a year. he was a trucker but i think he was just really stupid and refused to change it because maybe somebody he trusted told him he didn’t need to, or maybe it seemed like he was just in love with his trucks and thought they were bullet proof .

  • @Buc_Stops_Here
    @Buc_Stops_Here 10 місяців тому

    Is this even worth $1500? That van is so abused who knows what else is wrong with it? That transmission I can guarantee the fluid was never changed - you may have to replace that as well. It is so much cheaper to maintain your vehicle than to let it fall apart from abuse. Why I keep my cars until an engine or transmission failure - which is easily over 150,000 and usually over 200,000 miles with the original equipment. I did sell my 2006 Saab 9-3 with 195,000 because the wife wanted a new car - but it is still running with regular maintenance at 255,000 with the second owner and the original powertrain.

    • @AlexTheCarDoctor
      @AlexTheCarDoctor  10 місяців тому +1

      Those Saabs can last forever! But those vans are super expensive here in Atlanta. This same van in running condition goes for a both $8k down here. Which is why I chose to buy it broken. I have a spare transmission for it if it is out.
