Kevin I’ve been listening to you for 3 years now. My life has made a complete 180 because of you. I stopped reciting my mantra “I’m happily single.” I started dating KS style and I’ll be getting married 11/11 of this year. Kevin you’re invited to the wedding. Thank you for being the big brother I never had.

Candy, as a man, it's very refreshing to hear a woman who's able to receive, process and adjust. This doesn't make you less than. Unfortunately a lot of woman think this is a weakness, it is not, it actually makes you very attractive in the eyes of men.

@Sheri280 Your take is spot on! My daughters mother couldn't teach them how to be a wife because I didn't marry her, and she never got married. I swear that she's wasted the last 25 years to see if I get married to decide if she should!
I wanted to be married to their mother, but I realized that she was in love with the thought of me and not me as a person! As a man... I've tried to teach my girls now 25 and 18 how to do these things! I've tried to get them to understand that it's not about cooking and cleaning!
I have tried to get them to understand how to be a woman in a man's life or whomever they choose to be with! I haven't talked about their mom, but ask them the rhetorical question of what they see day to day!

I think the young lady didn't want to ask her Mom because deep down inside she knows her Mom is not capable of teaching her HOW to be a wife. She doesnt want to have that conversation because then she would have to admit that her Mom dropped the ball and she may not be ready to face that reality. I was not raised to be a wife. I learned from watching my single mother what NOT to do. I taught myself.
I’ve been married 20 years strong. I learned not to run my man over, not to cause strife, to reverence him, to be his peace, support and safe haven, etc. Men want respect above all things. Love is secondary. My mother raised us to be good, self-sufficient people, but she did not raise my sister and me to be wives. My sister isn’t a wife. She’s a mother of 5 with 4 BDs. I knew early I wanted to be married, so I did ALL of the things my mother didn’t do and I have a wonderful husband of 20 years and we have a wonderful, complete marriage with two beautiful sons.
And when I tell these younger girls or old bitter ones what to do I’m a pick-me, old-fashioned or out of touch. Thank you for doing this, Kevin.

It's not just her retirement or about the couples retirement. If women are not getting married. Something else happens. Ever heard the term "when you marry, you marry the whole family". Well you don't marry you marry the resources of the family, as you drain their resources as she ages, the family has a higher risk of entering poverty. It's ripple effect for generations.
Men can take care of themselves, they can even travel and bring a wife to America. My people been doing all their time in america. But masculine, nasty attitude women who internalized feminism and modern toxics natured mindset can not. Because no man from another country would accept an aggressive women who out man's and challenges him. They want peace not a male roommate. American men also waking up, traveling outside the usa to find wife's because they see the low quality that's on offer here in America. This does not end well for this nation if families are not created and maintained.

We built a family. And then he left for a woman, a friend of mine who went thru a bad divorce & commented how “lucky I was to have such a wonderful husband”. So that was that… I’m gr 2 wonderful sons we raised well. And I remarried. My mother was never a wife to my father. So I learned how to be a wife, by doing what my mother didn’t do. I greet my husband when he arrives home from work, and show him we are happy to see him. I wasn't raised to be a wife by my mother figure, however, I was shown the way by my Grandmother, my Step-Mother and my Mother in Law. I married my husband at age 19, and we have been married 24 years (as of last October) . One of the biggest lessons I had to learn in being a good wife, was to make sure my husband had unwinding time when he gets home from work. I have food ready, clean clothes and a shower ready and waiting. I make sure he has at least an hour of decompression time to shower, eat and breathe when he gets home. Trust, this has made it better for EVERYONE. It allows him time to switch from work mode to home mode, and it prevents unnecessary and unwarranted arguments and frustration. He is happy to come home, and we get to have the relaxed Dad in the evenings.

To me it’s cheaper to be single 🤷🏾‍♀️

OMG! Kevin hit the nail on the head here. When I get into deep conversation with my wife, I've wondered did her mother teach her how to be a WIFE. My wife has a bad issue of using the word (I) all the time. I told her, the minute we were married I is no longer available. Once you are married, the word is "WE"! So Kevin has hit one of the main issues of the break down of relationships in our community.

@@wudacudashuda_ I find it fascinating that most men & women are not "raised" to be husbands/wifes. For my vantage point, it appears to be an art of observation, more than anything else. You really don't see parents, married or divorce, having marriage 101 sessions with their children. Even in the single-parent environment (in which I was raised), where will the parent find the time or energy to discuss something she's not involved in?

I have the same story. I taught myself. I learned what not to do by watching my mother’s failed relationships. She accepted abuse, was weak, made excuses and lived and continues to live life in survival mode in her 60’s now. I set my standards young, didn’t allow a man to live off of me like the lady in this video and knew the difference between a man and a man-child. I knew to get serious with my future by the age of 25. Married at age 32 and my husband and I have been married 12 years, together 17 years. Yes, respect is #1 to a man, a husband. To be a wife, you must be willing to play your role. Doesn’t have to be traditional, it has to work for your relationship. If anyone in their early 20’s is reading the many experiences shared here, I pray you “get it” and realize life is not all fun and games. Don’t wait too late to get serious about what you want whether it be to be married or to land the career of your dreams. Life is short, don’t let it pass you by being on autopilot. Never make the excuse that “you can’t help who you fall in love with”. If your standards are set prior to vetting a man for a relationship, you will filter out the ones that don’t meet those standards, thus dodging the potential for wasted years of your life on autopilot accepting a man that’s not on your level. Practice emotional intelligence. Surround yourself with mature women/seek their wisdom and advice. I got some of my best advice from divorced women. Life is chess so don’t get caught up playing checkers with emotionally and mentally stunted individuals running around a hamster wheel. I could go on but I’ve already written a short book here! Be blessed!

@@elainemister8479 With all due respect, I understand your perspective, I really do. When I use the word weak, I’m speaking from observation and facts, not emotion here. My thought process is that your response comes from an emotional place. A place of what respect and disrespect reign true to your heart as a mother. I love my mother and accepted long ago that she can’t help to be who she is due to her parental pathology. But to negate what I observed, ingested, endured as a person (not just her daughter) to simply respect her by not stating the fact that she displayed weakness, negates my experiences as her daughter. It brings me back to the mantra that kids should be seen and not heard, like kids don’t have a developing sense of self and nothing to contribute by their presence. You are right when you say I am who I am because of her. I picked up some of her traits in raising my own son and he and I have a strained relationship because of it. He asked me to see him as a person outside of just being my son. I had to listen objectively rather than emotionally to really hear him. What I meant by calling my mother weak goes so much deeper than the surface of seeing that word (weak) and coining it as a way to talk down or disrespect her. Patterns and pathologies in families have to be called out in order to correct them and not continue to pass them down. I am better for the knowledge I gained from my son calling me out on certain things. I don’t feel it’s disrespect. Not stating you don’t, but one must have an open mind and heart to hear with logic and not emotion in order to “get it” sometimes. To step past the shock of the word and really want to know and understand “the why” and the reasoning that word is FACT to them and their experiences with that person. We are all trying to figure it out in life and I don’t take that away from my mother. I just acknowledge that her ways of presenting in the world have affected me in a way to guide me to not make her same mistakes. I’m not going to tell all her business but let’s just say she didn’t raise me to adulthood and I, in fact helped to raise her children FOR her as a result of her poor choices in life. I still love her, look out for her and celebrate her as a daughter should and never throw things in her face. I acknowledge that I wouldn’t be here if not for her womb. But I, as a human outside of being her daughter, have a right to express my logic, truth and experiences as it relates to her being responsible for my childhood. I hope this helps you understand where I’m coming from. Happy Mother’s Day to you Ms. Elaine.
