There is so much value to be had with miles and points but one of the most intimidating things can be actually knowing how to get started.
As you’ll see in the video, my five tips for getting started are as follows:
1. Decide on your travel goals and what kind of miles you should earn.
2. Sign up for frequent flyer account and hotel programs.
3. Use airline & hotel program shopping portals and dining portals.
4. If you really want to supercharge the points you’re earning pick a credit card that works for you.
5. Don’t over-diversify your points.
1. Decide on your travel goals and what kind of miles you should earn.
Are you hoping to redeem your miles for a simple domestic ticket in economy for your family? Or is your goal to fly international first-class to somewhere exotic?
2. Sign up for frequent flyer account and hotel programs.
Once you decide which airline you're going to fly most or which program makes the most sense for you, sign up for that program. Example this could be American Advantage if you fly American Airlines or Delta SkyMiles if you fly Delta.
3. Use airline & hotel program shopping portals and dining portals.
These aren't available in all countries but they are available in many including the US. The way this works is that if you go through an airline shopping portal you'll earn bonus miles for purchases you make with that retailer. All types of brands s offer bonus miles when you make those purchases online. All you have to do is through the airline shopping portal.
Sign up for links to Shopping and Dining Portals:

4. If you really want to supercharge the points you're earning pick a credit card that works for you.
Credit card companies are competing so fiercely for your business in 2 ways. One is they are offering huge welcome bonuses just for applying for a card and completing some amount of minimum spend. Some of these can be up to 100,000 points.
5. Don’t over-diversify your points.
You want to collect points currencies that can be transferred ideally to different airlines like a transferable points currency but try not to get points all at once in too many programs.

Ben good start! maybe next vid, focus on chase trifecta, amex tri, and hotels! start with chase as it seems to be #1 atm
I like the way this guy talks. Very clearly and concisely.... easy subscribe from me
You make a whole lot of sense in everything you said in an equally attractive way.
Good video. It’s important to have a goal in sight and stay disciplined. Rack up those miles.
Great intro! Currently investigating earning miles in China. In Dubai it was also pretty easy. Flew First on Etihad, Qatar and Singapore and business on Emirates, Oman, Philippine Airlines, Air Asia, Malaysian, Qatar and Etihad after just one year of miles and cheap deals.
@Nevis LazajNo luck, getting a credit card is very hard as a foreigner and no great point bonus. If you have credit cards with signup bonus back home it's better to get those.
Baby steps...I signed up Delta Sky Miles, AARP and IHG Holiday Inn memberships...
How is it going so far?
What miles card would you recommend for someone who doesn't have the best credit score or medium Credit 620 or higher ?
wait so to earn 3x points on travel for your chase sapphire you need to book your trips through the chase website? or they just know from the bank statement you spent it with an airline or hotel? and then when you spend those points do you need to use the chase ultimate rewards website or could you just redeem for cash? is the payout the same?
Let's reflect on how the duration of this video is 7 minutes and 47 seconds. 747
Yes
So whats the best card for travel for just me overseas like I want to plan a trip to veitnam
is this only one way to save your almost expiring miles is shopping
I thoght to book hotel will be another way Or perhaps open credit card ??
I have been traveling all my life and I never used any points or miles. there is any way to get these flight history or something and get points for it?
Thank you for the video, In what part of my account can add my miles or points from a flight? thank you in advance
Would you prefer getting to have your points, miles, or hotel rewards converted to cash or crypto for a much more dollar value?? If so ask me how
Is there any benefit to having more than one frequent flyer within the same airline alliance?
Nope.
HI! Thanks for all your advices...I'm new to this so I was wondering...If I am a frequent flyer of about 10 airlines, and some of them happen to be part of the same airlines alliance...Is it possible to put together all the miles accumulated in each airline and change/redeem them for a flight ticket through the airline alliance website??? I know this question could look like silly to you but I'm just starting to play this "miles" game...and I'd really apreciate you telling me if this is duable or not... Thanks and all the best!
If you've already credited the miles to a certain program, then for the most part they are likely "stuck" in that program. But going forward you can choose a single program within an alliance to credit your miles to.
@@onemileatatime I did not understand answer I have Amer airline miles and Fin-airline miles and Delta
I have problem because my Amer airline expiring for 1140 miles these days and I only can transfer to my husband account and I have to pay 15 $ for i
.Does it worth??
You could maybe transfer miles to Amex and then transfer them again to one of the alliances miles. So transfer the delta and Flying Blue miles say to Amex and then transfer them from there to Flying Blue. Hope it helps!
Would you prefer getting to have your points, miles, or hotel rewards converted to cash or crypto for a much more dollar value?? If so ask me how
When I checked in with my miles number at the end of my trip I never got the miles…. Any suggestions?
how do you group miles from diferente airlines in one????
Hi there great video! I plan on using your affiliate links to support you but can't decide which card to start with for my situation: The Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Gold Delta SkyMiles?
I am planning on traveling full time next year with my remote job and any insight would be much appreciated, thanks for all you do!
In most cases the CSP is going to be the better beginner card, as you're not locked in to a single program. You'll also earn points more quickly!
@@onemileatatime Awesome thanks for the reply!
I would make my family sign up but they are more road trip people they never go out of state or they only go to Oregon
I’m flying my wife to Europe business class solely on points after only 3 years collecting points, so it’s very possible.
so the only way to collect points or miles is throught flying ???
depends on the airline.... if you are like me, a loyal LH miles & more member, most US credit cards and hotels do not partner with LH..... so hard to collect miles this way if LH is what you want to fly
Would you prefer getting to have your points, miles, or hotel rewards converted to cash or crypto for a much more dollar value?? If so ask me how
What are the best transferable currency companies? Each airline I go to are singular.

Those people that dislikes this video is also your subscriber and your fan too....😂
If some air transport company participate in system and also has its own freq flying program, is it possible or good to claim miles on global FFM (freq fly miles) and also on local FFM system of the company for the same trip?
Would you prefer getting to have your points, miles, or hotel rewards converted to cash or crypto for a much more dollar value?? If so ask me how
I have 50k qmiles.. whats the best way to use it..?
Would you prefer getting to have your points, miles, or hotel rewards converted to cash or crypto for a much more dollar value?? If so ask me how
so i really like this new videos-so i know you did a blog post best way to get to Europe and you failed to mention the 68k roundtrip business class on iberia which transfers directly from ur also so many bloggers underplay the 75k roundtrip in biz to tokyo to ana or the 104 roundtrip on ethic to abu dubai so i know you have been playing this game a long time so i aak why do so many bloggers not show these amazing sweet spots and telling people to use 220k roundtrip miles for lh first when its a huge waste
Those are all great deals (though ANA miles can't currently be used on Etihad), and Tiffany did mention the Iberia award you're referencing in her recent post.
I might do a video on sweet spots at some point -- I feel like we do frequent posts on them, but the reality is that they aren't all practical as general miles and points advice.
i really do appreciate how you talk to your readers this is a reason i have left other blogs like TPG
Very American focused.
Didn't get the answer
I slow down hi speech it is easy follow not too fast
Typo in the video screen shot!
Good eyes, thanks!
I have very little credit card debt and a credit score in the high 700s. I'm fine with that, thank you. Oh, and I hate traveling, airplanes, and hotels, so obviously I don't give a damn about miles. The closest I get to O'Hare or Midway is if I'm picking up or dropping off.
Would you prefer getting to have your points, miles, or hotel rewards converted to cash or crypto for a much more dollar value?? If so ask me how
So why did you waste your time watching this video?
@@susanwhite7474 Good point. Well it was 10 months the ago so I haven't any idea. Guess I was just surfing.
Ein Video auf Deutsch ist das möglich, bitte?
Frequent flier miles are not worth the trouble. Costs 80,000 points to go from NYC to Paris and back, as in you have to fly 80,000 miles to get that many first..... prntscr.com/qgb8lq Only thing worth having is the travel credit card.
Air miles are imoral
Why would that be?

Miles and more points disappear at end of the year, especially when you are about to become a frequent traveler. Guys please check out before falling for this bad and manipulative program! Do your research.
get to the point
