Thanks for watchin' :o You can join our Discord server here: discord.gg/PD9rf6a PS: The weird glitches some of you may have seen over the course of the video were caused by Sony Vegas deciding to freak out on me. Which no matter how many times I re-rendered the video, did not go away. RIP if you have epilepsy D:
Even me, as a senior developer and probably because I only work with Web development, find stuff like this interesting. I'm a 27 year veteran of web design. There are so many careers in software development and good money to make, but it's nice to have epiphanies brought on by seeing the algorithms used by yourself, with your interesting mannerism and calm demeanour. Well done Fergus! Good man! Please keep up the good work! I would also like to see some basic math lessons - for calculating gradients, sin and cosine, etc.? You make a good teacher.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment Chris :) I really appreciate it! As for the maths teaching stuff, that would be cool to look into, although I haven't had the time to finish the coding peggle tutorial series I already started a little while back. So probably best not to start another before I wrap that one up 😅
I'm working on a Worms-like game for the Playdate and I've been struggling with having to code the collision system, but thanks to your video, I managed it! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and process!
Is it by chance the middle of the pixel? I know you have a Y coordinate but no X coordinate... to me this would be a big no-no since we have no accuracy and are just mindlessly hoping the Y co-ordinate that it lands on is somehow in the right region... of course, since I have no games programming experience you could be using some smart algorithm for the program to figure out: yeah, it's that x right there, jolly good. But since I can't see the rest of your code I have no idea if your code actually can work this out or not.
I want to have a game like this made for me on steam. How much would it cost to hire you to make a game like this with my character as one of the characters. As well as my friend lord killian (space skeleton looking guy). I dont have the money now but this may be something id want made for me in the future if the price is right.
I got shivers when I heard Zack's sweet goblin voice =)) really awesome video dude, I would give you some reddit gold if i had any left but yeah, them goblins
The hidden circular freeze entity is such a fantastic idea.
