Caleb, thank you, thank you, thank you. I needed this video decades ago. Great detailed education on how to clean a Remington 870. Again, thank you for ALL you share with your followers.
Funny...My son, grandson, and I just took out the shotguns yesterday to bust some clays. One of those was my treasured 870 Wingmaster manufactured in March of 1979. I have lovingly cared for that gun for all these years and it is still in dang near NIB condition. It came with a 28 in full choke. No choke tubes then. We all remarked after shooting that gun yesterday how it made missing a target almost hard to do. I have replaced the follower with an aluminum one and also replaced the extractor as a preemptive measure against failure. With all the recent turmoil and changes in the Remington world, my "real" 870 Wingmaster has become priceless in my collection. Thank you for the ...soothing video.
The sound of racking a Remington 870 is just iconic. Its the defualt sound everybody thinks of when they think about racking a pump shotgun. Some shotguns sound similar but just not quite the same. I don't know, I guess maybe it's the types of metal used to make the shotgun that gives its distinct sound.
So I usually prefer mossbergs, but I got a tac14 and shockwave at almost the same time, for science. There are some things that I'm now seeing that I think I like better on the remington when it comes to disassembly. Those interruptor arms that don't fall out are one of them 😆
Excellent video. My only comment is my procedure for cleaning any firearm is after field stripping/disassembly is to run a fairly wet patch (w/ Hoppe’s) through the barrel. That way it can get to work while I further work on the rest of the gun.
I just bought my first shotgun , the mossberg 500 scorpion , can you please do a video on it and provide all the information about it that you guys can , and also how to keep it running like new and any parts I might have to replace in the future , will surely appreciate , you guys are the best 😊😊
Very helpful, I would like to see a whole series of proper cleaning on assorted weapons. Thanks! What are your opinions on bore snakes for cleaning barrels?
Thanks, years ago a game warden was messing with me as I was leaving a snipe pond, made me take my gun out of my truck, inspected it ,leaned it against my truck, walked me around to the driver's side and told me good day. Flustered I backed up and ran over my gun, he thought it was hilarious. I've been afraid to take it apart, now maybe I'll try.
my old 870 does not have the magazine spring retainer it is just held in with the magazine tube cap nut ? do you need it or did the old 870 not use this ?never had any issues with it ?thanks
I had my hammer get stuck one time on an 870 that was very rarely shot - it caused a dead trigger and I wasn't sure what happened but after taking the trigger group out I found it was stuck down after being cocked due to rust/dry metal so I try to lube that area up quite a bit especially on shotguns that may not get used all that often.
I can appreciate folks going above and beyond to take care of their firearms but in reality a lot of this extra work is not needed. I’ve been using ballistol on all my firearms going on 6 years now and not one of them has rust, always performed flawlessly and always stood clean even with they was stored for long periods of time. I’m sure it’s also not required but as for my going the extra mile mark, I always give them a quick clean after every use rather than letting the gun power and carbon rest on the gun for days, weeks or even months. A simple spray and wipe down on the frame and inside the barrel will do just fine But if a full teardown and deep cleaning is your thing, then have at it as long as you enjoy doing the maintenance!
Wow, Brownells stocks air duster in reach of employees for ease of accessment? I worked at an auto shop that kept brake cleaner cans in the parts dept and we had to specifically ask for each can.
Brownells dropping an absolute HEATER on a random Wednesday morning

My first gun was an 870 Marine Magnum, and I absolutely love it. You guys make fantastic videos

Thank you for this video. The 870 was my 1st given to me by my grandpa.

This was one of the best videos yet. Super helpful. I cut myself so many times doing this so I don’t feel so alone now.
Great video! Love these longer videos with more detail. Love to see more like this. Thanks!
👍👍Thanks, My 870 is a 20ga. This is really helpful.

I love the AT4 in the safe
I have the perfect padded channel lock pliers at work lol, they're for cannon plug electrical connectors on aircraft
Best first gun. Especially the 90's models.
That's for a great video on cleaning a Remington Classic.

Is it wrong to want a picture of Steve on top of the safe? Hahahaha........Keep on truckin Caleb 🚛
Solid content. Very helpful.
Perfect video, very detailed. Thank you.
Great video Caleb..... I have the 12ga and I always have issues on taking out and putting in the action and bolt....... what a pain..

Glad to be a benelli fan boy. I can get my novas taken apart fully in 10seconds with 0 tools.

My Grandpas old 870 wingmaster had a stamped sheet metal one. I don't think it's necessary, but it makes disassembly a little easier.
i dont even have an 870... but i'll watch this..
Same 😂
Fine. Fine piece of engineering.. one of them, feels good in the hand, kind of guns.
The AT4 in the safe goes hard...

2:01 Don't go burn' bridges Caleb!😉
Thank you
Do you have any videos on basic maintenance for the Remington 1100?
Wait, the 870 needs maintenance? Mines still working after nearly 30 years of abuse so I don’t know that I believe you lol

I use a 'Burris' cup / glass coaster and put it on top of my coffee cup. Could keep flying insects, etc. out also.
Ballistol Lube & Frog Lube are safe & effective Lubes.
For a video that's over an hour, was the background music necessary?
Links to all of the tools would have helped us get more so l tools for our collection.
Unfortunately we are unable to link on UA-cam per their guidelines.
At 22:10, I thought we were taking a turn from gun cleaning…🤣
