Fran seems in a better mood lately, and when he is in a good mood he shares more of his thoughts and knowledge, it benefits us, the viewers.
On a side note, what an amazing platform the C6 corvette is. It is a beautiful design that is affordable, and very easy to modify for great power gains. It will probably go down as one of the very best car enthusiast platforms we ever see. It is a performance bargain, and the chevrolet engineers in charge of the C6 did an amazing job. Props to them.
From what I’ve learned with running the kong 2650 on my SBE ZR1 with 2 different cams and 4 different pulleys is that they become very inefficient with boost levels above 23+psi.
The 2650 starts hitting a brick wall the iat2 temperatures start rapidly raising due to not being able to get the air out which will drive boost psi up.
The sweet spot for the 2650 is right around 18 to 22.5psi of boost. Seems like a lot of the Strokers 400+cid make incredible power above 1100+ rwhp around 18psi to 20 psi with 10:1 to 10:5 compression ratio on E85.
I’ve also learned the factory ZR1 mufflers are restrictive at these power levels with them removed you can drop 1 pound of boost.
On E70 fuel with my old cam (228-242 .604" lift/.622" lift 117lsa ) and running a 2.40 upper with 14% lower made 1027/1001 rwhp/rwtq SAE making 25.4 psi of boost. Also note the power would start rapidly nosediving after 6500 rpms.
We went to a 2.625 upper pulley and made more power 1041 rwhp / 941rwtq by removing the factory mufflers and dropping the boost to 22psi. The Power also carried all the way to 7200 rpms.
We then did a cam swap to a much larger Camshaft GPT stage 4 and made 1063 rwhp / 947 rwtq SAE with the 2.625 making 21 psi of boost with the ZR1 mufflers connected.
Next we tested a custom 2.50 upper pulley and made 1071/976 making 22psi of boost. Then tested it with a 2.40 upper making 23+ psi of boost and the power did not carry the same as the other two pulleys. it started falling on its nose after 6800 RPMs versus with the other two pulleys power would carry strong to 7300 rpm's.
Final numbers with the 2.40 were 1069 rwhp / 995 rwtq SAE.
To take advantage of the 2.40 would need to run a bigger cam to slightly drop the boost. we could’ve dropped the mufflers as well but decided not to since the car is driven with them on and our last test proved that dropping them does drop 1 pound of boost. I guess ideally you could install cut outs but really not a lot of room underneath to do so on the C6.

I'm not taking sides, I'm a casual watcher and don't know any of these guys personally. To the casual watcher like myself, the vibe on this video is significantly better and more fun to watch than many of the old episodes. When you produce cars this cool, you should be having fun!

How that map sensor hold over 23psi on c6 Zr1. Cuz mine won’t
Question , when yal install a Kong air filter or even k&n carbon air filter on c6 ZR1 do yal cut out the hood vent honeycomb looking thing or air dam so more air will suck in from filter ? Cuz on my zr1 it looked pretty closed up

You guys build some bad cars! Love the work! Why do we not have any e85 at any gas stations here in Delaware? Just curious if anyone knows.
Delaware passed some law that states gas can’t contain more than 10% ethanol. I guess they forgot to exclude E85

I h ave an 07 Z06....H/C/I....570 wheel....Car has 60 lb injectors 11.5 compression and a walbro 450 fuel pump ...Bought the car this way.....Would it be beneficial to add E-85 ? I figure I have most of the parts .....Would need of course a flex fuel sensor because I can't run E85 all The time.....
E85 doesn’t do much on NA vehicles

Frans attitude is completely different now that Steve is not trying to talk for him!!!!! The guys in the shop are warning up to the new camera guy and things are getting better. Let’s see more dyno pulls and less chatting about nothing. Put the dyno numbers up on the screen, that zoom in on that white background is hard to make out without stopping the video and zooming in on it.

I called up there to get a quote on truck project guy told me y’all wrk on cars 16’ and newer so why I see shop full of c6s I feel it’s a bunch of bullshitt honestly
