Just using the grinder is delightful, you push a button, pour coffee in, and flick the knocker. 3 steps to go from whole bean to moving onto the next part of your life. From a basic maintenance perspective, when you feel like IT IS time to clean the grinder, no tools are required to access the grind chamber, just twist the top cap. Maybe 0.1g -0.2g of retention once you get to the grind chamber, there is almost nothing to clean lol. Upon reassembly, burr touch is right where you left it. This thoughtfulness that went into the design of this grinder, should be a standard.
Hey Patrik SSP 98mm comes with quite different design, the HU that the p100 comes stock with. SSP however also has a Low, Ultra Low, Cast that somewhat resembles the pre 2015 Ek coffee burrs and their latest Brew burrs. The Brew burrs, Low and Ultra Low can’t pull traditional shots but these can do the longer 1:3 turbo shots that you just did and I think these do it better then the HU and the brews is definitely better. I wasn’t all that happy with HU burrs for brewed when originally had those burrs.
Don’t season your burrs with the coffee you drink!! I seasoned mine with 5lbs (free!) quackers from my favorite roaster. Reach out to yours and they might give you some
Have bought and used all the end game grinders both conical and flat and the P100 is the one that stays on my counter. There is a lot less clumping and less retention in the magnetic chute if you use RDT as recommended.
SSP sells 98mm SSP Brew burrs and 98mm SSP Pre2015 Cast (EK style) burrs. Hansung recommended these two burrs to me for filter usage. You could try those when testing for filter coffee.
1:3 ratio in 20 seconds--is this total time or pour time? If total time, what is your preinfusion duration? Great video! Thanks so much for putting it together and sharing your thoughts.
98mm SSP brew burrs. Option O sells them with the p100 for additional $50. this is what i have in p100. BUT these are defilitely SSP style filter. very very clear coffee. may not be for you if you dont like SSP style filter. i am brewing 505um (6.75 marks) past burr chirp on p100 with SSP brew. 15g : 235g, Origami, :45 bloom 2:45-3:15 tbt, soft water, 95c+. very tasty!
Different RPM, most likely different dynamic alignment under load, pre-crushing by the auger for some of the beans. This all makes a big difference. Personally I think it depends on the burrset whether or not the differences are desirable

I've had my P100 for about six weeks, so still seasoning the burrs, but the results and workflow are top notch so far.

This is a perfect grinder. So happy I own one and only had to wait 1 month to get it.

Looks like the burr gap is 15 ticks @ 7.5 micron per tick or 112.5um
Also, what is the particle size analyzer you're using at April?
Lightells
ID on the vest?
If you put these burrs into the EK, I guess you will get more or less same results.
Sure but this has variable rpm and a much better workflow
well the P100 is not much more expensive but delivers a much, much better single dosing workflow.
The advantage here is that this will run those burrs at lower RPM the EK will always run at 1400 rpm and it makes a difference

Talking way too much, show too little.
Thank you for taking the time to watch.
