I second the commenter that spoke about trying to keep marks 2 and 3 together during calibration. I ended up with my chirp point being about 0.1, but I didn't care at that point, it was close enough and now my safety stop is just at 0.1. I combined a burr swap (Mizen Omni -> SSP MP v2) and the burr swap was fairly straightforward with only some minor hitches.

I had been debating between a Key Mkii and the P64 and details like this are what tipped the scales in favor of the P64 for me. Beautifully engineered and great to see where Option-O took feedback from the earlier versions and updated the calibration so it can always show zero at burr touch!

The engineering of this looks so good. I love how the adjustment of the zero point and safety lock was implemented on this new version. All that without changing the overall appearance and the haptics. 👍

Any chance of a retrofit for older 2021 versions

Seems a little complicated but not something you gotta do everyday. NIce to have the feature if you want. On my older p64 my burr touch point is like 8.6 or something randomly high. Same deal with the Df64s usually when you install ssp burrs the touch point goes from around 0 to 25 you just gotta remember not to go past that. But it's not hard if you're grinding for espresso a whole 10 steps up at 9.5 (on p64) or 35ish on DF64.
The locking feature would help prevent newbs from going too far accidentally I guess.

As a newbie, I took it right out of the box and I was chirping around 2. I recalibrated it in 10min, pretty easy to follow. Now I'm chirping right at zero with the safety lock in place. Ready to grind!

The part where you have to tighten the 4 screws towards the end while keeping all the dots aligned is pure torture. lol. Took forever and my 0 is still off by like 1 notch. :(

I guess because of the burr wear & tear? Mine zero point also went coarser to 0.01.

Does the not consistent sound when the burrs touch mean the alignment is off? And by alignment I mean the alignment of the burrs to one another, not the alignment to 0.

So this thing should last forever and always be able to be calibrated, esp as burrs wear and you use a new burr.. End of Life grinder.

Can someone explain what the 2 dots being marked at 1:53 lines up with?

For P100, is this the same process to set the zero calibration? if not, can you post one how-to video? Thanks.

Too complicated. Should be done by the factory

They're meant to be calibrated when you buy them brand new already if that's what you're referring to. I believe the video is more for those that want to recalibrate

It looked like she didn't marked the bottom with the top dot perfectly aligned. A simple Caliper ruler would have been useful for perfect alignment with the top to bottom dot.
