Love it!! Next time when using welder to charge 12V batteries, set it to 14.7 Volts. This is about aggressive as is you can be and still be safe for the battery. 13.8V is the "slow charge" voltage. That said, I would have been tempted to push it further ;-)
Correct but got to be very careful with electronic systems. Life was so much simpler without all these electronics. Oh yes I had 2 D-8 cat batteries blow up on myself & a young rookie miner. Lincoln pipeliner D-11 need started over why operator couldn’t start it even between shift’s is a huge mystery today. I was watching other dozer crazy operator in equipment yard running wide open within inches of us. I turn look at that rookie only to yell NO!! He hook ground to the ground on batteries Boom!! Of course that straight DC welder crank right up and covered myself & him with battery acid. It blow up in that poor boys face. Hospital he went. Thank God he didn’t loose his eyes. I had brand new $125+ insulated coveralls on . Mine foreman wanted go hospital with poor boy. I had completely inspected the job site & sign off on Mine foreman books. When he got back that acid after I bet over 100 gallons water it still eat all my clothes off my body even my underwear. I was wearing rags tied together. I was so naked I couldn’t on my way home to stop at a store to get a cold beer to calm my nerves down. True story I just glad that boy didn’t loose his eye site. 1 thing I sure was hot over them 2 dozer operators. Specially Mr Wide Open. The main guy jump him too & told myself to fire him on the spot right in front that guy he ever pull a stupid stunt like that again. Thank God it wasn’t any worse than it was accident wise. That equipment operator stayed far away as he could from myself after that stupid stunt. True story after 37 years of mining experience I got a lot true stories a lot very sad & lost many very close friends very sadly. Having stop on my way home to break news to a wife & she had to break news to her 3 little kids that Daddy not coming home & I stop bring his belongings back home is not a pleasant experience at all. Boy drove his pick up Tk home jump in my Tk too chicken go to the door. We was great friends she wanted me bring her late husband belongings home to her at end of our shift.
Extremely expensive truck. Cannot believe it was just abandoned. I would definitely restore it. This was definitely a special order truck and probably around $600,000.00
Abandoned is the most over used and misused word on U-tube. Just try to move it home and the owner, surrounded by deputies will be asking "just where do you thieves think you are going with my yruck?"
I drove this exact truck for about a year at the mine. Was one of my favorite lube trucks. Sad to see it like this! They get used pretty hard out there.
I ran Western Star 4900XDs and a 6900XD doing the same thing. The 6900XD was an incredible truck, the weakness was the VMAC air compressor. We outright couldn't get compressor oil for the thing much less parts because of how screwed-up the company's supply system was. The truck chassis are great, we ran the hell out of those things.
The c500's are definitely my favorite rigs because how unique and versatile they are. One of my dreams is to find an old one and restore it to her former glory
That is a Chalmers 100,000# suspension. Chalmers makes suspensions from 40,000# to 130,000#. These suspensions are available from the factory at all the truck manufacturers.
I'd like to see you fix it up. My first truck driving job was in 1979 when I was 18, and I drove a brand new C500 dump truck that my moms cousin bought for his gravel company. It was a great truck. Ironically I was just talking to someone else about the truck a couple hours ago. That's a little creepy... Unfortunately the one I drove didn't have a CAT. It had an 8V-98TT Detroit with a 13 speed. It didn't have the steel hood either, it had a fiberglass hood but it did have the squared off fenders. It wasn't quite as heavy duty as this one. It didn't have planetary differentials either but it did had a smaller version of the Hendrickson suspension with rubber blocks.
Can’t wait to see the next episode, I think it might be a problem putting air in the front tyre probably better off changing it for one of the parts truck 👍🏻🏴
Super cool truck, would love to see it restored and functional again as a lube truck, or if all the pumps and tanks are gone, convert it into a mobile work truck with welding and cranes
Some transit buses have had those hub reduction rear axles for decades. Mercedes and MAN were using them from the early 1970s to enable a shorter rear overhang. American transit buses started using those same German sourced HR axles from the 2000s.
I seen & looked at that Tk before. That was a very nice setup back in the day. For some reason I am thinking that was off an Arch Coal job site but I could be wrong too.
Called a Chalmers type walking beam axle. I worked on cement mixer trucks most my career which have those due to extreme weight and uneven surfaces those trucks encounter.
I think I’d rather have the Hendrickson solid suspension on a setup like that, it really wouldn’t ride any worse on those FEL tires anyway and you have a lot less to worry about, pretty much the only thing that can fail on those that results in a rollover is if a walking beam breaks and that is really rare to happen.
You to jump start that Truck don't use the welder as you will blow the welder up.. Simply put fully charged battery's on and use the other Truck with the jump leads on that. Starting it the way you have is not the right way to do it. But for the rest of is then going to be a fun project. Good luck
Really flat batteries will sometimes not take a charge well to start with, but may come back to life and the charging current rises, I would expect these batteries to take far more current when charging. As others have said 14 volts is a more normal charging voltage.
The axles are not planetary, they are hub reduction by Clark, like a Kirkstall, Albion and MAN Mercedes. Secondary Wilson pattern reduction gearsets mounted in each wheel hub allowing the use of smaller differentials and increase ground clearance .
Looks as if this truck has a pusher fan which kinda makes sense since it’s an off-road unit. It does have a pull-type fan though so it’s not going to operate as efficiently. If it hasn’t had overheating issues yet then it never will though. That parts truck, on the other hand...
Can you explain "Abandon" Please? Is it yours now? finders keepers? you fix it you can take it home? because the the totalizers for the fuel are worth a chunk of change as is the tanks on that truck.
Years ago I learned that a battery needs to be 12. 7 volts minimum. It is considered dead at 12 volts. Your charging system operates at 13 - 14 volts. I had a Bluebird bus with a 5.9 cummins . It had a 200 amp starting circuit. I am sure that C15 would have a 300 amp starting circuit. And PLEASE DON'T either a Cat engine. Very bad for them.
Not sure what country you’re in but that’s a 70 series Toyota Landcruiser @ 5.58… Pretty rare for North America.. I’m guessing you are somewhere else in the world?
Casey needs that truck
😂weak

the did that at work with a 2019 excavator and fried all the ECM's

Not even close to 600

@@leonstefan6183 I concur ... definitely not abandoned.
Exactly - abandoned implies no one has title to the “thing” - rest assured someone, somewhere has it
@@leonstefan6183you wrote my thoughts, thank you.

please!
rebuild it!

What mine? I’m in Elko and Bald Mountain (Kinross) has a couple of line trucks that resemble this’un… just in operational condition 😂
The c500's are definitely my favorite rigs because how unique and versatile they are. One of my dreams is to find an old one and restore it to her former glory
I like that the Cat guys are using a John Deere Service truck. 😀
Yes, Rebuild It Back. That would be great. 👍❤️💯
Yes 2 part video. Really impressed with you and Robert on these great big machines. This is not something you see every day definitely.
Please bring it back to life fully working 💪 kenworths are just such iconic truck's, love your videos here in the UK 🇬🇧 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I can’t believe they left a 2006 just sitting there. Probably the best truck in the fleet
You know you got a gnarly ass truck when it’s got a platform on it to work on the motor 💪💪💪
New to watching your channel but only a minute into it and I’m intrigued (for a non-mechanically inclined person) to watch more👍🏻
Fucin brilliant piece of equipment, and so very necessary in it's environment... thanks again for the presentation bro
Dude! I used to drive and fix that truck!
Dang.. I didn't think it would start. Would have lost that bet. Thanks for the video

you must go over 14 volts to charge the batteries😅
Get it running again and put it back in use 👍
Finding that is like a dream come true, I'm very jealous!
Yes it needs to go back to work and Bruce you are the man for the job
Just found the channel, brilliant idea to try and return this truck to operation standard.

I love how I watch these videos, and you guys spray ether without the engine cranking. That's how you damage the internals.
Super cool truck, would love to see it restored and functional again as a lube truck, or if all the pumps and tanks are gone, convert it into a mobile work truck with welding and cranes
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
That's a truck worthy of redoing for service rig and be perfect for heavy haul service truck and cat power hell ya.
Make it fully functional. Cool truck!
Sweet video , can’t wait to see part 2
Would love to see this thing rebuilt, and maybe even take it off-road
Nice work. 👍
Would love to see it back in service
Thumbs up,great video, yea,save it
A great video lads,
Is there a part two?
Because I'm hooked now!
Hi Quinton, nice to see you. Love the truck.
Go for it it would be great to see her working as she was meant to
Why the heck not! Use it in the yard.~~ Cris H 😊😊😊
Youre a bad ass mechanic if you can get that beast functional again.
I wonder if this was a Barrick or Newmont truck before their merger they had to create NGM. Cool to see that there are some around

American transit buses started using those same German sourced HR axles from the 2000s.
Yes, make it functional if it is cost effective. 😎👍
What a massive BEAST

When you first got on top of the truck I thought they was a whole bunch of washing machines 😂😂
This is my dream truck! I want to buy it! Even if it’s just cab and chassis l 😆 I wish I can drive and own one.

Make it work buddy love to see it at work
Another great adventure
That 24M grader on the background is a monster grader mate
Yes keep going on it - great video
Not many left my oldman sold one about 10yrs ago watercart 6x6 blown 2stroke Detroit
Put it to work, this baby still has some life in the yard to play with
Purrs like a kitten!
Subscribed to see where this is going with the old c500....
Sure, would make a great service truck, I'm surprised diesel creek Matt didn't contact you to buy it
This is too high class for diesel creek 😂😂😂
@@mizzo_beeto lol and definitely too much truck for Matt's needs, but I'm sure he wouldn't turn it down if offered ;)
How do you change tires on tire manipulator? Do you need two? 😅
A 12volt C15. I naturally assumed they were all 24 volt. I can’t see why anyone would build a 12volt truck? Anyhoo, cool machine :o)
Didn't know you guys got 79 series landcruisers over there I seen it in the background. I love these things I've got one
thats a 75

Lots of these big trucks still working in Alberta.
How come you were talking about how many amps it was pulling while trying to start is that important ???? Love the vida 😊
Can't imagine abandoning a custom-spec severe-duty truck like that...
restore it because it is cool
I want to know if all the truck's tires are in good condition, as well as the brakes, and of course I also want to know if this truck has a turbine.
Who owns the HZJ75 LandCruiser early in the video? Looks like a RHD model.
I need one of those to build a camper on
What's the story on the 359? Any progress on that one?
How's the truck restoration coming along?
What a monster! I wonder if it’s triple framed?
I from aus and I haven’t seen a 75 series cruiser in America before saw it when I saw the tire manipulator should do that one up
Bottom filling is to prevent static electricity buildup,
thus preventing the fumes from igniting
There's nothing like a Caterpillar engine!
Great job.
Yeah yall need that truck in the yard. I definitely know that for the work yall do brother
Where in Nevada was this truck at
