Excellent video and very informative I bought the rebuild kit me and my son removed the trans from my 08 e250 van and followed your video I got to the end and I had one clip I believe the anti rattle clip had to go to another video to see where it went but all and all you saved me $3400 that I didn't have thanks so much for the video
I followed the video all the way thru my rebuild, then stuck on the pump. Yr moving too fast and the camera isn't pointed at u.. Im gonna have to find another way to assemble the pump I guess lol. Anyways, thanks for getting me most of the way thru it.
this video was very helpful, got me motivated to reassemble my 4R75. but I got stuck right away, the output shaft assembly will not fit in the case bushing, gets stuck and wont turn. this is because i pressed a new case bushing in, must have distorted. now have to figure out how to enlarge/round it out.
Hey man. Wondering if you have see this transmission and van get a mean vibration from the output shaft. I'm get alot of up and down movement from the tailshaft. Any chance this is comon? I had 2 2007 e350's with lots of play.. any info would be great. Great channel man. Lots of help.
I’m very mechanically, inclined, and have rebuilt engines, but never an automatic transmission. My 07 f150 2WD it’s starting to throw a trans fault code pretty frequently. It’s got 180,000 on the odometer and I’m wondering if this is something that I could tackle or if I should just pull the transmission and bring it to a shop. Is it mostly just assembly or does it need to be “set up” like a differential?
Thanks for your video I have a question I sow that at the botton you check with the air presure the fowar clutches itis another hole and I wonther what itis for also I have a problem when I putit in drive it doesn't feel the push when go to drive and if I give some gas it soung like something is spending real fas but the pickup don't move that fas it goes very slowly or don't go at all
Im losing first gear, how much do you think it would cost to rebuild the transmission? I think you mentioned what it might be in this video.. how much would you charge for something like that? Whats a good price?
We usually charge retail about $1800-2000 for the unit with torque converter. That’s without install. If you are losing 1st I’m sure the forward clutch is delaminating or the snap ring groove is broken out of the drum. Make sure to pay a bit more for the billet drum. These transmissions are light duty for vans and f150
Hello, I rebuild mine 05 4w75e before I take it out I just wonder if it can be fix before taking it down, 1st and 2nd ok but 3rd engages and one or two sec it will slow down like if reverse engages... Any idea what could be is not the first tranny I fix. This is my truck, thankfully Thank you in advance...
2nd gear is the clutch pack right below the pump. 4th gear is the band. Could have 2 separate issues. I’d scan for codes and make sure the vehicle is sending the commands for each shift. If it is you may have internal issues.
Awesome video man. I’ve got 2006 Ford expedition and lost all gears except for reverse. I took my valve body off and thought maybe I could see something from there but no luck. My gut tells me I’m gonna need a new transmission altogether. Any possible recommendations?
@@andrewkoutlas Is it ok to just dig in as far as the forward drum, if that is the issue. Never dug into a trans, this video is building some confidence to try. Hard to find a shop that will answer the phone, let alone trust. Just a bunch of fine material on pan magnet.
Great video. Can you tell me why the flow from tranny to a cooler is so weak? I have the same tranny on my e350 and I performed a flow test directly from tranny to an empty bottle. So I got one quart in 2 minutes which is bad sign. But it shifts like it should and there is no codes or issues except high working temp. Thanks.
That sounds a little low. Usually you want 1.5-2 gallons a minute. Depending on the year if it has a thermal valve block about 10” off the trans in the cooler lines you could have an issue there. You can also bypass the radiator cooler and go to a nice 12”x12” aux cooler only. The radiator cooler could be restricted. Lastly, there is a flow valve in the valve body that can get restricted with clutch material and cause no flow. But if that happens something major usually came apart already in the unit or converter. Hope this helps!
@@andrewkoutlas Thanks for the answer. My car is 2006. The transmission has already been changed before me, because the tag says 2008. There is no thermostat in the cooling line. I examined the entire system and did not find anything similar. I know what it looks like. Even if I disconnect the line directly from the transmission, the fluid barely flows from there. That is, nothing interferes with it anymore, but it still flows slowly. The external (aux) radiator is always cold, as if there is not enough pressure to rise to it. This is strange because the gears shift perfectly, there are no problems with the gearbox at all. The filter is new, new fluid in the required volume. I have no more thoughts, I don’t know where to look =(((
Question. 08 F150. 4R75. Reverse engages and moves, but only on flat ground, its insanely slow, and giving it gas does nothing. I have a hard time believing its a reverse band because it does engage and work. Its just slow.
It could be a broken band but the reverse clutch is also on in reverse so that could be trying to move the vehicle a little bit. Either way rev issues are mechanical not electric in this unit

This really takes me back. I rebuilt hundreds of these starting with the AOD trans up to the 4R70W.
Great video , I learned a few critical steps by watching this video.

Yes I will try to get one up in a few weeks!
If you do a video, can you list the tools required to rebuild a 68rfe?
Is it difficult to remove the ring gear support from the output shaft?

How can I find out what length the extension housing is if I don’t have access to the vehicle?
I have a 2008 E-150 2WD
Thank you
Where are you guys located, what state? I'm in queens ny with 1985 ford E150 AOD Trans she needs a rebuild. Thanks Oliver NYC
Can you do a video on the Dodge 68rfe?

Sounds like a direct clutch issue deeper in the unit.
You said that these transmission is not enough transmission for the big f150. Witch transmission do you recommend.
Hello, I have an E-350 van and in second gear it has no power, 3* yes and then 4* it accelerates by itself and does not advance

No forward is usually the snap ring groove broken on the forward drum and the lip seals torn. Upgrade to the billet drum
Did you find a good rebuilt trans place. See a few online sellers but kinda leary...

Will this work for 2008 crown Victoria Police intercepter
I need that info also. My son just asked me to help rebuild the trans in his ‘08 PI.
That’s why I’m here.
What’s the approximate cost for a rebuild on a 05 F150 5.4 3 v 4/wd
We usually sell carry units around $1800-2000 range. With installation and fluids about $3000-3300 plus tax
My brother has an 07 e350 with this tranny in it. We were told that the 07 only takes this transmission. Is that true? Thanks.
04-07 interchange as long as it has 2 speed sensors and the hard wire harness inside

He has the 5.4 L engine. Does that make a difference?
