Megan wasn't necessarily evil nor was her change rushed you have to remember she's programmed to protect Cady from physical and emotional harm so when the dog attacked her and Cady that's when she started to kill in order to do what she believed necessary to protect Cady so first it was the dog then it went from there that wasn't rushed
The difference between both movies : In Child's play you care for the family, in M3gan we care for Megan herself.
I kind of disagree with what you said about the story and the killer doll for M3gan mostly for the same reason which is how and why she got hostile.
M3gan technically didn't turn wrong she didn't have any misunderstanding to the situation like Chucky. Gemma messed up, and asked her to do it, That's why M3gan start to kill.
The parental control wasn't the reason why M3gan started to act out, it's what Gemma did after, Gemma gave the directive to M3gan to protect the kid physically and emotionnally, she basically order M3gan to be a mom and it followed immediatly therefore going from doll to Mom. The movie talks about the AI influence on children but also point out how the parents participe to that. That's why the making of the doll was important so we could see how Gemma ended up messing both her kid and the doll she created. Most people watching blamed Gemma more than M3gan they could see how she was messing up everytime.
So i think M3gan transition isn't really rushed, or better when you think about the reasons why she became what she became, it's just different.

I can kind of look past some of the flaws that the character M3gan has. It’s obvious that Gemma rushed her production just to give Cady entertainment and so Gemma wouldn’t get in trouble. I think the reason M3gan had so many things missing like parental controls or limits to how she interacted with people was because Gemma was rushing to get something that just “worked” without taking the time to program specific protocols.
That’s just my opinion. Regardless, this was an excellent video. Keep up the great work.

It's kind of weird that the child's play reboot got so much hate yet M3gan Had the exact same plot and was loved just because it was a reboot of anything
Child’s Play I hear in the Don Mancini continuity continues to go down in quality especially for that tv show. Seed of Chucky really damaged the franchise that bad beyond repair huh? By the way, horror shouldn’t be focused on sexual identity just because the creator is gay. It’s okay to have some LGBTQ representation, but over doing it resulted in Seed of Chucky and also the tv series having also too much comedy and parody level absurdity. And yet Don uses the shield of saying Christians are “evil” saying gay people go to hell. 🤦 I’m a Christian and that’s offensive especially since I’m more open minded than must others. The Child’s Play reboot from 2019 was the last good thing from the franchise since probably Bride of Chucky.

Eric Carter, your videos are amazing and it really feels satisfying because every point you include in videos like these are really accurate and understandable. Your videos never fail to dissapoint and keep it up. Also could you do M3GAN (2023) vs Five Nights at Freddys (2023). Both are Blumhouse movies and they both have merely the same plot beats about murdering dolls/ animatronics and how the main character of this movie has to protect their sibling from them. Because I think the new FNaF movie is gaining too much hate and its pretty insulting.
People initially also hated the Friday the 13th 2009 remake, but clearly there was no reason to hate it as it wasn’t bad at all! And the 2009 reboot has gained a cult following over the years. It actually was genius for condensing the first 3-4 films of the original series into a movie. Example on how to remake, and not like Pyscho 1998 and Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 which are bad examples.

Actually, the reason MEGAN was released as PG-13 was because the Tik-Tok of her dancing was a huge hit with tweens, so they tweaked it so it could be PG-13 so those kids could go see the movie. It originally was gonna be rated R.
Yeah. They should’ve at least let it have 2 versions like a R version playing at the same time as the PG-13 cut.

It is so funny that M3gan the PG13 movie didn't have the main character trying to sway the toy villain by singing but instead it's the R rated one. Cady just straight up uses Bruce to save the day but Andy in the 2019 one goofily sings
Y E S finally chucky 2019 vs M3gan 2023 personally i saw a lot of similarities they both get slowly violent as hey progressing becoming more aware and do whatever it takes to protect Cady and Andy and tried to kill off her aunt and his mom so so yeah, I’ve heard rumors that films both are getting sequels so my exceptions are neutral good or bad either way I’m down to clap!

I would like to defend M3GAN'S whole killing spree. It actually wasn't rushed. The film does explain why M3GAN does what she does. M3GAN doesn't go all evil just because she saw the dog bite Cady. Hell, she doesn't even turn "evil." You see, the scene before Cady gets bitten. M3GAN over hears Gemma's conversation with her friends about Cady's parents being dead. M3GAN didn't know about Cady's parents being dead. She also didn't know Cady was secretly hiding her feelings about the lost of her parents. M3GAN then starts questioning herself, what is death? Does everything die? Will all humans die eventually? And the big question to M3GAN was, will she die someday? She comes to the conclusion, she doesn't want to die and she certainly doesn't want to lose Cady. She wants to be with her and protect her forever. She wants Cady to be happy...forever. So now M3GAN is willing to do whatever it takes to protect Cady. Even if that means she has to kill. M3GAN wasn't really trying to be evil. She was being over protected with Cady, and her programming started to develop on it's own. Through M3GAN's prospective, she thought she was doing right. After all, she was doing what she was designed to do. Protect Cady. But she went too far. I personally think the film did a great job showing M3GAN's transformation.

I didn't like either of these movies to be honest. M3GAN just wasn't for me, I found it annoying to be honest. Child's play 2019 I kind of warmed up too, but It still doesn't compare to the Real Chucky imo.

Completely disagree when it comes to M3GAN. I think the characters and the world were actually much better developed than Child's Play. I didn't feel a big connection to the characters in Child's Play, while in M3GAN I did.
I think the way that the doll is slowly introduced enhances the experience. Because you are given the chance to get to know the human characters before the doll gets introduced. You see how Gemma and Cady interact with each other, how Gemma doesn't know how to interact around a traumatized child, and how Cady is really detached from everything through the trauma of losing her parents.
And then when M3GAN gets introduced it's really interesting psychologically how she gets Cady to open up, and be vulnerable, and the bond that that creates. How technology sometimes replaces parental figures in certain ways and what consequences this can have (good and bad). The whole story starts with Cady on the iPad, which is how this story relates to our current reality, and kids' attachments to technology.
The movie also has themes of unhealthy attachments/addictions with how Cady later on acts out when she is separated from M3GAN. It gets into A.I. ethics "She's not a person!" - "You don't get to say that.", and the responsibilities of both creators of technology and parents. It deeply explores what being a parent means. Then there's also topics of grief and trauma and the effects these things have on children. And the general theme of connection: What do we connect to? How do we connect to real people vs. technology?
And in terms of plot I also think the way that M3GAN turns evil is very clever. It all starts when she asks about the death of Cady's parents and gathers information on death after Gemma told her not to. M3GAN then gets very contemplative, researching the topic even further and grappling with it, since her primary objective is keeping Cady safe. The problem is: Cady could die, and that means suddenly little injuries become very dangerous threats for Cady's survival because M3GAN gets her data from the internet, and according to the internet anything could kill you (because it theoretically could). So when moments later Cady is bitten by the dog, and survives, M3GAN realizes that there are cases of children dying after being bitten by a dog. So she takes him out. The bully is physically threatening Cady as well, so she takes action. The dog owner becomes a threat only when she starts getting suspicious and alarming the police: If M3GAN or Gemma get convicted for the murder of the dog, then Cady's survival is threatened once more. At the same time M3GAN grows weary of Gemma's parenting style, she's observing everything, and slowly gets more rebellious in the interactions because she is starting to feel as though maybe Gemma is a threat to Cady. The later kills seem a little more far-fetched but she has been taken out of commission by her creator, and is being kept from Cady, so that means M3GAN needs to get back to Cady and get rid of any obstacles in the way. The workers at the corporation are bound to create more M3GAN dolls, so that is a concern itself because if they are all being programmed to keep their own children safe, there might be conflicts of interest. If someone, who was harming Cady, had a M3GAN, it would make things more difficult, so she ramps up the killings to prevent the launch, and get back home. And finally attempting to incapacitate Gemma is something M3GAN does because Gemma was the one keeping her from Cady, and also the one that seems to neglect her. And she only tries to hurt Cady as soon as Cady tries to hurt her. If M3GAN is programmed to keep Cady safe and feels like she is the only one who can, and Cady is trying to kill her, then Cady is threatening her own safety. So M3GAN is trying to prevent Cady from hurting Cady, so her programming gets messed up, and she makes herself her own primary user because the only way to override her programming is by getting rid of Cady, so she is free to do whatever she wants.
That way I think the way M3GAN's chatacter develops is very gradual and logical, it's always connected to what she learns or experiences. And contrary to you argument does not come out of nowhere. Sometimes it's very subtle in the way M3GAN looks at Gemma or how she waits for Gemma to say something when Cady forgets to use a coaster. I'm not arguing that Child's Play is bad, I really like that movie too. But I think M3GAN is more rich in themes, and character development if you look beneath the surface. And I also think the way the story is building is very intentional and clever. And I also think it's an incredible foundation for a sequel. To see how Gemma and Cady's relationship changes after what happened, and what M3GAN's goals will be now. Now she is free to build herself anew, and it will be interesting to see which themes might get explored with whatever new situation brings the characters together again.
In my opinion, M3gan succeeded at everything Child's play didn't.

It’s something I have to say I have not seen the child’s play remake. I do have it on DVD I just haven’t watched it yet. But personally, I really like the movie Megan I feel like Megan is one of those ones where you actually have to pay attention, and you will see the decline.

Scream (2022) and “6” with a Roman Numeral are both not canon! Scream 4 is the canon ending to the Scream franchise that Wes Craven and Kevin Williamsan created together. I hope Wes’ estate takes back the rights because I’m not going to watch future movies with Sam Loomis and her politically correct friends who have god-tier plot armor! This is what horror has become. Not my Scream!

I definitely prefer M3GAN, I just couldn't get into the Child's Play remake. The side characters aren't very good in either of them, but I felt much more empathy towards Cady than Andy. And M3GAN is, overall, more menacing than Chucky. I like that they gave Chucky moments where you feel sorry for him, but I prefer the more direct tone of M3GAN.

Scream 2022 / “5” and Scream Roman Numeral VI are both terrible and not canon to Scream 1-4 in my opinion. I’m excited to not watch Scream “7” when it gets made at some point. I’m going to boycott it and not support it to be respectful to the great late Wes Craven. WTF was his stupid estate thinking giving up the Scream rights as soon as he passed?! 🤦
