    If you mail something you might want to put the decorated envelope inside of a different one suitable for mailing so thr decorations and seals don't rip or break.

      Yeah that's what I do. I'm too anxious to just ship it as is. Knowing how the post office here works the envelopes get ripped let alone the wax staying there 💀

    I have some tiny silicone makeup spatulas that I use to get the last of the wax out with. Then I wipe the remaining wax out. I really enjoy your tips. Thank you

    Hello there, I have just found your video! I am late to wax seals so your video was useful. Thank you. 😊

    This was so very helpful!!! Thank you. I had to laugh at the words on the torn piece of paper at the bottom of the very last envelope in the video tho… definitely not something you would want to gift someone… unless you despised them! LOL 😂

    I have been reluctant to mail a letter with a wax seal on the outside. I once received a friend’s wedding invitation with a wax seal on it, in the mail in the United States, and the wax seal was cracked and chipped, but maybe I was just unlucky. I should definitely give it a try!

      If you want to give your wax seal a better chance in the mail, send it as a non-machinable envelope so it can be hand sorted! Not all post offices will actually hand sort, some will see if it runs through a machine anyways to try and save time though. Just go to the counter and ask for a non-machinable surcharge stamp, it costs around $1

    In the USA, they do charge you extra to hand cancel, but it doesn’t save the mail from the second sorting machine. It is random if it survives. The newer sorting machines were removed and destroyed by the current Post Master General in certain areas of the Country. If you get lucky, one of the old machines will not damage the seals. But, in my area it is common to even have consistent one inch bites in the envelopes even without a seal. :(

      Aw that is really sad to hear! Thanks for commenting and letting us know what it is like in the USA.

      @@noteandwish I'm in the US and I used wax seals on my Christmas cards this year. I did pay extra to hand cancel them, but they all arrived at their destinations with seals intact. Even the ones going cross country.

    Thank you for your informative video, I did learn something. I do have a few questions: does the color of the wax have a meaning? I just got a new signet ring, the shield on our coat of arms is blue, can I use blue wax? Is there like some really old rules to wax seals? I had been thinking of putting the wax seal next to the signature instead of sealing the envelope, would both be too much?

    iI thought that when seal an envelope you break the seal to open? My seals are flexible and tear the paper? any advice. I am using the same as you

    • @noteandwish
      @noteandwish  Рік тому +3

      Hiya! If you want to have wax seals that break upon opening then you will need to purchase 'traditional wax'. Modern wax are all flexible and tend to tear the paper when you remove them. Hope that helps!
