Same kind of problems like this occurs with KickStart audio projects. I submitted a sum of $500 for a high end audio player. It's been over 5 years and the company has disappeared. Another lesson learned.
Sorry to hear Jay. To let your viewers know, you are the real deal. Got my cables quick, fast and in a hurry and am loving the benefits they brought to my system.
I'd never pay for anything a retailer can't afford to stock. If they need me to pay for it up front thetes running a charity not a business. Same goes for a manufacturer.thats why they earn a profit.
It's common that manufacturers will list "authorized dealers" on their website. If you're spending this kind of money, I'd certainly recommend only using a dealer approved by the manufacturer.
I did and still got scammed. Yes I could have gone to the mfr and complained, etc. But the dealer dude is too unstable. No telling what he would have done. Not worth the drama and me looking over my shoulder.
I mean, the story I heard is "I bought $30k in equipment knowing I was getting the wholesale cost, which cannot be done through legit means, and knowing the guy was using my cash to cover 100% of the transaction, and then he got burned in the deal, but I wanted 100% of the upside, without risk. I love a free lunch." This is like a guy who fronts someone a key of blow hiring a lawyer to sue that guy after he gets robbed and can't pay. I mean, you don't sue in a situation like that. You take the L, or you go after the guy hard. You can't sue when you'ree doing G business. Wtf??
100% thank you for being brave enough for showing how a scam unfolds. I hope you get to the bottom of this and they are liquid enough to get your money back. And eventually fully reveal who this scumbag is.
Sorry to hear about this guy's trouble, let's hope he listens to his lawyer's advice and stays away from defaming the dealer or doing anything that could jeopardize the lawsuit. The lesson to be learned here, it's never a good idea to pay up front.

30k??!?!? I just got burned $200 for a replacement Martin Logan ESL panel from a guy on AVS Forum and I'm contemplating hunting him down. Lol 30k would have me going CRAZY! I really hope you get all your money back and still expose the guy Jay
@@samuelcain5426 Yeah its an ESL-EM panel. One of my panels just stopped working pretty much completely. A brand new ESL-EM panel replacement is $700ea from ML so I was on the hunt to find a replacement that worked so I made a post on AVS Forum and the guy responded. In the meantime though, I washed the panel in the shower with simply green spray and the thing sounds brand new again! So honestly, I don't really even need the replacement panel but I already sent the guy money. Hes trying to tell me he shipped the panel but sent it to the wrong address. I said ok, send me the tracking number of the package so I can see where it was sent. The guy will not send a tracking number but proceeds to say he needs another $50 to get the package back. If that doesn't sound like a scam, idk what does! So i asked, how would you all of a sudden know that you sent it to the wrong address after 2wks of "shipping" the panel? Where is the tracking number? He said that instead of putting GA for the state, he put CA. Which is funny because if you made that small of an error, the courier's system would have noticed the error due to the zip code not matching the state.
Never pay in full for a product that has to be ordered or built. A deposit should be sufficient to place the order and only pay in full once the product is available for pickup or delivery. That is a red flag that they dealer isn't legit or worthy of handling your business. In this case, it is theft if he refuses to refund your money, when he isn't able to deliver the product you paid for.
This happened to me. Paid for a Gold Note Phono Stage and Power Supply from SnM Fidelity in Edmonton, Alberta. The dealer ghosted me, wrapped up shop never to be heard from again. If you sense someone is in financial distress or they even mention the slightest issue regarding inventory, do not proceed. The inventory thing got by me due to Covid but i knew better. Don't deal with Fat Mike in Edmonton area.
Long time ago I had similar problem. I bought a set of speakers from a audio shop but it sounded much different from set in the store. He accepted the return and I bought another set which he said needs to be ordered. After couple of months waiting and calling, I contacted the distributer who said they had it in stock. It seems that the seller was not an authorized dealer. Luckily I was able to get my money back after confronting him.
This is why authorized dealer networks exist with territorial boundaries. Never buy from a dealer out of your immediate area and always make sure they really area the dealer. Your legal case is against the guy who lied to you and screw you, but you can't pull anyone else in. also, I would pay him an unexpected visit and demand your money face to face.
yeah exactly! Obviously him and Jay had an unethical relationship from the beginning. Seems like Jay is one of those guys that just calls every dealer in the country looking for the dealer that's going to be unethical. Thats tough in itself, he never would have gotten scammed if he bought from reputable dealers in his state for retail. But he doesn't want to pay retail, because there's no money when he goes to resell. So you open yourself up to problems like this.
Lots of respect Jay, for what ever reason you are getting these amps it should not matter to anyone. Hope you can resolve this . God bless you and your business. Love from Florida.
During the years that we sold through retailers there was a constant undercurrent of guys attempting to subvert our distribution agreements. Yeah, but it's a crying shame when customers put their faith and money in the hands of those guys. If you're wondering why so many of us now sell direct, this is one of the reasons.
Sorry for that, Jay! Happens in many industries. Ultimately business is based on trust, you can be ripped off in construction etc. Only rule is: never pay big sums upfront. Pay step by step

I cannot tell you what I went through to learn the lesson that you should trust no one. It cost me 6 figures with lawyers' fees, 4 years to go to court, and 10 years of trying to forget it. Trust no one and the more trustworthy they appear, the less you should trust them. And don't get me started about courts. The most important thing when you go to court is for your lawyer's office to have funded the judge's campaign. The law is irrelevant as is the crime.
He find it surprising that Jay did not know from the start that the person he did business with, was not a dealer for these amplifiers. He knew that person's business and probably what brand he represents. So how much of a dodgy deal was it to start with?
Jay I admire your courage because it's hard to say that we've "been taken" - at first, we feel "dumb" but in actual fact all we have done is trust - that's not dumb - it's sad because it reduces our trust in humanity. I do hope this audio dealer comes to his senses and reimburses you . If not out of honesty then to at least to be smart enough to save his business. Whether it is you or not, SOMEONE or SOMETHING will come to the surface one day to expose this charlatan. I hope for the best for you!
When you got that 100k cable, you got scammed for 99k. When you got that 14k Nordost cable, you got scammed for $13900 and so the list goes on. In this event, it just became glaringly obvious because the guy took your money and didn't send you anything.
@@koolblue2 It's a fact that flashy cables don't do anything useful. Let's talk about what it means for something to be a fact. We first make a hypothesis. Then we design a repeatable objective experiment that can falsify the hypothesis. Then we carry out the experiment and if the hypothesis is not falsified it is considered true. All of this can be done with audio cables. We can measure "differences" between cables with equipment that far exceeds the resolution of the human ear. We can verify that no measurable difference exists. Therefore no audible difference exists. If you really want to be pedantic you can carry out double blind ABX tests to verify that no audible difference exists. All of these tests have been done. Consult Douglas Self's excellent book on power amplifier design for details.
After you settle will you keep us in touch of who they are ? I got riped by monster cable company I was told to return some cables for warranty issues and I have proof that they signed for it but still have not heard back from them they stoped answering any calls ??
Welcome to the world of high-end audio. It's systemic. In no other industry outside of the car sales industry does caveat emptor mean so much! That is why one needs to be extra cautious when looking to purchase this stuff from small or big dealers. Get references, background checks, etc. Along with immediate written commitment. The legit ones will do that without any push, just for the asking. The scenario you describe happens a lot. Even some years ago when I was looking for speakers I ran into this only in that case it was a larger dealer with a physical shop and everything. They were trying to get a line of speakers illegally. They had two pairs of well known speakers (they had many well known high-end speakers of current age), I was interested in and were really trying to get me to purchase them promising me the moon in regards to warranty and all that. Something did not quite match the smell test to me. So I went straight t the manufacturer and found out that they have certain dealers "authorized" to sell their product lines and this particular dealer was NOT one of them. So I got involved (dragged into) the whole thing and got them busted, but it is ok as it is kind of civic duty I guess. The upside was that my local dealer (another brick and mortar shop) was applying to become an "authorized dealer" for the brand's lines and somehow I ended up helping him with that directly with the manufacture through it all and they ended up granting him the license to sell their lines. (I don't know exactly what I was doing other than just talking with some nice folks at the brand and chatting with my local dealer who was also very kind to me. (Did not mind me coming into his high-end shop knowing full well I did not have such money, but more than willing to show me things and educate me instead of being a snob and turning me away). As a result of all that weirdness they also gave him permission (he asked them of course) to help me a little to climb into the speakers I wanted. Still took tons of work and saving over a two and half year period (I was 3/4 of the way there at the time) and so he was allowed by the manufacture to let me pay wholesale basically. It pays to do the right thing even if you don't know what the hell happened and where just talking with some nice folks back and forth being helpful.
Classic: Good deal, too good to be true. Emotion clouds judgement. With clearer state of mind, this would have smelled bad to you right out the gate. Learning experience. It can happen to any of us.
Karma will come for that guy. Hopefully jail time. Being stung like that hurts but It happens to that best of us, this happens on a daily . Don't let it affect your wellbeing mate. Living with the stress of being ripped of his horrible. What a scumbag p.o.s . Thanks for the video, this will help others going through similiar.
Contrary to popular belief many dealers are robbing Peter to pay Paul. 30k amps are not flying out the door as much as they would try to convince you of it. Most dealers have 2 or 3 high rollers buying high end gear, 10-15 up to keep the whole thing going.
My friends opened a high-end audio store on Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich, CT. Richest town in CT, like Beverly Hills in CA. Lots of rich people buying stereo gear. NOT! Their store didn't last even a year!
Oh no. So you were flipping for a profit and ultimately “got scammed” and it’s not the first time you got scammed. Is flipping for a profit scamming? Karma
A similar incident happened with my brother. Brother signed a contract to have this contractor put in a solar system. Bank gave the guy the money directly. The contractor sends out a guy to pour a 3x5 concrete pad. I could have done that for 15 bucks. Never hear from the contractor again. Cops say since he did some work no matter how little it was constituted as a civil matter. The lawyer told my brother it's a waste of money because this guy will just file bankruptcy and never pay a cent in a civil suit. This contractor did the same thing to many others, and we had found out he had served time for fraud before. This thief has done this in several states. And no one arrests him because he does 50 dollars in work but steals tens of thousands off the homeowner. Gets off scott free
My bigger concern is that you felt the need to spend $30k on amplifiers. Snake oil marketing. Even if they did arrive as promised, you still got robbed. Don't waste your money on things that don't make any difference whatsoever in the sound. Good luck on getting this all rectified, though.
Find out if his business is insured through an LLC If not, and your attorney should know this, have them immediately start the lien process on all assets he ownes. Since this is a civil matter its 100% your responsibility to collect even if the case is won in your favor. I'd also have uncle Vinny on standby just incase everything goes south.
You were not scammed. You were taken advantage of for being ignorant in trusting any dealer with a 30G acquisition. I have quite an investment in Vintage audio and I've done all the acquisitions without the help of any dealer or middle man. They saw you coming and just took advantage of the situation. No explanation needed, as common sense is no longer common...

Its gonna be a big one I heard from the news in Europe
Jay I admire your courage because it's hard to say that we've "been taken" - at first, we feel "dumb" but in actual fact all we have done is trust - that's not dumb - it's sad because it reduces our trust in humanity.
I do hope this audio dealer comes to his senses and reimburses you . If not out of honesty then to at least to be smart enough to save his business. Whether it is you or not, SOMEONE or SOMETHING will come to the surface one day to expose this charlatan. I hope for the best for you!
Sad to hear.. hope u win !!
Unfortunately, if he is in financial trouble, he will declare bankruptcy. You might get $.10 per dollar back.
I don't know about U.S. bankruptcy laws, but in the case of a legal ruling in a court case, I don't think it would be a dischargeable debt.
man!! I hate to hear this. really hope you get your money back!!!! so many bad people out there.
When you got that 100k cable, you got scammed for 99k. When you got that 14k Nordost cable, you got scammed for $13900 and so the list goes on. In this event, it just became glaringly obvious because the guy took your money and didn't send you anything.
Yep
Facts
that's just an opinion not a fact
I concur. I thought the same thing when I saw the headline.
30K? Your lawyers will cost that.
Depending on the lawyer, he won't have to pay a penny.
I wasn't that calm if someone would scam me with 30,000$... and you can not get him by yourself? Wtf
The law protects the thief
25% deposit is the most I would ever pay up front for anything.
Well when you’re a two bit hustler you know the saying: When you play with fire you’ll eventually get burned!
Classic: Good deal, too good to be true. Emotion clouds judgement. With clearer state of mind, this would have smelled bad to you right out the gate. Learning experience. It can happen to any of us.
😂😂😂😂 That's great news!! You always think everyone following you is poor and cannot afford what you got! Pity they took so little
I wish you the best with your case, that makes me so angry that people can’t be fair.
Lawyers will figure this out
@@jaysaudiolab You're in the right, just unethical idiots using you as a bank.
My friends opened a high-end audio store on Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich, CT. Richest town in CT, like Beverly Hills in CA. Lots of rich people buying stereo gear. NOT! Their store didn't last even a year!
I grew up and spent most of my life in Greenwich, CT. My family was middle class. I had some wealthy friends.
PLEASE DO TELL WHO THIS IS,I WILL DEFINITELY SHARE THIS
Soon
Oh no. So you were flipping for a profit and ultimately “got scammed” and it’s not the first time you got scammed. Is flipping for a profit scamming? Karma
No, that's called business. A car dealer buys low and sells high. That's business
I know a guy in the UK who was ripped off about £20,000 by an audio manufacturer. Hopefully it’s rare but it can be devastating when it happens.
bad luck jay sorry this happened to you.
Gets off scott free
you are a gentleman Jay. 👏That's fraud.
My bigger concern is that you felt the need to spend $30k on amplifiers. Snake oil marketing. Even if they did arrive as promised, you still got robbed.
Don't waste your money on things that don't make any difference whatsoever in the sound. Good luck on getting this all rectified, though.
A fool and his money
💯 nothing wrong telling the truth ever!
I feel scammed just watching this video.
I hope you get your money back..honesty goes along way
Find out if his business is insured through an LLC If not, and your attorney should know this, have them immediately start the lien process on all assets he ownes.
Comming out with such an issue without mentioning names can be harmful to a lot of honest dealers
Meh not really
Where did you meet the dealer
@@alexkane84 Craigslist casual encounters.
There is no honest home audio dealers.
@@jaysaudiolab See, you are 100% wrong in the world you live in.
Name him. Only fair solution.
Sad for you Jay good luck and thanks for the warning.
I appreciate it
