- Get a first look at all-new photos and videos of the World Premiere of DEATH BECOMES HER at Broadway In Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre, now on stage for a limited five-week engagement.
Madeline Ashton is the most beautiful actress (just ask her) ever to grace the stage and screen. Helen Sharp is the long-suffering author (just ask her) who lives in her shadow. They have always been the best of frenemies… until Madeline steals Helen’s fiancé away. As Helen plots revenge and Madeline clings to her rapidly fading star, their world is suddenly turned upside down by Viola Van Horn, a mysterious woman with a secret that’s to die for.
After one sip of Viola’s magical potion, Madeline and Helen begin a new era of life (and death) with their youth and beauty restored…and a grudge to last eternity.
Starring Tony Award nominees Megan Hilty (Wicked, “Smash”), Jennifer Simard (Company, Disaster!), Christopher Sieber (Spamalot, Company), and Grammy® Award winner Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child, Chicago), DEATH BECOMES HER, based on the classic 1992 film, is a drop-dead hilarious new musical comedy about friendship, love, and burying the hatchet…again, and again, and again.
The ensemble includes Marija Abney, Sarita Colon, Kaleigh Cronin, Natalie Charle Ellis, Gabriella Enriquez, Taurean Everett, Michael Graceffa, Neil Haskell, Kolton Krouse, Josh Lamon, Sarah Meahl, Diana Vaden, Sir Brock Warren, Bud Weber, Ryan Worsing, and Warren Yang. Beau Harmon, Johanna Moise, Amy Quanbeck, & Zach Williams join as swings. - Розваги
Y'all it's so fucking good, I went in with no expectations and didn't see any promo at all. It's one of the best musicals I've seen in a long time
I liked it too. Very well staged and the songs stand out. I esp. didn't know how they choreographed that staircase fall. OMFG, who choreographed that?
Michelle was meant for this! She sounds amazing! 🔥🔥🔥
Yessssss
I can’t say enough of just how outstanding all aspects of this production are. We’re lucky to get this in Chicago before it heads to Broadway. 🖤
Oh The Cast AND THE VOICES! Come thru Michelle!!!!!!! I'm going to see this.
I can't wait for this to come to Broadway! Megan and Jennifer are Broadway comic geniuses!
MICHELLE!!!! Pipes 😍🥰🥰
I’ve seen it twice. 10/10 theatregoing experience. The audience had a blast both nights. Megan, Jennifer, Michelle, Christopher, & the rest of the cast are firing at all cylinders. I need a cast album ASAP!
I saw this tonight and it was FANTASTIC! Megan was amazing Michelle sounded spectacular. Some of the most fun I've had in a theater in years!
"NOW, a [musical]?!"
"Could you just not [sing]?"
"You and your [songbook] are going to be together for a long time."
"Do you remember where we parked the car?"
Vocal showcase of Michelle's part brought me here. Didn't even know this was happening, but loved the dark comedy classic as a kid. Glad it's coming to B'way in the fall just in time for those needing a hocus pocus pick me up during Halloween. Speaking of which, we need a Batman musical. Now, that would be a smash hit.
MEGHAN HILTY IS QUEEN!
saw this a couple weeks ago, one of the best performances i’ve ever seen, and that’s saying a lot
Just saw it and I must say as a harsh critic it was fantastic. Fan service across the board without being too obviously just doing the movie. A few boring songs and long scenes and jokes that didn’t land but for an out of town tryout it was so close to being complete. Excited for Broadway already
Megan Hilty my favourite G(a)linda in Wicked💚
I ❤ Meg Hilty!
Saw this last night in Chicago - it was FANTASTIC!
Yes, we know Michelle Williams. But you might recognize one Ensemble member from your childhood. The Ensemble member behind Michelle and giving the fierce attitude at 1:29 (Angry Teeth)... that's Kaleigh Cronin.... some of you may remember her from the PBS Kids show ZOOM back in the day (Seasons 3 and 4) !! And Kaleigh is also understudying Michelle (plus Megan and Jennifer)!!! A DESTINY'S CHILD member and a ZOOMER on the very same stage?!!! 2 core early 2000's throwback legends in this cast?!!! EPIC!!!
Oh Michelle!!!! Captivating!!!
The source material seems like it would lend itself well to musical theatre. These clips sound great.
I am seeing it for the fourth time Thursday… very good
Michelle sounds better than ever!
THIS SEEMS SO FUN?!!
I hope this lasts long enough for Jinkx Monsoon to star in it!
You know what! 🎯!! Jinkx would do great in this!! Productions like this, just like Little Shop of Horror are perfect her. I can easily see her eating in this.
This looks amaaaaazing!!!!
Oh, this looks fun!
I love Michelle Williams forever
Jennifer and Christopher together again!!!! 🩷🔥
Can’t wait for this to come to New York!
Looks great! Bring it to the UK!!
Yes please 🙏🏾
Saw it 2 weeks ago super fun!
I hope it is so successful they release a pro shot of the musical.
The three amazing women in these clips.....ga Dam! One I was obsessed with from Smash, the other I only liked that Britney musical for her Toxic voice (😊) and the queen....MICHELLE DESTINY CHILD MULTI-OCTIVE Williams ......look, these talented, beautiful women make up equal sides of a triangle. I will be seeing this show due to their high standards of work and talent. I'm so impressed and in love and I'm more queer than Andy Cohen! Ok?
wow Michelle
Can someone please comment the lyrics to both songs? I loved the show, but I can’t understand what they are saying/singing.
It doesn't have to be exactly like the movie but I wish they would change the aesthetics around the Viola (formerly Lisle) character.
Only here for Michelle. Wow, now I want to go see this.
Why put a thumbnail for a different scene??😵💫
Can anyone make out early what Michelle's line is right after 'if you want perfection, take a sip and drink it in'? Is it 'heal your old complexion'?
Yes, that’s what she says.
I saw the performance two Saturdays ago that had closed captioning for the hearing impaired.
Thank you! I saw it yesterday. It was amazing. Death Becomes Her is one of my favorite movies!
Theres the top half of this comment section and then the bottom💀
PURRR
Umm... I want to see this. 👀
Misleading. Your thumbnail isn't even in the clip!
Strikes me as oddly reminiscent of “Bad Cinderella.”
Well some of the Ensemble in this show were in BAD CINDERELLA!!!
Maybe it's those awful ensemble "costumes." I thought of Bad Cinderella immediately the moment the dancers were revealed in the opening number. I guess a lot of dancers are vain about their gym perfected bodies, but having to perform in "clothes" like that must take incredible guts.
Michelle!!! a voice like a meteor!!!!
Wammawink?
If she hasn't already, I hope Ms. Williams has cleared some room on her mantle for her Tony Award. :)
She hasn't a chance to be nominated. She can't act at all.
And she just stood there belting… that was boring to watch… but she can sing
@@shawnburgess9870 Sir, do you see that elaborate costume? What is she supposed to do, flip cartwheels? There’s enough going on in the background with the other dancers. Also consider the role she is playing.
Blah
UGH.
Second song looks like a rip off of Kiss of the spider woman.
I wouldn't put it passed them. Although the new team who wrote the score might have never seen nor heard the cast album of "Kiss Of The Spider Woman."
Rip off?!? It's a poor version- and not sung well
Nope
From what I’ve seen so far the music isn’t memorable.
It never is these days.
I’ve seen it twice and they have some bangers they just haven’t promoted yet!
@@TimoBach You saw it TWICE?! Did someone pay you to go both times?
this doesn't capture any of the magic of the original movie.
Though adept at accessing the exaggeration inherent in camp, musicals in their tiresome earnestness, can sometimes end up lacking the biting, sardonic wit & subversive, shady qualities embedded in the dark comedy sub-genre. They seemed to have retained generic sniping.
Overacting Oversinging Overdosing
Why is everyone moving so slowly?
This looks terrible. This is not funny.
Why are they both overweight?
This sounds like every other musical from the past 20 years. What happened to melody and harmony? Instead, key changes, vocal histrionics, and "show stoppers." Give me The Fantastics any day.
Not only no, but hell no!
It’s like a barrowed dress…that doesn’t fit….sad.
I find having microphones on people's foreheads so distracting. There has to be a better way to mic the actors.
No matter where they try it, this is probably as good as it's ever going to get. In the original Broadway production of "Dreamgirls," they wore actual headsets, thinking the audience would find it 'modern' (for 1981), but most people found them distracting, even though the plot focused on a rock music group. To do a musical without mics, we'd have to be talking a 'dance' show, like the way Twyla Tharp conceived "Movin' Out" and "Come Fly With Me," or this Season's "Ilinoise."
literally all broadway shows are mic'd like that. it's the only kind of mic that can actually capture louder vocals clearly.
It's only distracting since it's zoomed up close at the actors. You'd only ever notice it if you are in the first row or two.
Just no.
Megan was great, Jennifer was good and Michelle was fine. Her singing was good but the character wasn’t believable. Enjoyable show though. Music needs work and should be a half hour shorter.
I agree Michelle was a lil stiff but otherwise I thought it was incredibly strong!
This is ALL wrong.
Not every mediocre movie needs to be a musical. This thing looks like a total pice of $hit. I have season tickets to the theater in my city, and these touring shows of Tootsie, Beetlejuice, Mean girls, ect… are just horrible. We’re getting “Back to The Future” next season, I only want to see it to find out how they’re going to take a 40 year old beloved movie and turn it into garbage. Maybe I’ll just Stubhub my tickets. The people writing these derivative musicals nobody asked for should be prosecuted for vandalism, and sentenced to serve time at a reform school until they can come up with an original idea.
You sound fun.
@@deansenratz4437 I’m certainly more fun than these horrible redux.
Death Becomes Her was NOT mediocre. It had an iconic, award-winning cast, was a box office hit, won an Oscar, & continued as a hit on home video where it was embraced by young millennials who later brought it to the awareness of subsequent generations via social media posts & RPDR. A B'way musical was inevitable. Surprised we haven't seen a (possibly animated) tv show tracking their decrepit life together.
@@got2bjosh I saw it in the theaters, It was a mediocre movie. It has a 50-ish percentage on metacritic and rotten tomatoes. IMDB gives it 6.6/10. It is not a classic. Its is not iconic. Siskel and Ebert gave it two thumbs down. It is a forgettable, 30 year old movie that has a minor, unexplainable 🏳️🌈 cult following that has propelled it to become a musical. Nobody wants it, nobody asked for it, and it will be another forgettable remake of a Hollywood movie. It’s another sign of the death of Broadway.
@@kd8opi Humorless AND old... sounds like you need the potion! Except that would burden us with your permanent presence.
Very problematic musical. All these raves must be from diehard musical fans and who clearly have no discriminating taste. I thought Michelle Williams was horribly miscast. Sure she can sing, but she can't act at all. It was like she was on Quaaludes during her dialogue scenes. There have been no real improvements on the 1980s movie. The farcical humor and physical comedy all belong to that era. I was hoping for wit and some bite but it's all loud and brash, loads of sex jokes and actors falling down. And those massive voluminous gowns! What the hell?! The two leads are forced to shuffle across the stage instead of walking. I sorely disappointed by the whole thing. The music is forgettable, but the lyrics are often very clever. My favorite part was a stunt that comes near the end of the first act. The only "special effect" that worked on stage turned out to be the highlight of the show.
Guys? GUYS. 🫠
"Flaaaaaacid."
