    Fastest way, with least effort, to die cut is to have the biggest machine, but buy an extra set of plates meant for the smallest one. Then you run the plates with feeding the "longest side" into the machine. This way you don't get warping of the smallest plates that you would use the most. 👍 AND THIS IS SO FAST, YOU WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO ANYTHING ELSE AFTER YOU START DIE CUTTING LIKE THIS ! 🤗 Then you only use the A4 size plates when you actually need that size. That saves the biggest plates that warp more easily. 🤗 I'm thinking they don't market this solution because then they would sell fewer machines... They would sell an extra set of plates, the small ones, though... 😉

      @sharoncurtis  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, lots of people use the smaller plates with the bigger machine to save time - machine choice is all down to personal preference though, and how much space you have etc.

      that;s what I do for most of my regular sized dies. I turn the plate sideways. I also use the smaller plates and platform on my big shot plus and this allows me to angle the plates into the machine esp when using big dies with long straight edges. inserting them straight on makes the plates make that awful "cracking " sound that makes us think we're breaking something. angling the die makes for a easier pass through.

    So helpful! Wasn't sure which one to buy and this video really helped me decide. I am off work for 8 weeks and wanted to make some Christmas cards a book marks for my church. I went with sizziks big shot. The bigger would be way to big for my needs and the sidekicks to small thanks again! Can't figure how to get you every week

    Sharon, thank you for taking the time to make this video. I am so pleased I watched this before making a decision as I was going to buy the Plus just because it was bigger, but your video has shown me quite clearly that the Plus is not for me. Very helpful.

    I haven't been crafting very long but I must say I do agree with you I am a lover of the sizzixs machine I bought the bigshot plus first thinking on the lines I may as well then I can use any size die but then I decided to get a bigshot express which I love but at the time I didn't know the switch existed so I got my husband to buy me one for Christmas so I think I'm all set machine wise thankyou you do explaine very well

    I was looking at the Bigshot plus because I have some large tag, and book making dies that, although they will go through the regular bigshot, there is no way to angle them on the plate, which so many on UA-cam recommend so the dies don't bend or warp. Thank you for the additional information.

    Great video of both machines. Thank you. I had a teal big shot for over 15 years & I absolutely loved it. Then I discovered big shot plus it is an awesome machine. I also have a vagabond & the black sidekick. I gave away the teal one away😿 I miss it too & will probably end up with another one at some point. I love Sizzix die cutting machines because they do it all. They do take up space but it is really worth having at least 1 of them. In my opinion they are the best!

    I am waiting for my first die cutting machine ever and I am excited to say the least! My aunt has the Sizzix big shot standard and after talking to her, I decided to buy one. I did so it all the wrong way around though, I have over 25 dies already before choosing the big shot but it's all working out well, I can't wait to start using it!
    I have just seen this video and have subscribed to your channel in the hopes to pick up some much needed tips, thank you in advance!

    Hi, I bought the plus 3 years ago when I started to make a few cards,. I am so glad I did as I'm now quilting and need it for the quilting dies which are A4, also for toy softees. I have the standard sized plates too, and use them in the plus most of the time, saving the more expensive, larger ones for the larger dies. It's quicker and stronger too.

    Thank you for your informative video. I have a big Shot (which I have leant to a neighbour) and was looking at the Big Shot Pro as I have some Bigz dies). 🤔 I am pretty sure now that the Plus will be good enough for my needs. Many thanks again.

    This will be my first machine. I dabble in making jewelry and I want to make leather earrings, bracelets, etc. I want to use the thickest leather the machine will accept along with thin leathers and maybe thin wood. Which would you suggest? I am leaning toward the Big Shot. Thank you for helping me. Have a Merry, Merry Christmas! 🌲🌲

    • @sharoncurtis
      @sharoncurtis  2 роки тому +1

      Well for cutting leather and thin wood, you definitely need Bigz dies, so definitely a Big Shot. I'd suggest looking at which dies you want to use - if they are the regular Bigz dies, you only need to get the standard size Big Shot, but if you see some of the larger Bigz Plus dies, then you may need the Plus.

    Great video! I’ve been looking to purchase one. I’m solely going to use mine for embossing. I have a cricut and silhouette machine for cutting. Would you recommend one over the other for embossing specifically? Or is there better machines for embossing?

    • @sharoncurtis
      @sharoncurtis  2 роки тому +4

      If you are a card maker, then the standard size big shot should be perfect as it will take most embossing folders (except obviously the really large ones).

    Hi I have an old long sizzix machine with the number 1 and 2 off eBay. I can’t get them through? Are you supposed to use both clear plates with the die inbetween or one plate? It’s too thick with both? Help please. 😊

    Where can I get this pink big shot plus? It beautiful

    • @sharoncurtis
      @sharoncurtis  2 роки тому

      It was a limited edition version about 3 years ago. Sizzix bring out limited edition colours every now and then, and they only make a certain number. You may find a second hand one, or maybe some retailers might still have stock.

    I heard that the Plus applies a bit more pressure than the Big Shot and that can wear down wafer thin dies faster. What’s your opinion on that? I’m keen to get a Plus, but not at the expense of my dies

    • @sharoncurtis
      @sharoncurtis  3 роки тому

      The Plus does have more pressure, but dies don’t wear down, so it won’t have an effect on them.

    Will the regular dies work OK in the Plus machine? I'm looking to buy a die cutting machine. Most of what I will be using it for will be fabric...cutting appliques and bigger things. I'm not really into cards and that sort of thing, but I might want to make some tags and some small boxes. So, if I buy the dies for the regular machine, will they work in the Plus machine? I also want to emboss some of the tags and boxes that I'm planning to make and I want to find some nice sized alphabet sets. Maybe you could recommend some for me. Thank you for making these videos. I've watched several of them that you have put out. I've found them helpful.

    • @sharoncurtis
      @sharoncurtis  Рік тому +1

      Yes you can use Bigz, thin dies and embossing folders in either the standard or Plus Big Shot, the only difference between the machines is the size, they work in the same way.
      Have a look on the Sizzix website for alphabets etc - there are some good sale deals for Black Friday this week.

      @@sharoncurtis Thank you for the swift reply and the good information. I went to the Sizzix website. I found some good deals but the shipping is quite high, so I deleted many of my selections so I could stay within my budget. When I went to check out, the shipping was still the same price with just 3 items as it was for 11 items. Is it always like that? I don't mind paying shipping if it's reasonable, but that doesn't seem reasonable to me. I guess I'll try some other places.
