  • 1 week after delivery of our syil X7 CNC milling machine.
Disregard the date stamp, need to remove that from my camera, it was filmed on the posting date (July 2018).
Audio is quiet until the rotophase starts.

My first youtube video, not smooth, lots of “ahhhhh” and “ummmmmm” and “ya”. Feel free to give me the gears about it.
Aliexpress tools store I mentioned, been really good. I deal with "Jane", you can chat with them about what you need and it seems like they can get anything. Happy with the quality so far! Reasonable express shipping too.

    Hi Peter
Robert Brown here from Sydney Australia.
Ian Porter suggested I watch your C7 video. He also sent me some photos of you taking your mill off the pallet base. I'll have to do the same OUTSIDE of my shed, then use the fork to 'skate' the machine in through a ( low) roller door.
Fantastic resource material for newbies like me 👍
My X7 arrives at my house today some time 👏👏👏
Thanks for doing the video mate, most helpful.
    Regards
    Robert

Thanks for the review. Regarding your wash down hose; replace the coil hose. I installed one on my wash down and flow went to a trickle. Then replaced with a 10ft length of 5/8" ID garden hose and the flow is dramatically better. My pump is a 1/8hp AMT. Couplers are quick disconnect type used in the beer brewing industry. The filter is a 10" 100 micron house sediment filter. On top of the chip pan I use a perforated chaffing dish tray. It traps most chips and makes clean out easy.

I'm a 8 year corporate machinist in aerospace and medical. Never once have I ever used a Haimer. Most I ever had to use was a probe on the 5th axis. Honestly just prefer an edge finder. Not quite understanding why Tormach and Syil users need these.
Great video! Been interested in a Syil for a while now, seems way better quality then my 1100mx.

Glad you enjoyed the video. The new X7’s are on a whole new level of quality. Regarding the Haimer, I don’t have the experience you probably have, but I can’t see how I couldn’t set XYZ faster than you using your methods. I think a lot of us with small machines at home do many, many setups a day so that adds up. In a production environment I see it being less useful. Anyways, different strokes for different folks!

@@betztechnikindustriesltd.8901 Thanks for the reply! Yea im curious how you guys use it, and how its applied on a daily machine. I touch off z with my endmill, and edge find X/Y with a dedicated cat40 tool holder with the edge finder. Set-ups take me 5-20 mins depending on complexity in the fixture. Sometimes im better off indicating a hole for X/Y for accuracy and repeatability.
As far as the X7 goes, yep its way higher quality with 100% more rigidity. Yea you miss out on the robust tech support that others have, but for the capability its on par with any industrial machine versus a hobby machine.

Please guys, show us how do you guys probe with a digital probe on the SYIL machine, I worked more than 5 years on a Tormach 1100, I have a digital probe, and daily I mill ~2 parts, I need to probe each part on multiple sides, without a digital probe the time needed for setup increases seriously. And After I worked with PathPilot and Mach3, the probing routine takes 40 seconds for all side.
I struggle since I receive the Syil machines, haven't milled any part yet because I can't understand why the procedure is SO MUCH COMPLICATED.
First problem is that the ATC magazine can't store any tool numbered with anything than 16 or 10, depending on the number of ATC pockets. This means I need to renumber my tools in CAM software, DAILY !
Now, the probing routine seems it can be done by only loading Gcode files, one file for X , one file for Y and one for Z! I managed to combine X and Y to probe with just one Gcode, but now I have problems with the Z probing file ...
Please make a new video and show us how do you guys probe with a digital probe, start to finish.
I also can't mount the probe in the ATC as it's wireless, and I seen other people that number their probe a number under 10, but always keep that pocket number empty

People can say what they want about any machine you buy and show on UA-cam ???
But the big positive i see, is at least you did not buy a Tormach Mill ?????????????????
Seems your happy with what you brought, and guessing more happy after you have owned the machine for few months now.
I love the Siemens controllers very easy to use, and they have a very good conversational menu to do most of what i would need to do.
( i see you are running Fusion so this part of the controller would not be of interest to you )
If you know Richard i would be guessing you know Aaron ( DCTTeacher) ???
He seems very happy with his purchase of the same machine, if you run into any trouble with your machine, I am sure Aaron would be more than happy to help, seems he is on the direct hotline to the owner of the company (SYIL). i am sure that this would be of help if needed ?
The coolant system is pretty useless on these machine i noticed that on Aaron,s machine when he was doing his first demo.
But anyway not a big problem to fix, just buy a bigger coolant pump.
I will keep in touch see how you progress with your new machine.
    All The Best, Peter.

      @betztechnikindustriesltd.8901  5 років тому +1

WCGwkf Yes I thought it was worthwhile to upgrade to the Siemens. I suspect it will help immensely with resale too. I’ve already dealt with Siemens tech support (no issues, just questions) and they have been great. I think they are running about $25k USD delivered (after taxes) ? I got in on them earlier and got a significantly better deal than that with a group of people. They’ve already taken our feedback and made major changes, so the $25k USD price is for the newest version I think. New enclosure. All new coolant system etc etc.

@@betztechnikindustriesltd.8901 that's not too bad for what you're getting. the base version of a haas would cost that much, then double it to add the features that every shop needs. I'll definitely have to consider one of these vs a used haas

Gregor Gutnii You certainly can cut steel, but of course you are probably not going to rip through it super fast. I’m not anywhere near pushing my machine yet in Aluminum, so don’t take my example cutting as a sign of the machines performance. It isn’t crazy heavy, but I’m sure it’s the heaviest of its class (Tormach, skyfire etc.). A lot of guys cut steel on the X5 and I’m sure that isn’t 1/2 the weight of the X7. I think the weight is relative to how hard you can push it. I cut steel on my old G0704, you just have to take your time. So this would be orders of magnitude better than that.

Maybe its the lack of factory support? probing with improper macros? Maybe the fact you are on your own to figure out the control and fix the PLC? I got it! its the lack of chip evacuation, no augers at all. Perhaps the sub standard weak ass coolant pump? I know this all adds up to a WAY better machine than a Haas, which every owner is a moron for making them the biggest machine builder/retailer on the fucking planet.
