For those wondering, As a Tormach 1100mx owner (prior I sold it)
Yes, get a SYIL over a Tormach.
My god.
Just sold a 770M and while that machine ran great and served me well, the new Syil X7 isn’t even in the same realm of a Tormach. So if someone is asking, get the Syil and don’t look back.
Wow this is the first time I’m hearing about this machine and it looks beautiful, It’s a pleasure to hear more about the functions and the quality of the parts it’s gonna make 👍✌️
Love your channel and how your share your experiences! Looking forward to the extended video review!
Great video Jason, thanks for posting!
Great review, looking forward to your next one.
I love that we have more competition in the machine tool industry. More competition we have the better over all products we get at the end of the day.
Hey Jason,
Seasons greetings from Oz 🥳
That was a really good, honest appraisal on the Syil.
I bought an ‘iron’ X7, along with two other Sydney customers. In August 2018.
At the time, the Syil was about AU$ 20K cheaper
Great video Jason I’ve been watching your stuff for awhile up here in the frozen north…AK. Content is always top shelf. I think Syil has a bright future and anyone who’s decides to invest will not be disappointed. Cole
Hey, not sure if you read this, I wanted to ask what rpm range does the syil have ? I know the "stock" spindle maxes out at 20k, but you should theoretically be able to do very small rpm as well correct? Cause of rigid tapping etc? Thanks !!
Thanks Jay. Keep the videos coming. I am just getting to know my X7. You mentioned a 3 phase rotary converter is required if you have single phase. I purchased through Syil a phase converter 240v single to 400v 3 ph 50Hz There is no rotating electric motor...... just pure electronics. It is a nominal 10 KVA I use this to run my mill and lathe.
awesome...a guy here in town had ran a rotary phase converter...its nice to see syil making it easier to put these machines in a location that only has single phase electricity
It really matters on whether you are going to power more than 1 machine with the phase converter. As rotary converters are far more efficient at running multiple machines at once. And if your 1 machine is pushing more than 3hp you may have issues or it gets super expensive. So it really comes down to the end use.
Spindle to table height, isn't too bad. Speedio/Robodrills are 7.7". Build a riser or get dual contact holders, don't know if Syil offers dual contact.
Great video!
No mention of controller, is it similar to Fanuc?
What kind of learning curve?
I'm glad that it's done exactly what you want it to, but for me, until they start showing up on the used market, that's just too much money for that little range of travel. And while I know the used CNC market is a bit of a crap shoot for most, after a 15+ year stint as an on site machine repairman, hardware issues aren't the trap for me that it might be for others. Keep us in the loop going forward; if it's still going strong several year's down the road, I'll add it to the shopping list if one comes up used...
Where did you buy the BT30 tool holders?
Do you prefer the X7 over your super mini?
Hey! Thank you so much for this review. Impressive work by SYIL for this price point. Not even on the same planet as Tormach. If you’re up for it I’d like to get in touch with you to chat about this machine, and maybe even come by your shop. I’m located in the SF Bay Area, not sure where you are but I’d be up for a shop visit if you have the time! Let me know if you’re up for a chat. :) Thanks again!
thanks for the video, we will receive same machine in a few days. I hope we can put in place, it will be the most tricky part of the process 😂
I want one but it is not easy to get it in my shop :-(
What are you using for a camera lens set up? The shallow depth of field is very nice.
The cheap 50mm f1.8 / Canon 80D
@@NerdlyCNC nice. Nifty 50 is cheap, but performs well above its price. 80d working good too.
not a bad machine. hopefully as they continued to sell more, the support will increase with more customers. I wouldn't be too concerned with the repair, but I would want a steady supply of parts. Same with any chinese mill really.
You guys can eat your Chinese equipment.
Awesome video, very informative. Id be curious on a doosan dnm4000 vs the x7. The doosan is bigger in all directions, has a cat40, 12k spindle. Its a little more maybe around 40k but i think it'd better option. I think id like the x7 over a tormach and a haas though. The z min height to the table isnt too bad, i think the dmg i run is like 6. I think putting 2-3 inch bolster plate would help with that distance. Like the saunders table plate. But since your z is pretty limited and you have a 4th axis it might not be worth it. They're great if you're doing table work more than vice. I think the biggest draw back is a bt30. I think every machine should have a capto spindle though haha
I have 4 doosan dnm 500's
1 dnm750.
I hold .0001" easily on a regular basis
Hey, thank you for your experience. Is the max height with the z axis all the way up?
no...all the way down.....i mean to say minimum height.
@@NerdlyCNC okay, can you measure the Max Height?. That would be very Helpful for me :)
@@jpfishing2900 it should be around 5 inches + 380mm , where 380mm is the Z travel from the spec.
I just found your channel so I don't know much about what CAD and Post Processing software you are using. I'm familiar with F360 and I'm curious if Syil has Post Processing for it. I should be able to dig that info up but if you knew off hand that would be cool.
Yep. Autodesk has a post processor for the Syntec control
@@NerdlyCNC Hey, thanks. I did a little looking around on the Syil website and I didn't find that. Now that I'm typing this it occurred to me that perhaps I should have been looking at the Autodesk website. Specifically for that controller... I learned a few things today.
BTW - I wish that Syil would post prices on their website. I hate having to request a price quote. I did that years ago with another company and they are still sending me "offers" along with the other places they shared my info with. I can tell who shared because I misspell my name very specifically just to see where it goes...
12:37 Spindle is high for the 4th and 5th axis work. I think so.
Man, greetings from Russia! For Syntec 22MA can we measure workpiece on table? I see before only tool measure... And also control 40K spindle, is it possible? P.S. Ohh, in the end of video i hear )))
Ordered a X7, can't wai!
congrats
How long does it take
@@agentsmith7947 mine is about to arrive. Took a good 3 months.
Interesting video
I had no idea they were here in the Houston area.
most of the world runs three phase 380 to 400 volt 50 Hz including China and Europe. We even have three phase available in apartments. Sounds like they did not make a version tailored to the US but around here it would be no problem at all.
agreed :)
What's up with the okuma? Keep wondering where more videos on that are
the okuma went back :( ...a bummer for sure...but its for the best.
We had a very special project combined with a very special workflow and in the end things didnt work out.. I still love Okuma and would buy a machine from Gosiger tomorrow if it fit my needs.
With the included transformer to step the voltage down to 230/240 volts single phase, what’s the breaker size? 30 to 40 Amps?
i'm not sure I have 208 - 3 phase going into the transformer.
@@NerdlyCNC 240v 50A
@@maloyaircraft1174 is that what they are asking for?
a kid here in town ran his off a 30amp single phase breaker....but it sounds like thats less than the factory wants.
@@NerdlyCNC
The X7 Economy Mill requires 220v Single Phase 50 Amp Power
The X7 LNC Economy Mill has a solid casting full frame from the ground up produced by Schneeberger making this a high quality mill in a compact configuration. The enclosure measures 59" Wide x 66" Deep x 77.1" High packing a lot of machining power in a small space. This mill is very rigid with a weight of 4,200 Lbs.
The Adventec LNC 6800 Controller Series uses Fanuc G-Code and runs on 220v 50 Amp Single Phase Power all in a Heavy Duty Full Enclosure with a 10,000 RPM 4HP BT30 Spindle, Servos and Linear Guides on all 3 Axis, Automatic 12 Place ATC Tool Changer, High Pressure Flood Coolant, Wash Down Hose Etc.

@@maloyaircraft1174 i see.
are you wanting a single phase or a three phase machine?
They need a Lathe like the HAAS TL-1 CNC

…. than the similar sized Optimum ( comparison with 4Th Axis included).
The deciding factor was the height…. I needed a machine that would go I under my Garage opening.
The Optimum here in Sydney is sold ( and serviced) by a long term Machinery supplier…… so servicing was available ( located about 15 minutes from my house.
Although the Syil is really a ‘diy service’ option, the help from China is rapid, and their chief tech guy is a real pearler 👍
I’m glad I made the plunge 😁

Robert
The z height is a deal breaker for me. thats too bad bc ive wanted one since they were in design
Country of origin?
All coolant sight glass leak eventually
Can you get it in a 40?
X9 and X11
@@kemcSLO X11 is going to be 30" on the X and 20" on Y
@@NerdlyCNC you got a ballpark price on that one? Can you get thru spindle coolant
@@NerdlyCNC i tought he meant the holder size :D
x9 and x11 are both bt40 or hsk63 spindles
Just bite the bullet and buy a makino and don't worry about anything.
X9 x11....
Probably not far off the price of a DMG M1.
That Tool Changer Style is the Worst!
*Chip Collector*!
And no support 👎🏻 Forget it.
for sure a big big consideration.
@@NerdlyCNC😢
Worryingly they use power cable that says 'coal mining use only' on it!!...that loses all trust in that machine for me
