- Above the banks of the Columbia River in Washington State, Dog Mountain remains a popular destination for hikers living in or visiting Portland. Although the route is rigorous, it rewards you with scenic views and shaded trails.
Very nice, great views . I wouldn't be able to slap the smile off my face either.. Great views and the wild flowers are awesome.
welcome to my extended backyard! Living so close to the Gorge is amazing. I have attempted this hike many years ago and on my list for this year to complete.I love my headphoens for my walks in the neighborhood. However anywhere hiking and kayaking I much prefer to listen what is around and or enjoy the silence.
Thanks for sharing your great hikes with me I really enjoy them.
What a beautiful hike!! We agree about the sounds of nature and taking it all in!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Thanks guys.
Hey MumblerMan! There's a good microbrew place to the right of the bridge. I've gone to the area for railroad photography and it's fun to watch you enjoy it as a hiker. The Columbia River Gorge is a favorite of mine.
That hike was just full of epic views and I'm glad you made it and shared it with us. I bet it made that cheeseburger good, and not only did you not have Barbara with you, you didn't even have Mr Bill. SOLO 😆
Yeah. Mr. Bill was pissed when I got back home. He just now started talking to me again. He had Tater to keep him company while I was gone though. :)
TheGoatMumbler Haha.......wait, that's weird 😁
Precioso trail amigo. Thanks for sharing your hiking experience. Adiós
Thanks for watching Carlos.
The wildflowers that you saw towards the summit include Arrowleaf Balsamroot (yellow color) and Lupine (purple color).
Did this a few days ago. Legs are still feeling it...but worth the views for sure.
Glad you enjoyed this trail near Portland, hope you were careful to avoid the poison oak on the trail.
I was keeping an eye on that as Poison Ivy and I don't get along very well. Poison Oak would probably be the same result.
Do you think it’s a kid friendly hike? I have a 4year old that I want to take.
I wouldn't recommend it
. It's very strenuous from the parking lot to the first plateau. Then there is an 'easier' route you can take, but it would be a bit much for a 4 year old
Great views! What camera do you use for video?
Canon G7 Mark II. This is the 3rd video I've made with it. So far so good.
Nothing worse than a misleading sign. They make you trust them instead of your instincts. Grrrr. Beautiful hike!
Yes. And I always seem to make the wrong turns!
Good times
I didn't see Matt Grayham go across the bridge of the Gods, and he's been on several TV shows. Did you notice that she owed you $50 at the bridge crossing. Lol. You said, "how much do you own me?", and she said $50. Lol
Is the tall trees nation forest part of the PCT? I've been there. It was awesome.
The wild flower field is awesome. Love all the views you are seeing.
Let me tell you from experience!!!! Don't invite your wife on a difficult trail!!! It doesn't turn out good. Lol
Awesome video!!! Sounds like a great workout. Bluecollar backcountry might run off and leave me in that trail.
Yeah. I've seem Tony's legs and he'd be opening up a gap on us on the way up for sure!
