Hey Nizzahon, you should rate how you think each archetype will be grade wise during these vids as well just like your card gradings (before playing). Seems like thered be a lot to talk about like access to powerful commons, strength of payoffs, likelyhood to achieve its win condition, etc. You can add the follow up about the archetypes in your "What I got wrong..." videos.
I like that Johann let’s you cast adventures from the top of your deck, seems like a decent, if inefficient, way to grind out a little more than a card of value in the late game
If I go to prerelease and open up stuff to make mardu rats work I'm definitely celebrating 🥳 But seriously the rats look like a lot of fun, and with the right cards potentially quite strong in limited.
I think GB is gonna be a pretty interesting color pair because it feels like there's definitely also a route where you build it as an enchantment matters deck since both green and black individually care a lot about enchantments so the overlap just seems natural. I think your average GB deck will probably be a mix of an enchantment and a food synergy deck that's very heavy on synergy. It looks like a very deep robust color pair to me personally.
Today I won the only prerelease I went to. Because of your videos I had a realistic view on the cards I opened and my pack had so many cards of the 'rats' archetype (including Totentanz, his song and Lord Skitter) that I left the event with a 3-0-1. I did not expect that. Thank you for these videos, they were a lot of help! Also, you definitely have to do the Totentanz cosplay thing now😁
What archetype you predict is strongest. I think any of the archetypes that support bargain is going to be good, making the two mana ramp, celebration, tapping, and fairies archetype weaker
It's fun to speculate, but it's hard to be accurate. Usually this kind of question depends on the big picture unknowns - Like the raw strength of aggro and the viability of non-synergistic goodstuff vs specific archetypes.
Great video as always! Just wondering, will there be draft videos on the channel for this set? I've seen you post a lot less of them per set than you used to, do you still stream them on twitch?
The main issue with that idea is nearly every celebration pay off is only good for that combat and while there some can still benefit from it in the middle, it not great. Out of the 11 pay offs, 4 trigger at the start of the combat step and another trigger off being declared as an attack. So that almost half of your possible picks not working with your treasure entering the battlefield and two of the remaining are rares. It will be nice when it happened, but not something to keep in mind.
I am not very sold on RG ramp in this format. But I think there might be a real Temur deck in this set especially if you can land one or more of the URG big boi's which there are a number of here.
can you tell before a set starts if it’s going to be fun or not every time? you mentioned you think this set will be fun, and I agree it does look fun, and it seems obvious that it will be fun. I wonder if you suspected going into something like Ikoria that it was going to be unfun before you ever played it.
Outside of personal preferences (for example I don't care for core set type sets so the lotr set kinda turned me off but other people might love that and everyone has their own tastes) it's impossible to tell. A good example is streets of new capenna, that set looked sweet on paper but the reality was really bleak and nothing like what people expected. A set can look like the best format ever on paper and be horrific in practice, we won't know until we play with it for a while and the newness wears off of it cause every set is fun for the first few drafts.
Yes. The mana value of an X spell on the stack is X+whatever the colored requirement is. Everywhere else X is treated as 0, so a card that said something like "when a creature with mana value 5 etbs..." wouldn't see Ingenious Prodigy no matter how much you spent to cast it.
Dude every single set izzet is spells theme. This is fucking insane. Wizards please do something completely new for izzet i am so sick of the same draft deck in every single frikkin set.
I hope you do proxy "crack a pack" to see what you would first pick and prioritize later picks. I feel like I get the most useful information to educate myself this way for both draft and sealed as some things that look good on paper just don't work out when actually trying to play them. I also feel like the bonus sheet is going to be mostly useless in limited formats but would like to see how far down the pick list they would be. Love the content as I pretty much only play limited on Arena!
I need Nizzahon to cosplay Totentanz.

I like the idea that Mardu is all about celebrating rats.

22:21 You can hear the disappointment when NizzahonMagic couldn't exclusively talk about Rats.

dimir seems the funniest deck to play in this format! I'll force it every time (Nobody can't stop me)

I am super excited for this set and a new season of nizzahon draft content!
Bonus sheet synergy for Black/White - remember that you control the Stab Wound if you kill a creature with it. You'll get the triggers
Devoring Sugarmaw goes right into my butthole themed deck.
Holeossal Dreadmaw
I do enjoy hellion tribal.

There should be more of them, yes. Starting this week with Early Access.
I feel like the dragon that makes treasures when it attacks would also be a good fit for the celebration deck, even if you never cast its adventure
The main issue with that idea is nearly every celebration pay off is only good for that combat and while there some can still benefit from it in the middle, it not great. I will be calling black/red sacratfice

Nizzahon, we Will see how -Night of Sweets Revenge "pans out" 👌
Niiiice, thanks! :D
Angel deals. Landing one of the premier feels incredible b/c it happens infrequently
Oh wow I'm early, thanks for the video!!
If you cast Ingenious Prodigy or The Goose Mother with 5 or more mana, will that trigger the "casting 5 mana value" payoffs?
Yes. The mana value of an X spell on the stack is X+whatever the colored requirement is.
Everywhere else X is treated as 0, so a card that said something like "when a creature with mana value 5 etbs..." wouldn't see Ingenious Prodigy no matter how much you spent to cast it.
@@VolvoxSocksThanks!
Do the token enchantments really go into the graveyard?
Yep. I mean, they don't stay there, but when they get destroyed or fall off, they technically go to the graveyard and cease to exist
It's a shame they cut the monocolor stuff from original eldraine. I really enjoyed having "extra" archetypes.
The number of ads appearing in these videos is ridiculous
Dude every single set izzet is spells theme. This is fucking insane. Wizards please do something completely new for izzet i am so sick of the same draft deck in every single frikkin set.
It isn't QUITE every set, but I do share your feelings about it showing up far too often.
I hope you do proxy "crack a pack" to see what you would first pick and prioritize later picks. Id summarize this format with: see a white or green mana symbol? Draft another card that does not have that symbol.
