Nice video Craig. 73 - PAK
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Hope all is well out your way.
A very nice video Craig. Thanks for your QRP demonstration. Things have really changed a great deal since we both bought our long mast Buddipoles. It's mostly mil-spec now. it's great to see you in front of the camera. It adds a personal touch. 73, Dan WZ1P (BUG Moderator)
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Glad to hear you like the new format of me being more in front of the camera. I am still not 100% comfortable with it, but getting there. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Nice to see a new video. Love the new format too.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. It is a little weird being in front of the camera, but I am sure I will get used to it.
I like the hat. I was 3 ID in Schweinfurt, 3/64AR, Conn Barracks '90-92. Good times!
applejacks971 Thanks for watching and the comment. I was in Schweinfurt on Conn Barracks with 3rd Support Battalion attached to 3/64 AR from 1/1987 - 6/1990.
GREAT VIDEO! That antenna is awesome for HF portable!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Hope all is well out your way.
Thanks - going to give this a try
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I received that from Buddipole when I purchased the antenna.
thanks my friend nice video 73 from kb2uew
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for video, how much power were you transmitting?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. If memory serves I was running around 95 watts. I generally try not to run the full amount an antenna can handle just in case the radio puts out more than 100 watts.
I wasnt looking at the screen at 6:25 and i thought you just cut him off lol
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. No, I didn't cut him off. It was edited for time since the QSO lasted longer than is shown.
@@WJ6FRadio It made me do a double take
I went back and rewatched myself just to make sure.
I just ordered the long version today. Was curious if you still like yours after six months?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Yes, I do. I take on nearly every trip to the park or beach.
I am severely restricted to an antenna take up/down. Ever use in vertical config with counterpoise wire?
Thanks for watching and the comment! I too am under an HOA so I know where you’re coming from. I have not used the Buddipole as a vertical mostly because I have a Chameleon Antenna as my vertical. I have a couple of videos showing it in action.
Nice hit. how do you like the comet ant alzr?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I like the Comet a lot! I used to use a RigExpert, but much prefer how well and simple the Comet is.
@@WJ6FRadio lol, that's what Im using now the RigEx. I have a cheap china knock off as well but the comet seems to be the way to go.
@@buzzsah The RigExpert I have is the AA-30. While it is a good analyzer the Comet is, in my opinion, much easier to use.
@@WJ6FRadio good to hear, I have the 230 and the knockoff goes to 4g but I think what Santa is bringing. lol
Will this work 100w 12 sec FT8 transmission?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. The antenna can handle 100 watts. I have never done FT8, but it is my understanding that when doing FT8 100 watts isn't needed.
Great video! I bought the deluxe long version years ago, and it came with the 5.5" telescopic elements. For some reason they shipped three, but I'm not complaining. I tested mine with an antenna analyzer, and the SWR without an antenna tuner is just a bit too high on 40 meters with the telescopic elements extended 100%. I could see that the "best" SWR was above the 40 meter band, but the SWR on 20 meters was below 2:1 right about 14.150MHz. I have one question though. The coax that was supplied has a cylindrical portion just below the mini banana plugs. Is that cylindrical portion a balun or is it simply there to protect the connection between the coax and the mini banana plug wires? 73
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Yes, there is a choke balun on the coax. I was told by the owner they send three whips incase one breaks. I am sure glad they do that. Did they send you the guide for setting up the long version? I ask because I didn't receive on initially and it was a pain to get the SWR down. Once I received the guide it was fine.
@@WJ6FRadio No I didn't know there was a long version of the guide until I watched your video. lol Mine came with the basic dipole tuning guide on blue paper. Luckily no matter how I configure my buddipole or for which band, my Icom AH-4 antenna tuner seems to tune the antenna to anything. I'm sure its not that efficient in a bad or wrong configuration, but I was able to reach an ARDOP station in Arkansas with the positive coil, two extension arms and one shock-cord whip in the vertical position with one counterpoise wire running about 40 feet.
4 7 not to good
