On May 12, 2024, in Asakusabashi, Taito Ward, Tokyo, the dance performances by Asuka-ren, Edokko-ren, Shiruba-ren, and Sancha-ren were featured at the Asakusabashi Red and White Marronnier Festival. This year, it felt like there were more international visitors than usual.
Awaodori (Awa Dance) is one of the most famous traditional performing arts in Japan, with its history of more than 430 years. "Awa" is the old feudal administration name for Tokushima Prefecture, and "odori" means "dance". Awaodori Festival in Tokushima City is held from August 12 to 15, attracting over 1.3 million tourists every year.

Very nice video. The performers were wearing very beautiful costumes, feel sorry for the ones that performed while squatting as they are definitely going to be hurting esp their backs. Looks hard to do wearing the wooden sandal type shoes. Very impressive.

i love the differences. at edokka-ren the men are a bit of a cheeky scoundrels. i had so much fun watching this. am i correct it al goes back to fishing men and the woman cheering them on? where can i find explaination about the gestures during these dances?Shibura the kids stealing the show, the unity is amazing. i got so many questions. the bell what is it's origine and how is it called?
are there practicing video's? this level requires lots of fine tuning.
