Thanks Simon. Loch Ness is an intimidating piece of water - it was a pleasure to be part of the trip and a double pleasure to relive it by your wonderful travelogue. John
Thanks for sharing this with us, it was so enjoyable to watch & be a part of your journey. The amount of time and effort to produce this video is very much appreciated. I was very interested in the dark angled buoy you used, if you could show them and the reason behind using them would be interesting to know.
@@ChrisTietjen_00 oh! The cushions were one of the most valuable items on the boat! 😂 I was very glad to have them. It was indeed an amazing dinghy cruising adventure.
@@gonesailing Thank you for watching and yes, the scenery is absolutely stunning there. The trouble now ( for the people around me) is that I can’t stop talking about it! 🤓
Lovely trip down the Loch. Do you remember what the wind was getting up to when you started to lean out at about 31m? Would give me an idea of conditions you would expect. The waves can really build with that SW wind cant they!?
Thanks Dave, the wind on that morning (31minutes in) was about 15-16 kts and the gusts forecast were considerably higher (25 kts) Both days on Loch Ness were quite windy with a minimum of F4G6 forecast. I dare say that had the forecast have been more in the F3 range then it would have been more of an 'explore' than a 'ride'! Remember it is 20NM long so if averaging 3Kts in a straight line it would take you 7 hours to complete with the wind behind you. And yes, on the first day, the wave height in the late afternoon was 'challenging', that's why we took refuge in the harbour before they got that big. The winds in the mid-late afternoon on the first day were F6 - we didn't fancy being in that! Thanks for watching, much appreciated.
@@sailingskismo Many thanks for that reply. I sail a Lugger so she's well suited to the "stronger" winds, but i'm very midful of waves!! Seems in a F4/F5 things don't get too crazy then. The fetch on that loch is considerable though.
@@SailingWithDave "I sail a Lugger" - I know, I keep an eye on you ;-) - I enjoy your channel and I'm always interested in what you do with the lugger. :)
Thanks Simon.

Surfing on the loch. Fabulous.
Grand trip, I tried it with limited success ;) in a canoe. I love that phrase `the boat is looking`busy`` I will use that one!
Blimey! What a wonderful cruise. Thank you for taking us along.
