Man I'm glad you said this. I know I'm anonymous but I look at sync placements like you said, unless you get a fire show placement or something then it's a bunch of low $$ checks that take forever to hit the threshold. But on YT all you get is how awesome sync licensing is and for "traditional" musicians like myself my songs aren't really that kind of tune, except a lead in on a movie or something, so it seems like a waste of energy.
