Cars exist for many purposes. Some are built for work, others for play. On this episode of Roadkill’s Junkyard Gold, Steve Magnante explores a pair of workhorses in the forms of a 1952 Chrysler Crown Imperial limousine and a 1957 Chevy 150 Series handyman’s station wagon. But you know what they say about all work and no play. That’s why Magnante visits a 1965 Chevy Mailbu SS and a 1971 Plymouth Road Runner. With the Chevelle’s four-speed transmission and the Road Runner’s “beep-beep” horn, these cars offered pure, unadulterated fun when they were new. Come explore all of this and more on this episode of Roadkill’s Junkyard Gold!
Almost 30 years since I visited L&L, glad to see that it still looks pretty much the same!
That blue and white base model Torino in the start of the video ❤!!!!!! I have a 75' that is nearing the end of a 10 year frame off restoration. What a beautiful donor, or even a resto candidate. It is so amazing to see so many of these rust free cars that have not been scrapped. Here in Massachusetts, they were recycled about 25 years ago (or longer). An inspiring and fun video. Road trip anyone ? 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
“you think you hate it now, wait till you drive it” .. one of the great lines in National Lampoons Vacation 👍🏻
that wagon would be a great straight axle gasser candidate--they loved the overhang in order to get traction on the old tire design
Please post more Video's like this. I enjoy watching Video's like this as much as I can. It would be BadAss to bring one of those Car's back to Life & Drivable again. ❤❤❤❤
This place is a gold mine and I try to hit this place everytime I go into Twin Falls, ID. This place is north of interstate 84 on highway 46, just north of Wendell on right hand side.
It would take hours to walk the place...ine of the things that blows you away is the parts laying around on the ground in bushes or stacked around in piles. Bumpers, hubcaps, fenders, hoods, grilles, rearends...etc.
They don't have a cart to drive the lot and you cant drive your own car through the place so get ready for a workout.
If anyone from So Cal wants to go there and you cant afford to go on your own, let me know.
A bunch of us can rent a large SUV and road trip taking turns driving.
Visiting the place is worth it...
I live in Riverside Ca and one of the guys that works there used to live in Bakersfield. The team that works there are super cool.
There are three other junk yards in ths area of Twin Falls and tons of cars for sale in cities like Kimberly sitting in peoples yards just rotting away.
Another huge place is A1 Auto Parts in Sweetwater, TX. If you like L&L then you'd love A1 as well.
Let me know when your going, I'll need help packing things to my truck lol. I wonder if they rent camping spaces, if so I know were the family camping trip is going for next year.
Wouldn't the junk yards in the dry climates be much better? I was always curious to go to Utah and look around at the junk yards - have you ever?
Nevada too of course. Now I guess it would be possible to shop through junk yards like that with a drone?
the magnums built in 79 only, were available with the 360ci, as the last year for the 400ci in b-body cars was 78
The 283 V8 is both work and play as a dual purpose engine and they have powerpack heads back in 1957
Amazing junkyard vehicles!😁🛠️
Get well soon Steve M. We miss you
That car has a one piece California Front Bumper!
1:10 The Dodge Magnum, very tidy with absolutely no parts removed, sitting on four good tyres with no grass around it or dirt on it. Also looks to be parked where a car has been recently removed. Must be very fresh in the yard!
There are alot of people , parts
I did a couple of conversions Hurst back in the day on the floor
Noticed the one-piece California bumper!
Matador at :35, lower tight...
Love the Magnum...
This place is 30 minutes away from me, and I used to go there for work all the time. Cool place.
What state is it in?
Mexican Spec Idaho
@@Properformancenutritioncom Thank you. I didn't know about that place when I lived in Eastern Oregon, which is probably a good think. I would have been spending a lot of time there.
Glad I came for the ride !
My fav show on motor trend. None of the fake drama junk or bad comedy. You guys need to look up some guys over in England building Binky. Mini with GTFour drivetrain. That show is the best auto show ever created and it's on UA-cam only.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
All I need is a 69’ Camaro, 70’ Mach 1, a 70’ Challenger, and 70’ Nova from this lot and I’ll be straight 👍
No love for the 70 Camaro's
@@matmoome I'll show some love to that as well
That must be heaven. I wish MT would send me out there and pick the car of my dreams.
Yes it is heaven, junkyard all day and riding motorcycle all night
Now that wagon with make a cool ride hope you guys take it home
I had a chance to buy a sweeet 1-owner 2-door 210 wagon from the janitor at the elementary school I went to. I had admired that car for years so when my mom told me it was for sale I was thrilled! Well turned out old janitor guy (or somebody) had crunched one of the rear quarters very badly so I passed. Today it would have been worth fixing but back then not so much
You should save it and get it back on the road 👍🏾👍🏾
I like the now grill at the windshield, cause when that ol workhorse starts I burnin oil, you don't get it pumped into the cabin, , just like my little workhouse 1991s10 does!!!!
Love this show 😎😎😎😎
the 4 speed was available on all 57s but was a dealership option. ie the dealer would install the trans.
L&L is outside of Wendel Idaho. I live right by this place lol.
Is anything for sale there. Will they sell a whole car
Don't try to run out there right now...it's a little bit cold in Wendell, ID this time of year
Yah and snowed in.
I see a 49-50-51 Ford two there to. I think the 57 makes the best Gasser of the three tri five Chevy's
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I LOVE MY HOT ROD FAMILY!!!!
Best show by far
65 Malibu ss also came with a 396 BB with 375 HP
This is a great yard. Sure miss Missoula auto salvage. Places li,e these need put on historic registry
Had to kill the sound on vid. Agh
How much would they be asking for that 57 Chevy wagon? What's the most they would take? What's the minimum they would take?
How did that grill fall off the front of that Chevy?
Thank you.
Looking for a 49 Ford custom club coup stock and 4 stromburg97 carbs and a53 54 flathed Mercury moter stock
I dozed off there for a minute.. Geez. Finnegan has really let himself go.
Very calming voice
You forgot to show where the gas cap hides. I will never tell
Beautiful
Did you rescue it?
Is there anyway we can go to that junkyard ourselves
Excelentet video.
To bad that Magnum isn't pre smog, it would be cool to see Roadkill stroke and turbo that 400 and go standing mile racing.
You know this is stupid....there are people out there screaming that "guys like me ought to save these cars" and yet here is a video showing a salvage yard with NO ADDRESS and location at all, and HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO SAVE THEM if you don't know where these cars are???????????
This place is called L&L Classic Auto, a few miles north of Wendell, Idaho
Greg. Finding a car you want to restore is like fishing. You explore. You think I am going to come out and brag on utube where you can catch a 50lb salmon on a river in the lower 48? My uncle caught a 61lb! Ain't going to happen.
So it is with old car. You will have to explore. It will not be handed to you.
I know for a fact. I can bring a flat bed trailer and bring it up to eastern Washington to Spokane to Idaho. Explore. I will find something.
Gets some faith. Gets some gumpsun.
I lived in Yakima for a year and found all kinds of stuff. I bought 30 to 40 cleveland engines and a couple of cars out of that town and surrounding area.
In my exploration I found a white Plymouth superbird not running sitting in a front yard of an old junky house. You think I am putting anything I find on utube? Ain't going to happen!
I’m looking for a 77 Dodge Royal Monaco Passenger Fender 😕
I hope someone saved that 57 Chevy.
I'm looking for a 1977 c10 tailgate and hood and clue where to find one . I don't want any aftermarket one
Where is this place at? And is it open to the public?
Amo molto gli autodemolitori americani anno sempre molte auto belle da salvare
MOH POWAH BABEH!!!
I would love to turn Myself loose in that yard !!
The only reason all that stuff is still there is because no one can afford what they're asking. At least the locals can't. There are other places here in Idaho that you can buy parts from that are affordable.
210 had paint, not the aluminum insert, come on guy
Need to cover more cars please.
What Song is this??????
Wow Soo cool
So did you buy the car?
I am sure its still there. His hands are too clean. A mechanic always has beat up hands. I look at that first when I talk and make a judgement.
Hello Motor Trend

How can I sell my collection. I'm just giving up
Mopare
Don't go to a dealer/flipper, you'll get ripped off.
Lots of good people around looking for projects. Steer clear of flippers. I have restored a few cars. After doing it and doing it right how can you sell it when you have more in it than you get out of it? Next car I would like to restore is a roadrunner but all over inflated and flippers selling really rusty cars. I will keep looking.
Dude sounds like Peter Griffin
kenyanr1 😂😂😂
Tell use Wer this is and name and number of you can looking for a 1957 Bellaire 210 thanks live in Oshawa ont canada
Does he sell these cars, or did he buy them to rot?
Porque tiene que suceder esto y con los clacicos
ah you need to read up 57s before you do another article on them, half of what your saying is wrong.
Do a weekly 5 minute feature on a "for sale car", everything right and wrong with it, clear title....
Come back to UA-cam
Thats a hoard!!!
Please for the love of god remove this man from the line up of the motor trend hosts, I have a subscription to motor trend on demand but I can’t seem to voice an opinion on that platform. There’s a reason his show couldn’t stand on its own and there’s no reason to drag the roadkill name down with this man
Love the mustang that's there how much $$$$
Call them..they are in Wendell Idaho ... They know what they have ( as fare as collectability) and have been known to be very proud of their prices ( I grew up south of Boise and lived there until 15 yrs ago)
