I’m about to do this in my garage and I’ve never worked on a car, that’s how risky I feel after seeing this video. Thank you!

It really is that easy. Eway easier if you buy the whole assembly

Couldn't help but agree with the hassle of putting back the fuel pump!
Anyway, this video deserves more views-easy-to-follow intsructions and well-presented demonstration. Keep it up, Brad and Doug!

I love how random this is for the page. Still entertaining.

You should have first relieved the pressure on the fuel line by disconnecting the fuel pump electric line and starting the engine until it stalls out. That way you would not have to deal with all that spilled fuel.

If the engine wont start because the fuel pump isn't working then you probably dont need to do that.

@@symbolsarenotreality4595the fuel line would still hold an amount of fuel that would be statically pressurized and able to be relieved via that method.. The hyundai shop manual even states that

Also, I hwar a whooping sound. As in a hose filling up with fluid. That was the problem to begin with. I'll let you know if it persists.

I need to pull the whole dash in this car to get to the evaporator. And of course disconnect the heater core and drain all the refrigerant and then disconnect the A/C lines from the evaporator

Were you guys having performance issues prior ? My car won't rev past 3000 rpm and yesterday I had to press accelerator to start the car. I suspect it's the fuel pump.

What I love about my 2003 kia, the assembly is metal (the filter and strainer housing is plastic though), the assembly is directly held in by screws and this same operation takes about 15 minutes. What I wish I knew before the operation; the new strainer didn't come with a new o-ring into the filter and a rubber block on the bottom, but even though they were sitting in fuel for 16 years, those were luckily in great reusable condition. Where's your filter located? Mine was on that assembly.

You could had unplugged the fuel pump relay and ran the engine until the excess fuel in the lines was spent.
    Otherwise great video

curious, I know this is an old comment, but... Does this still work if the fuel pump is not working at all? Does it still drain the lines when cranking the engine?

Nothing wrong with Hyundai. Great car for the price. I'm from Australia mate, when American cars have the quality of the Japanese, Korean & Australian cars you will have a valid argument. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones !

Cause they are cheap, why spend a fortune on an expensive car, they are all for the same purpose. having an expensive car its stupid, you have to fix and change stuff too at some point.
