Re-recording this title definitely took a while but I'm happy with the outcome! There isn't a lot of quality improvement over the old composite recording despite having used an HDMI mod this time around, but atleast the ugly dotcrawl is gone now. I've also improved gameplay marginally as this video is about 20 minutes shorter, possibly due to the fact I used more strafing in combat here which made some sections a little easier. Thanks to the viewer pointing that out on the old video. I was surprised with how much fun it actually was to play this game again. There's something very unique about these old Rare titles that make them so enjoyable. The first half of the game is probably the most fun as you get to explore most of the stages for the first time. After you defeated Mizar with Lupus, the second half of the game ensues in which you have to re-visit stages to find all tribals and certain key items that allow you to access a couple of new stages or areas. Whilst it does very much feel like a chore having to re-visit stages like that, there's also a sense of accomplishment as you get closer to finishing the task and especially when you see the spectacular ending. This game is a must-have for all Nintendo 64 fans as it's one of the best titles released on the platform alongside many if not all Rare titles. I feel like Jet Force Gemini had always been overshadowed a bit by the popularity of games such as Conker's Bad Fur Day or Donkey Kong 64, which were arguably easier games for those who played this console when they were younger, but now that those folks are a little older.. you might enjoy this title better. Or, atleast, find it worth trying. The previous upload got over 250,000 views and loads of comment. I'd much appreciate it if you could leave a like & comment on this video to help the algorithm! @CrankyMankey thank you! Star Fox 64 was my Christmas present, along with a brand new Nintendo 64! I played that game for hours. I know that game inside and out. I'm no where near the speedrunner/completionist level, but I managed to have a respectable score of 1106. I still have the cartridge but sadly, no working 64.
@@phantasyryder You're a troll who wants to get a rise out of me, or you're talking about the widely accepted top n64 games...that is everyone's. You see, I'm speaking about my own PERSONAL top n64 game. NOT the "official" top ten.
I think a lot of people missed out on it since it came out late in the N64's life. I almost did but I rented it from Blockbuster as a kid and loved it. I remember playing the multiplayer with my brother and sister.
This game is the pinnacle of "games people played but have to describe it because they forget the name". I swear, this one was my baby growing up. To this day I'm still deciding if it was just too short or I just didn't want it to end because it was so unique.
@@longplayarchive they seriously p*ssed me off. But...I'm also a sucker for flying games. Speaking of obscure N64 titles, anyone remember playing aero fighters assault? Another underrated title.
@@gokurules22 One of my favorite things in the game that I hate is the Vacuum Tank in Gem Quarry. That thing PISSED me off. But I love him because like...why even the fuck? This game is one I remember fondly....and one of the more exploration-based shooters that's fun to play. After going through the routes with the intended characters, you can explore the rest of the planets with different ones to find hidden secrets the others couldn't reach before. Speaking of, here's their abilities: Juno: He's got fireproof armor, allowing him to walk through lava and hot areas with ease Vela: She can swim in deep water, letting her dive under the surface to find sunken items Lupus: Has a hover which lets the pup reach areas too far for the twins to reach Floyd: A droid that can be your partner in coop (yes it had a coop function), and complete challenges to find important items. One other thing: in the cutscenes Juno's preferred weapon is the machine gun, Vela holds the Tri-Rocket Launcher, and Lupus has Grenades.
One of the most underrated (and arguably, the most underrated) game on the N64! It’s also hard but if you want to play it for some action, it’s a lot of fun!
Everything has already been said, but one of my favorite game ever, most underrated game, an absolute charm to play, another gem by Rareware, a classic and the OST for this game is probably my best OST ever, thank you sooo much for your dedication as a playthrough of this game!!! =]
24 years ago..I got to the end and just could not understand how to kill Mizar..shooting his back for so long and after 16 tries..I gave up. All the boss fights were epic, Arcade style mayhem. The story line was brilliant.. intertwining from Juno..Vela.. lupus..to that side drone(was a fantastic feature to allow the side drone to be controlled by another player via in-game multiplay) In the year 2000, Console games magazine voted Jetforce 'Gemini 'Game or the year' for its graphics and playability beating Zelda Ocarina of time at 2nd place(out of 50 games on N64)

Revisiting this game at almost 40 years old. Struggled with the controls back when I was a teen and still am today 😅 Not having control of the camera when platforming is so frustrating 😢
Is there a reason you didn't do the SS Anubis Depository on your first visit with Juno, to get the Homing Missiles from Walkway - Peak? They're very useful against the first boss. Most players I've seen make a point of getting it but you left it until later. Why? If you do it near the start of the game, you never have to go back to Depository if you get all the Tribals the first time. And Walkway - Peak is really short, so it's worth the extra visit to get such a good weapon so early.
Was gonna say the same thing. Plus I think there’s Homing Missile expansions on Tawfret, which helps Juno later into the game. Also, Homing missiles help kill the Zombie Drones before you have Tri-Rockets.
The tag is to distinct between the two versions this channel has. The old version is a regular composite recording and this [HD] version is recorded off a N64 with an UltraHDMI mod so it’s slightly sharper. When this version gets enough views, I can remove the old one but currently the old one gets all of the traction and comments unfortunately

It's hard when you have to collect all the Tribals to fully complete the game.
Dude! This game was and still is, in my top 3 N64 games. #1 Star Fox 64. #2 Jet Force Gemini. #3 Goldeneye. Thanks for posting this playthrough.

Thank you!
Hoping this game will join Nintendo Switch Online in the future!

It was the best decision because the soundtrack is perfect in JFG
How do y’all find the time to finish all these games
I haven't got a chance to play this on the N64 until Rare Replay on Xbox One came around and I tried it out on there.
Ah, good game. Never made it past the swamp level because I couldn't adjust to the combat/controls, but I like it.
I had the chance to play this hidden Gem on Xbox ONE with Rare Replay, The metal Mantis was a nightmare hahaha but what a great videogame
loved this game, it was a mix of third person shooter and adventure very original.
Deserves to be on Nintendo Switch Online N64 library
It will be in December 2023🎉
