Videos like this are so important for lower ranks since during the climb it was clear people in low elo didn't understand or even know about subroles and their actual jobs
@@metricfan If you aren't mechanically gifted the only other way to make impact is by adding value in other ways which is doing other jobs. Won't win every game but might give someone else a chance to make plays and win rounds
easy way is just forget about the role and know what each agent util could do specifically in the end role is just like a mini guideline to each agent, it doesn't matter at all pro pick agent comp base on specific agent than a role rank game even role less matter ppl can play better if they remove a role from their brain so they can see bigger picture about their team comp and play around team strength
"It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale. Understanding others, the other elements, and the other nations will help you become whole." ~Uncle Iroh
breaking down agents into set rolls is incredibly shortsighted and will always result in holding you down rank wise you can break the roles down to sub roles, duelists for example have space clearers and space takers, the space clearers are agents like raze, if you nade the left side of hooka, you know for a fact no one can be there, you have cleared that space. Space takers fit the role of duelist perfectly, these are agents like jett and reyna whos kits exist to help someone take space, by dueling for it even breaking roles down like this will hold you back, itll lead you to having a shallow understanding of abilities, and this is best shown in the skill gap between omen players. in two words, dynamic smokes. That is the key difference between the best omen players and lower rated ones. if you are a smokes player conditioned to just smoke the mouths of sites and throw the occasional one way, you are the prime example of someone who is held back by a boxed in understanding of your abilities. This will of course apply to omens other abilities but its most tangible with his smokes, the difference between a good and a bad omen is throwing himself a smoke on A site ascent rather than throwing it at the site entry only to die when the enemies flood out, its one waying tree rather than giving the defense a smoke to use break an agent down not by a shallow understanding of what type of playstyle they can have, but what you can do with each individual ability, understanding this nuance is a must if you want to climb
This is a really good video. I always see people saying Iso is bad while trying to rush into site, not understanding that he isn't a entry duelist rather than a contact duelist
You could make roles like this and super complex, but how i like to look at roles is, Duelist take/create space/entry, sentinel deny space/entry, initiator get info/ help entry, controller deny info
The biggest appeal of Valorant is the agents and their utilities. A new player's checklist to learn should really be like this; 1. Tac FPS mechanics - the usual stuff like don't jump and/or run while shooting, aim head height etc. if you're new to Tac FPS. 2. Agents - learning who are the agents and what role those agents play. If you reach a point where you can recognize an agent on sight, you should be good already.(there are those who can recognize agents by the sounds of their unique footsteps) 3. Each Agent's Utilities - learning whose utils are which and how they work. If you reach a point where you can identify which agent utils you are seeing and hearing as well as know how they work, you are good already. 4. Utilities Interactions - learning which utils counters which, how one utils interact with another, which utils are great to combo etc. 5. Nuances of Utilities - knowing minute details of each utils and how they differ from similar utils, which is better at what scenario, what you ideally want to use them for, what you can also use them for, the strengths and weaknesses of a util, etc. You can sneak in learning the Maps and their nuances in there and you should be fine for the most part.
This is true as a new player in fps games but I already know how to master skill management and just lack how to do unique plays with the abilities the reason why I mastered the abilities because I used to play games like Dota and Mobile Legends which helps it easier to understand how to use the abilities, right now as I'm hardstuck silver my aim is getting better even managed to one tap people using sheriff when they have rifles :) and I've been playing Valorant in hard mode using Deadlock💀
Thank you for amazing videos, that helping to players all around the world be able to understand, how Valorant works! I wish you even more views and good luck!
this video really made me realize how important it is to know how to play your role in ranked. i’ve had so many teammates that play the character they locked in wrong and end up having it ruin the entire game.. i main kj/sent in general and when i play based off how my kit was designed i can easily get 20 kills ❤
i know a creator that split the roles into 8, and the comments also gave something good for sentinels, maybe this can help anyone out there: Duelists = Duelists & Spacemakers space makers make/ take/ claim space, like jett, neon and raze, while on the other side you have the duelists who are better at taking gunfights like reyna and iso Initiators = Set-uppers & Information gatherers Setuppers set up their teams with stuns and other like breach and gecko, and information gatherers just gather information, like the name sais, and find out where people are and arent, like fade and sova. (i do not understand their smoke blabla so i am just gonna write a shortet form of what they said, also clove wasnt released back then eventho she is a completely different case) Smokers = line smokers, dome smokers, assistive smokers line smokers: viper; dome smokers: brim & omen; assistive smokers: harbour & astra So, what they said was basically that harbour & viper as line smokers and brim, omen and astra as dome smookers doesn't really make sense for some reason (probably cuz herbour and astra got both line and dome smokes basically), harbour doesn't count as line smooker and also astra and harbour are often not played alone as smokers (i would argue) last one is actually from the comment section from the vid: Sentinels = area deniers & stallers Area deniers are characters like cypher or killjoy, sicne with their utility they deny the enemy to just take certain areas, while sage and deadlock are stallers who can stall the enemy with sages wall and sloworbs aswell as basically deadlock in hearself.
An example of this multi-role chicanery is how I play brimstone. On defense, I chronically use shotguns and the ol' smoke & molly combo to stave off pushes and punish overaggression like I was playing a secondary sentinel (this tactic is not reccomended unless you have a way out). On attack, I play similarly to a iniatior with aggressive smoke placement and stimming my team to make getting on site easier.
Its honestly why I adore Deadlock so much compared to other Agents, as she’s a lot more active with her trap utility to swing and get kills. While she can’t reliably watch flank, once she gets on site and sets up she holds that shit in a vice grip and will not let go.
i always loved cypher because of his versitality,i play him since 2 years now, long before his trip buffs, but it is a one man army, i always seen him the only caracter that has 3 roles, smoker, initiator, sentinel : scans a new part, push trhough smoke, then hold/secure it
Aint watched the video but I feel I already kinda know what they are gonna be Duelists: Dive and Selfish Initiators: info and support (being agents with heavy execute power being breach Kayo and Gekko although you can debate the last 2) Controllers: Dome and Wall (having any wall vision denial so astra included) smokers Sentinals Kill/info and Wallers
try explaining to people that just because an agent like iso or reyna is a dualist, doesnt mean they are designed to entry in the same way a jett or raze can -_-
Great content from start to finish. Too bad instalock Reynas will use videos like this without proper understanding of context to justify lurking every round.
Deadlock can catch step heavy flanker though, but yeah, not the best to hold flank I hate it when Reyna is the only duelist and still doesn't play 1st entry
the breakdown of the g2 vs th was so interesting. so my question is during the mid round if their entry is dead are teams or players conditioned to send in the person with little to no util left to entry? so in that case does jonahp comm to his team that im gonna push since i have no util? i know we cant hear comms but i just want to know if thats generally how its done
I truly believe some roles are better and worse in ranked and wish it was spoken about on a daily basis. I'm pretty sure a full-blinded opponent being killed gives a worse assist towards your ACS compared to damage assists. One is a mistake of a duelist a lot of the time. Another is flat out a given kill to a player. Given mmr too apparently.
anyone who doesn't dis deadlock instantly and actually gives her a fighting chance is the best (skillcapped is the worst 'TiPs aNd TriCKs' channel lmao, imo) Deadlock CAN solo hold a site, she can't hold flank but she's better in other scenarios like playing the bomb, lurking and obviously, lineups. Sage can't hold flank but no one ever complains about sage being a sentinel, because she does a different thing and she does it well
I need this link to my soloque randoms, i play sentinel hard lock/lurk but i have reyna that wants to lurk, clove wont smoke, pheonix just flashes his team and one other teammate thats good that adds you but you never see online again
Thats the reason why I hate clove. Everyone instalocks her but you dont have controller bc they are playing like duelist and use smokes super rarely or never
@@Pissandra_0.0 As was the point of the video, clove is kind of a hybrid and thats the problem, because she has controller symbol. If you pick clove you almost always want another controller in the team, but nobody picks the other one when they see 1 controller on the team allready, not understanding this. So, if somebody isntalocks her, you still need a controller. Reyna is one the best agents for lurking. 1v1 favors her so much(always full hp if you win). Lower the rank is the better she is(on high ranks you get 1 tapped and people know how to aim for the head so full hp is still just 1 bullet).
Impossible to say, depends on what the other 4 are. But most of the time no. Clove with ult for example is a better choice. Depends on what utility others have left.
i always knew there were subclasses for each role like how omen can technically be a duelist. whenever i tried to explain this to someone they laughed at me and called me stupid thank you for this
