@@florindacar8659 Now there's an interesting idea. Showcasing local musical instruments. As a violinist, I have to tell you that there's some risk to a performer who does this. The relationship between a violinist and his own instrument is extremely close. A performer on an unfamiliar instrument will be limited by not knowing exactly how it will respond, thus being forced to choose between trying things which may not work well on the instrument, or taking a very conservative approach which would be relatively bland. The only way this would work well would be if the performer could practice in advance with the instruments so that they could develop an understanding of its "quirks and features." If that were done, this could be a fabulous way to give some additional cultural value to musical instruments not presently being played.

A very impressive interpretation and technique far from being mechanic like many violin masters. His violin speaks the language of music fluently, naturally and effortless with a very sweet, soft and beautiful tone.
Right on target Vladimir! Totally agree with you. Many play this concerto too aggressively and without the charm, humor, or drama. Hadelich sings, conserving the melodic structure even in fast virtuoso passages.
Augustin is AMAZING, one of the greatest, most true violinists alive and definitely on my "Mount Rushmore" of favorite current players. But if this is the best Paganini you've heard, you must go listen to Michael Rabin right now!! It'll blow you away.
The written music is merely a road map. Once you've driven the route through the country, you come to know every landmark, every curve of the road, every meadow, and look forward to the beauty in every point of the journey. Music is the same way. It becomes a story that comes from within, rather than written instructions from MapQuest. It's the best way I can explain.
I was actually there to view it, first time at an orchestra with my piano teacher, and I got to listen to him and hear a Stradivarius. One of my most cherished gifts I ever received in my life.
Hey :D Just wanted to inform you that he didn't play his Stradivari "Ex Kiesewetter" 1723 but the Guarneri del Gésu "Leduc" 1744 at the concert :) Yes I'm fun at parties :P
Perfectly balanced musicality. You can tell he really thought considered how every single note would sound best, and then gave it extra nuance, while still respecting the original meaning of the music. He's not playing to impress us with technical skills, but to produce the best possible music.
Every note is considered, and makes sense musically, and when he plays the music comes so far before the technical aspects (which are effortless) - perhaps how Paganini himself would have wanted it and perhaps how he played? The downward chromatic scale at around 10:55 is one example of how he takes something showy and makes music with it.
I had to muster great force of will to resist from listening to the entire performance. I just heard the first two pages of the solo violin part and no more. I didn’t want to spoil it for myself because I will be attending Mr Hadelich’s performance of this very same concerto with The Florida Orchestra in St. Petersburg next month. But the little I heard has convinced me that this is the best and most beautiful interpretation of the Paganini Concerto I’ve heard in my life since Shmuel Ashkenazi’s recording on Deutsche Grammaphon from decades ago when I was a teenager. I just love his refreshingly original and innovative approach to this often-played piece. He emphasizes the singing, Bel Canto character rather than the “look at my dazzling technique” approach that most fiddlers prefer. Mr. Hadelich is the Numero Uno among today’s great violinists, in my opinion, and I’m so grateful he’s coming down to Florida soon. Thank you!! 🙏🏻🎻
I also heard Shmuel as a kid!! I never liked it though.... it would have been interesting to listen to Heifetz version but I think he never recorded it.
I love your comments about Augustin’s playing, you were spot on. I’m so sorry that his concert in Tampa was cancelled, and that you were unable to see it. My prayers are for the future, that this beautiful music will be restored to its proper concert hall venues! 🙏❤️
I have listened to many Paganini interpretations, including Salvatore Accardo, Leonid Kogan etc, these previous two are of course my favourite. But today, I declared that Mr. Hadelich has the BEST interpretation, and now ranked 1st in my own ranking.
It would be very, very difficult to find a more virtuosic performance of this Paganini Concerto than this. The runs are crystal clear and each note rings out. Such fine bowing technique. The Detroit Symphony sounds at home with this artist in Symphony Hall with marvelous acoustics. This video captures the essence of what the live concert must have been like. Loved the spontaneous applause between movements which was well deserved. World class sounds all the way around. Simply marvelous!!
I find each performance and performer has their own charm. I personally prefer a slightly more playful interpretation like Kavakos', however the technical skill and overwhelming precision shown by Hadelich here are phenomenal!
8:04 the way he holds that super high harmonic for just a touch and vibrates makes the violin sound like it's singing;-; aaaaaaa he makes this insanity look so easy and effortless
This is one of the best Paganini Concerto No. 1 performances I have ever heard. Techniques ,to him, are no longer something to impress the audience but the integral part of his being. His fingers effortlessly flied on the fingerboard, producing notes that were as pure and sweet as the honey that instantly melted in your ears. The last time I had such excitement was when I listened to Shlomo Mintz played the same concerto using Paganini’s own violin “El Cannone”. Bravo👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉
Well put. So beautiful this performance.... 'producing notes that were as pure and sweet as the honey that instantly melted in your ears' ... exactly how it is
This is the most naturally musical interpretation I’ve heard of this work. The phrasing and timing is amazing and every notes ‘sings’ that you forget about how technically difficult this work is. Very different to other performances of this work I’ve heard. The Del gesu isn’t too bad either!
What an incredible performance! Mr. Hadelich has a very sweet sound which he combines perfectly with precise intonation. I believe he is one the of the grestest performers in history.
With hadelich..you hear the music beyond the technical expertise..there's no such thing as " wow this is such a difficult piece to play" ..with hadelich it's always "this is a very beautiful piece of music"
I doubt any other concert violinist has faced the incredible challenges this superlative young violinist has had to face. And in spite of it all he plays with such passion and love of life that I dare think Paganini himself would applaud. He is without a doubt a bright rising star. Bravo🎻👏👏👏

On one level it is just great to hear a performance of this piece which understands that everything Paganini wrote was, above all, lyrical, and - a few obvious lollipops and flashy variations aside - not merely an opportunity to bash the way through a load of violinistic gymnastics (the contemporary newspaper reviews most often report the rapt attention which Paganini's singing tone aroused and commanded of his audience, and not the mere flashiness of his playing). On another level, if Nathan Milstein was the Aristocrat of the Violin, then Mr Hadelich is surely his rightful successor. There's my tuppence-worth ♫
Nothing short of extraordinary! I agree with all the comments below - a modern-day Kreisler. Hadelich owns the concerto. He brings the flair of bygone years and modern day perfection together in a breathtaking performance. Fun to watch the bedazzled expression on the faces of the string section and the admiration from the other parts of the orchestra. The cadenza is a special treat all on its own. Few have commented on the match between the soloist and the orchestra. Jader Bignamini is a highly empathetic and brilliant conductor, bringing out the best in the Detroit Symphony. The conducting of the orchestral part of the Paganini #1 is often blunt, but not here. What an awesome performance.
I was interested to learn he plays on Szeryng's delGesu. When I was a student in Pittsburgh in the early 60's Sidney Harth invited Szeryng to play a recital for us. He was in Pgh. to play with the Symphony. He walk into our small recital hall, opened up his DOUBLE violin case and showed us his Strad and his Guarneri del Gesu and it's likely the same one Hadelich plays here. He then played a Bach Sonata. There's no more worthy heir to this magnificent violin. You hear every single note played perfectly. What a joy to hear and watch this phenomenal player.
Augustin, we need to have a talk. This is the SECOND night in a row you have upended things for me. You keep trapping me into watching you. I said to myself: "I'm just going to listen to the first moment." Then I said: "okay, I just do the second movement." Before I knew it I had only 10 minutes left. So, I said, "what the hell. I might as well finish it out." You're playing is magnetic. What can I say. And what a well-deserved standing ovation. You should have also gotten a standing ovation for the Sebelius you played with the Frankford Radio Symphony in the church. (PEOPLE WATCH THAT ONE - it will have you in tears!!!!) Going to try to get on with my day. I may be back for more later tonight. Ha!
Out of the renditions I've heard, this one is my favorite. The piece is technically challenging (to put it mildly), and just getting the notes right is an impressive feat. But in Hadelich's, you can really hear the soul in the performance.
I had the privilege to see and hear him live, he brings every kind of emotion by the way he plays! Mostly tears tat there can be such magnificence with us! Just love him!
Hadelich and the Leduc together make this an outstanding performance of the Paganini no.1 to remember. I also loved the Cadenza written by this young man, very sentimental, very touching!
Crystal clear, fully vibrant and silver tone, sung with heart and soul. Technique is merely a tool, not the end game. Music and fantasy thrroughout, I truly loved it. My favorite.
I'm afraid to offend this moment with words, it's something from another dimension ...... I was extremely impressed listening to the concert ....... I traveled in other dimensions ....... I am blessed to live Here and Now ....... Thank you Augustin !

that blows my mind

The written music is merely a road map. Once you've driven the route through the country, you come to know every landmark, every curve of the road, every meadow, and look forward to the beauty in every point of the journey. Music is the same way. It becomes a story that comes from within, rather than written instructions from MapQuest. It's the best way I can explain.
I was actually there to view it, first time at an orchestra with my piano teacher, and I got to listen to him and hear a Stradivarius. One of my most cherished gifts I ever received in my life.
Hey :D Just wanted to inform you that he didn't play his Stradivari "Ex Kiesewetter" 1723 but the Guarneri del Gésu "Leduc" 1744 at the concert :)
Yes I'm fun at parties :P
Lucky you, I bet it was amazing. Do you play violin as well as piano? Piano is much harder, in my view!!
M. S. Haha! 👍
Stop…. I’m getting jealous! But glad you had such a knowledgeable teacher and that fortunate learning opportunity. Elizabeth C
there is not a soul on earth that couldnt appreciate this masterclass of musical fucking genius.
I am 242 years old and i never forget the day when I and Paganini meet each other
Same can’t believe I found you here, I was there too
hey i remember u from that day.
Yeah man drinking with Pagini and the boys was better in the 10s, not 2010s I mean the 1810s
Augustin Hadelich , wonderful in Paganini , what a talent
Augustin is out of this world, marvelous!
Exactamente.
Thank you!! 🙏🏻🎻
Check out Francescatti and Motropoulos
I don't want to be pessimistic, but I'd be very surprised if that concert will be taking place. Maybe you should watch till the end.
How was it and how much is the ticket cuz I rather listen to unaltered Hadelich greatness
This is the first concert I've seen fully..
I got to know what i was missing in my life...
Music really filters the soul.
Standing ovation well deserved
I have listened to many Paganini interpretations, including Salvatore Accardo, Leonid Kogan etc, these previous two are of course my favourite. But today, I declared that Mr. Hadelich has the BEST interpretation, and now ranked 1st in my own ranking.
That was incredible
It would be very, very difficult to find a more virtuosic performance of this Paganini Concerto than this. The runs are crystal clear and each note rings out. Such fine bowing technique. The Detroit Symphony sounds at home with this artist in Symphony Hall with marvelous acoustics. This video captures the essence of what the live concert must have been like. Loved the spontaneous applause between movements which was well deserved. World class sounds all the way around. Simply marvelous!!
Totally agree with you. This is a mind blown performance
Michael Rabin played it the best, I believe...however this is indeed excellent!
Applause between movements isn't encouraged
@@IceOfPhoenix88 But is often appreciated, and that rule was never a rule until relatively recently.
I find each performance and performer has their own charm. I personally prefer a slightly more playful interpretation like Kavakos', however the technical skill and overwhelming precision shown by Hadelich here are phenomenal!
What a wonderful Master piece!!!! The violin player is so fucking perfect!!!!
What a good young man to be able to play Paganni with such perfection and simplicity !
Old man and the Sea this is a very well put comment. Thanks for putting it into words for me!
Well put. So beautiful this performance.... 'producing notes that were as pure and sweet as the honey that instantly melted in your ears' ... exactly how it is
Did he play it in the original key
Bravo! Thanks so much!
Leo Orsi I, too, love the sweetness of it. Very good description!
Totally agree👍
With hadelich..you hear the music beyond the technical expertise..there's no such thing as " wow this is such a difficult piece to play" ..with hadelich it's always "this is a very beautiful piece of music"
It's like an Rossini opera, a lot of Bel Canto.
The first violinist to not force the opening with grandiose phrasing, over-exaggerate the thirds, and all the technical passages!
Markov should take lessons with Augustin.
God sent us Augustin Hadelich let us not waist this talent...
Hadelich is so skilled, great playing, wonderful concerto. Paganini was not only a virtuoso, he was a fine composer indeed.
BRAVO AUGUSTIN and ORCHESTRA!!! (Juri, Estonia)
I doubt any other concert violinist has faced the incredible challenges this superlative young violinist has had to face. And in spite of it all he plays with such passion and love of life that I dare think Paganini himself would applaud. He is without a doubt a bright rising star. Bravo🎻👏👏👏
In febbraio suonerà a Roma 😂
This man is channeling Paganini himself. Just pure perfection! Bravo!
Every time i click one of his videos, a voice will tell me, nahh it wont be that good. And every single time when he starts to play, i am pleasantly proven wrong and blown away with his violin playing. This is such a wonderful feeling.
Impeccable intonation, especially the tenths. Magnificent bow arm. Loved the interpretation and 'easy' cadenza...
his cadenzas are beautiful as usual
The Young Man is Destined for a Stellar CAREER ! He is also one of the most promising violinist of His GENERATION !! It is Always So Encouraging to See Fresh New BRILLIANT Young Talent on the Horizons Always Insuring that the Future of this Great Art form is in Very Capable Hands !! At His Current Pace , We just might be Listening to THE NEXT PEARLMAN !!!...
Dearest Hadelich, you are most certainly out of this world! The mere act of listening to your performance causes an explosion of feelings and sensations, as if our souls were in a dialogue, one which I wish never came to an end. Please, keep enlightening and blessing this world with your music!
Play so emotional.
This guy is INCREDIBLE. I love his playing so much. I can't believe I am only just discovering him.
Oh my, gosh! That was phenomenal.
Wonderful. Just incredible.
This is the most perfect performance I've ever heard. Augustin Hadelich = perfection.
I could stop listening - this is beyond imagination. Bravissimo, Augustin Hadelich!
His playing makes my heart sing. I've been playing many years and only in my wildest dreams. I appreciate his hard work.
Very excellent, I am watching from Iran.
Everytime i listen to paganini with the virtuoso violinist, it always stabs my heart very deeply
I was privileged enough to be there for the performance and it was incredible!
Lucky
Me too. 2nd row center . Incredible to see him that close. Hard to believe there is a better living violinist. And bravo my DSO!
Ha!
You are the greatest young and most human violinist of the new age!
Augustin, your performance touches my heart, and the emotions expressed through your music make me wanna cry, sheer beauty and excellence.
Agustín, que dios te bendiga y siga iluminandote,
Probably , the best violinist today.( Incomparable harmonics)
Out of the renditions I've heard, this one is my favorite. The piece is technically challenging (to put it mildly), and just getting the notes right is an impressive feat. But in Hadelich's, you can really hear the soul in the performance.
I had the privilege to see and hear him live, he brings every kind of emotion by the way he plays! Mostly tears tat there can be such magnificence with us! Just love him!
Wonderful performance. Such clarity and impeccable technique. Amazing cadenza.
Ive watched this a few times now. Hadelich is phenomenal.
Hadelich and the Leduc together make this an outstanding performance of the Paganini no.1 to remember. I also loved the Cadenza written by this young man, very sentimental, very touching!
Um, I can’t quit returning to listen again! ❤️ The best!
I never had an insterest in classic music, but when I opened this video, I realized, how much I'd lost...
Just perfect, damn I love hearing him play
