Nah, Matoran would be spoken the same way as human languages. The evidence for this is that we have words we already know how to pronounce. Mata, Nui, Kofo, Jaga etc. You can even hear Nokama speaking straight-up Matoran in Mask of Light.

So that's how the Mask of Light was turned to stone! The only way to return it to normal was exposing it to lava and returning it back to its orginal state.
Thats a great observation. When I first started watching it, I thought this was out of the storyline, to have the Hordika looking for the Mask. But it isnt, showing it turn to stone explains why it is in that state when Takua finds it! This cartoon is awesome, but Ive always wondered why the Toa sound this way? The Avohkii was very well hidden... behind a giant Avohkii.
I always loved how strangely Samurai Jack Esque these were. It's honestly just amazing to rewatch them again.
