Interesting film that deftly arcs from and back to scenes of fall in a Midwestern neighborhood around the sport of football. Nicely combined. And the picture quality is excellent; I expect this was enhanced.
This feature was filmed the 14th thru the 21st of October, 1961. This was Jerry Burns 1st year of coaching for the Hawkeyes. Overall it was a good year for the Hawk's.
Not even the most passionate football fan knew their game was played with an ellipsoidal ball. I must admit, in my more than 50 years watching football games, I’d never heard the word used in conjunction with the sport. You never stop learning.
October 21, 1961 game vs. Wisconsin. Iowa, under Jerry Burns in his first season as coach, won 47 to 15 before 60,150 fans. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1961_Iowa_Hawkeyes_football_team.
I like the casual burning of the leaves right next to the street. Oh the good old days
Great look back in time. Thanks for posting

Boy, this takes me back to my boyhood days in Iowa. Thanks!

Nice to see they had the water tower labeled back then also. Pity it took so long to get it done again!

Awesome!
Look at all these beautiful Americans, a sight to see.
Not sure I’d call everyone in this film beautiful. America was, and is, the good, the bad and the ugly.
@@brianarbenz1329thank you, this comment notification brought my attention back to this video. Still fascinating
@@johndoe-fq7ez I agree it has some fascination. It's a good quality slice of life video.
