really appreciate your videos! i have noticed some decline in my game, as probably a lot of golfers have as well. am implementing some of your tips, i wish you,and yours a very merry Christmas! thank you!
I used to always carry 4 irons for pitching wedge. However after testing a a hybrid that hit the same distance as my for iron I had to swap it out. I tested it side-by-side versus my 4 iron and the hybrid was just so much more consistent to hit that 200 205 yard mark. It was really hard to take that for iron out but I could not argue with the distance workability and ease of use
Good stuff here. I carry a 4, 5 and 6 hybrid in the bag and have for years. My lofts are a bit higher than you tested though. 4 is 22, 5 is 25, and 6 is 28; they fit in nicely with my spacing of 10yds, I'm not a fan of 3/4 and half swings so it works better for me than 15 yd spacing. I will add that occasionally a hybrid, even from a dry fairway lie, will be a flyer and go 15+ yards further than normal but that isn't enough to offset the benefits over a long iron.
Andy is swinging those hybrids really well. Exactly what your longest iron should be is always a difficult question. Mostly it is a question of club head speed, but it also depends on what irons you use - the game improvement irons have much stronger than traditional lofts to compensate for having a much lower cg location. I play relatively traditional lofted irons - 7i is 33 degrees. I have recently gained a bit of speed (not sure why), so my 7i swing speed is 85-87 mph. I am comfortable playing a 5i with 26 degrees of loft - I swing it at about 90 mph (=/- one or two mph) it carries 180-185 yards (sometimes a little more but never 190 yards), it gets enough height and spin (4500-5000 rpm) so there is control. For me the 5i is my longest iron and then I go to a 23 degree hybrid. I did try a 26 hybrid and I hated it - launched like a PW, way too high but it did go a good distance and stopped quickly but in the wind it looked to be very difficult to control
I was just on UA-cam looking for videos on this. Go back to the homepage and here's your great video. Keep up the good work thank you.
Yeah, AI is always monitoring and tracking you. Call it an algorithm if you want to.
