    Been a cartridge guy since the 70s when I first started shaving. Last ten years have used Dorco blades for cost saving but they’ve been getting harder to find, so switched to Supply 2.0. WOW! Went all in with soap, brush, everything. Kinda pissed that here I am at 63 years old and no one ever really taught me how to shave, thanks Dad. It’s a whole new experience now. Love it. Looking forward to trying out different razors down the road but for now, glad I’ve started with Supply.

    I switched to “non cartridge” shaving about 2-3 months ago and haven’t looked back. I suffered from ingrown hairs and had no idea that they could be fixed by using DE razors. Now it’s become a hobby. This will definitely be added to the collection. Love this channel!

      I'm 1/2 weeks in and on a cheap double edged safety blade razor from Amazon I will also never go back, I'm unlikely to turn this into a hobby I just want as little fuss as possible.
      Iv always found if I leave my hair any longer than 2/3 days I know I'm going to have a rough time with anything electric or cartridges iv ever used until I used a single blade. Now I know how good even a cheap low investment to see if I like it I'll probably look to buy something a little nicer.

    I was glad to see this video. Some time ago, I purchased this razor. After my first shave with it my face looked like it had been attached by a mad man with a hatchet. I was never able to get a good shave with the razor. I returned it to the manufacturer with no problem whatsoever. They are a very good company and really stand behind their products. I just couldn't make it work. I've been very happy with my safety razor experience but just couldn't get the hand of this one. Based on your review, it was obviously user error on my part! Just take electric clippers and get it down to a reasonable stubble and then shave. I don't think most razors, be they single or double-edged are made to cut through your jungle of a beard.

    The Supply is definitely in my top 3 daily shavers. If I haven't shaved for 3 or 4 days, I'll use the most aggressive plate, otherwise I find the middle plate the most comfortable. I find I can get 7 or 8 shaves from a blade before having to change (as opposed to my de's which only give 2 or 3). Plus, it just feels solid in the hand.

    I've had a Supply razor for a few years but I only use it occasionally. When my facial hair is long, (mine grows pretty slow. Matt's 5 o'clock shadow is what I get after 3 days of growth. ;D ) the Supply razor mows through my facial hair beautifully like no razor I have. I don't feel it cutting at all, the hair seems to magically separate from my face. The only thing that prevents it from being my daily driver is that it always leaves a little bit of stubble and doesn't cut very close when I have mostly stubble. I've tried using the aggressive plate, but it leaves a lot of razor burn (normal plate doesn't), and still leaves a bit of stubble in key areas no matter how many different directional passes I do on it. It is less stubble than the normal plate though. (Used both the Personna and Schick blades. I haven't tried the new blades shown in this video.)
    This was my first injector razor and got me hooked enough to purchase a Shick Model G, which is better for me at cutting closer when my facial hair is shorter. I want to try other injectors as well.

    • @Mvendrel

      For dialing in (pun intended) I’d recommend the Schick Adjustable, which if I remember correctly is in the M-type series. I personally like types I, J, M, and N the best. I and J have very similar heads but the handle on the J is longer. They also make Lady Schicks in several series that have the same heads but longer handles in different colors such as yellow. The I-M Types are less harsh in my experience than the Type G while still shaving efficiently and close. Some come in Hydromagic versions that have a small lever that partially releases the spring for better cleaning. It may be my imagination but these seem a tad more aggressive than the ones without this feature. I also slightly prefer the ones that do not spell-out Eversharp on the head. A special mention of the Schick Twin that can be found NOS in a mailing can (!) that was a promotion. These twins shave very smoothly and closely. I do not find the twin blades that are very close together to give me ingrown hairs but I’m not prone to those so some may find differently. The closeness of the twin blades does lead to some clogging of the space between them. In the can are a couple of the twin blades - they last quite well - at least 7-10 3-pass shaves for me. More twin blades can be gotten from Japan via eBay but they are fairly expensive and take a couple of months to get. I think they can be used in the Supply if the screw/spring tension is backed off a bit. Anyone know more about this?

    My very first wet shaving razor was the Supply 2.0, I thought it just looked awesome. I started with the sensitive #1, but now shave with the comfortable or #2 guard. The Supply 2.0 gives you a great shave and is a solid razor. My only complaint is there are very few injector blade manufactures on the market today.
    I ended up buying a DE razor because of the tremendous selection of DE blades. DE blades are also much cheaper. I bought 100 Voskhod for $8 or 8 cents a blade, where the supply blades are 68 - 75 cents each, I can even buy Feather blades in bulk for about 34 cents each. Still compaired to cartridge razors the Supply 2.0 is a bargain, and gives a buch better shave.

It's hard for me to see how a single blade, SE or DE, could cut a hair below the skin's surface, since the hair would need to be pulled out somewhat before getting cut off by the blade. I guess I'm just revealing my ignorance as to the mechanics of hair removal in the shaving process.
    Thanks again for what you are doing here.

    I have the Supply V2, and it's acceptable. I really prefer a DE safety razor, as it's easier to just keep going, without all the more frequent rinsings. I basically use the Rockwell Model T the most, but I am looking to invest in the REX Ambassador soon.

    I love the Supply razor. I have 3 of them, each one with different settings. Use the mildest one for the first pass, and then step up to the middle, and finishes with the most aggressive for the finishing touch. And then on my head with the mildest, and a second finishing touch with the middle aggressive. I am Injector fan, with a fine collection of vintage Schick Injectors, and even the Pal stainless adjustable Injector. All of them are great, but I love the Supply most.

      I’m a big fan of your Razors for design, different geometries, quality, and price. For single edged razors I and my son are particularly fond of Eco and the Hawks - especially V2 Aluminum. For DE I love the BBS and the Baby Smooth. They are kind to my face and neck and yet remove beard reasonably efficiently. Just work for me! The increased flex on the blade works as advertised and I find the head beautiful in shape as well.

    I typically have used the 3 dot the most, sometimes the 2 dot. I think I like it better because it feels closer to home with a straight razor. It would be cool if you guys did a video on the new Supply Pro and SE in comparison to this model.

    • @Lew114
      @Lew114 Рік тому

      I'm curious about the SE. I had a rough start with DE razors. Lots of cuts and shaving took forever.
      I tried the Leaf with only 2 blades loaded. I like that I can use any DE blade and break it in half. That fixed the cut issue because of the pivoting head. It was too big to get under my nose though. Then I went back to a regular DE. I have the hang of it enough that I have very few cuts now, but it still takes longer because I have to be careful.
      I'd love a single edged razor that took commodity blades, pivoted so I wouldn't get cut, and was small enough to fit under my nose. Maybe the Supply SE is it.

    • @brandonh4527
      @brandonh4527 Рік тому +1

      @@Lew114 if you want to stick with DE blades, it sounds like you should give High Proof Razors a try. That’s been my daily razor for a while now. You get a very acceptably close cut with 2 passes and it’s comfortable. The head pivots and takes 1/2 DE blade.
      I bought and tried the supply SE. It’s probably good for the more novice, but the original isn’t hard l, just takes a little time to get used to. I think the 2 dot regular setting is the best all around as far as supply goes. If you get the SE, order the 2 and 3 dot settings with it and see what you like. Work up to the 3 dot so you don’t skin yourself.

    Try one of the Schick dial adjustable razors and I think you’ll like it. It’s pressed metal with plastic handle and lightweight but it shaves very well and can be adjusted on the fly. The Persona blades like those in Supply, the Schick blades from China, or NOS Schick all work well for me - slight nod to NOS. I prefer the aluminum injectors for reasons of not making plastic waste.

    • @Mvendrel

      I have a Supply in addition to a mini collection of vintage Schicks and I shaved with Schicks starting at age 14 - I’m 69 now. Because I’m a daily shaver I prefer the milder shavers. For Supply I prefer the 1 dot plate. For vintage: I, J, L, or M, including the adjustable. I have shaved with DE too over last year. There too I prefer milder razors - RazoRock BBS and FatBoy up to 5 are personal favorites. I’ve not yet used an Ambassador but want to. Since I used Schicks for so many years I don’t mind aluminum razors. The RazoRock Baby Smooth is an AL version of the BBS (which is SS) and my favorite AL razor. I also like the Gillette Slim for a lighter weight DE. If I have to travel with carryon my fall back is a NOS aluminum handle Atra with Vector carts from India. I can survive twin blades while traveling but don’t like more than 2 blades in a cartridge. (The Schick twin is a pretty good razor too but blades if new have to be ordered from Japan.)

      I left off Rockwell 6S from my favs list. I prefer it with 2, 3, or 4 plates depending on whether I’ve skipped a day or two of shaving. I’ve the same preferences and reasons for adjustable “on the fly” as you do but the Rockwell is easier to change than the Supply. Or if one is a razor collector as I am can use 2 at once ;-) (I like two-tone razors so I have a black and red 6S with baseplates switched.) I gift a lot of razors to others sharing my hobby. I wish Rockwell used a 2-4 plate in their 2C and then I’d have my go-to affordable first/starter DE for my gift recipients as the 1-3 plate is almost a waste for the “1” side as presently configured.

    I'm also a fan of Shark Tank. As I have gotten older, my beard has began to fill in with the white hair that my Norelco triple head was struggling to cut. I switched to the 5 bladed Gillette reusable handle razor but didn't appreciate the ingrown neck hairs or the ever increasing price. I bought the first Supply stainless handle without the additional settings ultimately having to buy the ultra close one. I tried several boxes of Supply's razors but couldn't trust that the new one was going to be sharper than the one I was discarding so I've switched to the Schick injection blades with the Supply razor. It takes a slight adjustment to switch blades but Schick's consistency is worth it. Before changing to the Supply razor, my face & neck always had shaving bumps but none since. There is a learning curve with the Supply. You can't make the long passes that the flimsy blades allow without sacrifice. I really enjoy shaving now. Supply makes great products too but I've been buying the traditional English brands, Truefitt and Hill being one of my favorites for the past 2-3 years.

    I do enjoy my Supply 2.0, but I wish I had waited until a week later to buy, as they came out with the sexier copper alloy finish a week later. Oh well. Still works great. I often use it as a cleanup razor after a couple straight razor passes, as I’m still very new to that and don’t push myself too fast.

    Just received my Supply SE. I don't know if the Schick injector will be better, but I'm not digging the "Supplied" cartridge that comes with. It has taken multiple attempts to load a blade. Should be effortless. Guess I'll go out and buy a Schick injector and see if it's better. Sure hope so, otherwise this thing is going back.

    I don't have the Supply razor, but it seems like it's a quality product. Honestly, any product that reduces plastic waste gets a big thumbs-up from me.
    I have a 1954 - 1958 Ever-Sharp HydroMagic and run Schick blades. Wonderful combination! More aggressive than my vintage DEs, and a step down from my GEMs. I'd say it's probably as aggressive as my GEM Feather Weight.
    Loved the video!

    As a lady I LOVE my supply razor and think it’s a damn shame that it’s not more popular. However, it takes a long time to get good technique down and as a lady it is harder to shave my legs with this than a conventional 5 blade razor. You have to be very careful and it’s easy to have a bloody leg if you don’t have an extremely light hand. I’m still perfecting the technique but get better and better each time.

    I shave with cartridge razors but I don’t use water or any shave cream. My question is are double or single razors good for dry shaving? I use an electric trimmer to shorten the hairs then I use the cartridge razor. Works great for me. No rash or ingrown hairs but the damn things are too expensive considering I use one maybe 3 times then toss it.

    I have been keeping an eye on Supply since 2019. I was going to go with their razor, but went with a cheaper DE razor instead. I just didn’t want to spend the money, at the time. Now, that they added a nick guard, I wasted no time preordering it! I have seen too many positive reviews to pass up the chance to get one. I have both DE and SE razors. I actually prefer SE as I feel I a get a better shave. Some DE blades can be too flimsy for my tastes. A solid SE blade does the trick. I like Titan Milds, but I know those won’t work for Supply Razors. I hope their blades work well.
